This movie never recovers once they kill Rachel. Rachel definitely should have died but in Tina's place. She should have died saving Jamie.

Rachel was an effective, likeable character. But the movie is great, with OR without her...Final Girls do not make Halloween movies(and rarely any other slasher movies, for that matter). The series is all about Michael Myers, and Dr. Loomis...they are essential...other characters come and go, but so long as Myers is hunting people, and Loomis is hunting HIM....the primary elements are in place...

Movie is trash, and salute to you good sir on watching. They made it so fast, as the guy who had the rights was going to lose them if he didn't make a movie within a year. They hired a director who has ONLY done French comedies...in France. Crew members said they had a great mask like the halloween 78 one, but he chose the one in the movie the receding hairline mask. He chose the Myers house even though it looked nothing like the OG, those stupid cops and the clown noises when they show up is him thinking it was funny.

Halloween 5 actually REDEEMED 4...4 was good, but made several critical mistakes. Halloween 5 corrected those mistakes, and did so in unforgettable fashion.

* Well, I guess I don't have to tell you why this one is considered to be the 4th worst Halloween movie. Truth be told, the man in black, and the Elder Futhark rune that we saw were just a couple of ideas the writers came up with. You see, the fan reactions of Halloween IV was that they wanted to learn a little bit more about Michael Myers, and why he kills people, and what makes him do it. They knew they couldn't get through another one without throwing us a Scooby Snack. So they came up with the man in black and that symbol we saw like 3 different times, but they had no idea what they were going to do with that, or where they were going to go with that, but the writers were asked to do that so they could keep stringing us along. * Also, after the release of each Halloween movie starting with the first one, people had been always talking smack about Haddonfield's incompetent police training. So in this one, they decided to acknowledge that, and even play it up a bit, complete with goofy sound effects(like the one that sounded like squeaky shoes that was in sync with their stride). Big mistake. It kind of killed the tension and suspense because we knew where they were gonna go with that. I mean, they literally spelled it out for us. Which they didn't even need to do. * How do ALL cops act and behave in every horror movie? Then, they had to make the teenagers super annoying, so that we didn't cry too bitterly in the theater when Michael killed them. I liked the actor/stuntman who played Michael Myers in this one(Don Shanks). He does a good job giving us a tour in one of those filming location videos with *malfunsean.* I remember the first time I saw this one, I remember thinking "Well it's about time they start to add more to this series than just Michael walking around killing people. That's when I realized that in the next movie, they might actually give us a reason for everything FINALLY. So before I watched the next one, I tried to see if I could predict what was going to happen, and what they were going to give us. * I was right about some things, but it still took a while to piece together everything based on the clues they leave in every Halloween movie, novel and comic book. After piecing it all together I was left with "Well, I guess it just boils down to each individual fans reaction to the final product. We knew, going in, that there was a supernatural element to it. So do we go in with that angle balls deep, or do we continue to keep certain things unanswered, and mysterious?" Personally, I think it's about time that they explain the shit, and give us a definitive answer in the next film, making it officially canon. * Then they can decide if they can continue with the Michael Myers story after that, or if they gotta see John Carpenter's dream of a Halloween anthology series come to fruition, and that's about all that can be said about this one. It was one of those Halloween movies that's easily forgotten, and perhaps even swept under the rug. The dude took care of an unconscious man he didn't even know for a whole year without telling anyone? Seriously? Why?

'Considered?' You mean, universally? Hardly. I 'consider' it to be the second best in the series. Halloween 5 is just about the ONLY film in the series to pay the slightest respect to the original '78 premise. Michael Myers was always the ultimate stalker....most other films pay minimal attention to this, for the obvious reason...it requires some time, patience, and skill to realize. Halloween 5 is almost entirely stalking, hearkening back to that classic triangular hunt from the first film...with the Bogeyman stalking his prospective victims, and Loomis stalking HIM....THAT'S what a Halloween movie IS. Not female empowerment, or Jamie Lee's pathetic attempt to become the horror equivalent to Sarah Connor...NOT Zombie's white trash nonsense...NOT a cult....and DEFINITELY not Busta Rhymes...There's only 3 truly great Halloween movies...and this is EASILY one of those 3...(And NONE of the teen characters are any more grating than P.J.Soles' Lynda)...

@@tgriffin3059 * I agree that "Terminator: Dark Fate" sucked really bad, but Sarah Connor in T2 was awesome. I agree that Rob Zombie's Halloween movies did suck. Sorry Rob. I hate to say it but, they sucked. "Halloween: Resurrection" sucked, not just because of Busta Rhymes, although he was definitely the cherry on top of the shit sundae. You can't polish a turd. It's like trying to pick up a turd from its clean side. Lots of luck. However, having said all of that, according to my research, one of the reasons why fans were outraged with Halloween 5, is because Michael Myers cries in this one. * As if the sound effects and music accompanying the two bumbling cops wasn't enough to take you out of the movie. Then, if that wasn't enough, we are led to believe that some homeless dude finds a man wearing a Halloween masks, with gunshot wounds all over his body, just decides to take care of him for a whole year. He doesn't wonder how this guy has survived all of these gunshot wounds. He doesn't wonder how he hasn't bled to dead. He remains in a coma for a whole year. Was this guy having a good time taking care of a full grown man who is obviously in comatose. * How did he feed him?(maybe Michael doesn't eat, like, maybe Michael didn't eat that dog in part 1, maybe it was a skunk that did that). How did he give Michael water?(maybe Michael doesn't drink). You would think that after the first time he had to change Michael's poopy diapers he would've said "Screw this noise." and walked to the nearest house, maybe hitchhiking along the way(people pick up hitchhikers in horror movies, happens all the time), and tell someone to call the police. * Do you see how *"NONE"* of that makes any kind of sense what-so-ever? Who wrote that? Were they up until 3 o'clock in the morning with a sixpack of beer the day they had to turn the script in and that's all they could come up with? WTF?! Anywho, you see why Halloween 5 sucked so bad? However, it was mainly because Michael cried in this one. It humanized him too much, and no other horror film antagonist ever cried. Fans were outraged😢💩👎

@@AlexKnight009 The queries involving Michael's year of convalescence are natural enough, though they could, for the most part, be applied to his 10 years of lying comatose between 2 and 4, as well....The biological functions tend to be the least interesting details of anyone's bio, and Michael is clearly no exception...Maybe the old hermit is a nonconformist, and sees Michael as some kind of rebel-kindred spirit...maybe he dreams that, upon Michael's recovery, they can team up to stick it to the Man... And as for the crying....I tend to agree, in theory...but this director felt that an emphasis might be successfully placed upon a sense of conflict within Myers...According to one of the paper back versions of Halloween, Michael had apparently been a normal kid prior to Halloween of '63, and then began to hear voices...Othenin-Girard seemed to wish to build upon the notion that there was internal conflict with Myers....I would not ordinarily approve, but, as I already pointed out, Myers operates more in line with his original nature from '78 in this movie than in any other...A moment of human consternation is a small price to pay in return for getting a movie where the Bogeyman at least BEHAVES like the Bogeyman.... The stalking of Rachel and Tina at the Carruther's house...and ESPECIALLY the barn sequence later in the film...are two of the finest stalking scenes of all time. The barn sequence takes the cat-and-mouse motif to the level of an art form. The laundry chute scene is the second best moment of pursuit in the series, after the closet scene from the original. The chase into the forest, and the subsequent death of Tina, are executed extremely well. Her death is among the very few truly memorable murders in slasher history...it's relatively rare to encounter a memorably heroic death in a slasher movie. This is probably Donald Pleasance's second strongest entry in the franchise, after 2...He simply commands the screen here, in a way that few people have ever done in any film, from any genre...Danielle Harris is incredible, as well...The aesthetics are phenomenal, with beautiful use of light, shadow, and color...and probably the most effective score since the first film...The finale, featuring the aforementioned laundry chute and the physical confrontation between Myers and Loomis...is, again, as strong as anything dating back to the very first Halloween movie... Halloween 5 is an absolute, unmitigated masterpiece.

@@tgriffin3059 * I'm, sort of at a loss for words here. Um...each to his or her own, I guess. If you're being honest about how you feel about this movie, I'm not gonna try to judge you for it. I too am being honest when I say that I didn't enjoy this movie as per the specified reasons. I mean, I would be lying to you if I said I enjoyed this one. I enjoyed about the first 5 minutes of it, but when I realized that this old man had been feeding Michael, helping him drink water, and wiping his butt with toilet paper that this homeless guy shouldn't even have had, it took me out of the movie, and I spent the rest of the movie trying to figure out why this old man did that. * If I was the homeless guy, I would be thinking "You know...I'll just bet that physicians that have a doctorate in medicine might be able to do more for this guy than I can, and what's more, the fact that this guy has not died from all of these gunshot wounds...is kinda freakin' me out a bit. Maybe the police should be made aware of this." You know what I mean?🤓👀🤪

@@AlexKnight009 I offered a response yesterday...not sure what happened...The basic idea was that the central character in the franchise does not die...or dies REPEATEDLY, depending on your interpretation...and that if one can accept THAT, then the intricacies of his elimination and hygiene seem far less daunting. The sheer artistry of the scene you mention is what strikes ME...the beauty of the part where he staggers up out of the stream...with the gentle chords of music, and the leaves rustling overhead in the early morning breeze...a terrific moment of transition, as if signaling that Halloween is just about over, and with it, the villain's power....And ESPECIALLY the shot of the mask by the bedside as Myers awakens...Looming in the dark, almost as if suspended in midair....I have rarely seen a more impressive or memorable shot of the mask...Probably the first time anyone chose to highlight the mask on its' own, almost as a character unto itself....and certainly one of the finest shots of the mask in the entire series, in any event...And I also liked the culmination, in which Michael showcased his trademark....'gratitude'...I enjoyed the way it was shot, with a bizarre camera angle, leaving some ambiguity as to how Michael killed him, but leaving an impression of an especially brutal body slam which probably shattered the Good Samaritan's spine...All told, a brilliant segment, from start to finish...
