dogshrapnel I agree. If you watch some of the earlier videos of AI battles where a bunch of guys in halo 4 are trying to take on the hunters, they end up not even shooting them too much because the guys get stuck in their evade animations trying to dodge the hunter shots.

I agree, the marines from Halo 2 were pretty good, but the Halo 3 marines were even better.

Nathan Jacobson ya if the elites and brutes are using brute shots and fuel rod guns they know how to target lead. Christ taking out those ultras at the end of the gravemind level was a pain in the ass. They just bulldozed through the brutes and I had to deal with em.

The brute aid in halo 2 were downright broken sometimes. That’s the only reason I don’t like the halo 2 brutes

Halo 3 brutes were def a disappointment. Even on Legendary they can't even melee me once before I've beaten them to death with my gun.

Not to mention when they do berserk in H3 they just kinda roam aimlessly until they see you, but once you hide again they go back to aimless running. I sure miss actually being scared when the brute howls and drops his weapon.

Agree, the Reach Army Troopers were the worst allies. On Legendary they were completely useless.

In halo 5 I believe they just shot a dead body for 5 minutes.

@@ugiustuskeiserus8066 Reach elites were the best. Reach jackals were about the same as the rest and reach hunters were good. Yanme never really changed, but skirmishers were great. But yeah friendly marine, ODST, and Spartan AI was hot garbage.

Except that Brutes die to needler detonations, headshots, grenade sticks, beam rifles... Pretty much anything that isn't automatic... So yeah, not the best example of a 'bullet sponge.' Promethean Knights are _real_ bullet sponges.

They were supposed to replace the Elites. It would have been kinda "wrong" if the Halo 3 brutes were far stronger than the Elites. And the H3 brutes weren't that bad. I think the Brute Shot Captains were good enemies, and the Chieftains of course. But maybe a mix between the Halo 2 Brutes and the Halo 3 ones would have been the perfect result, like you said. Halo Reach ones were good too. Specifically, those Drop Pod Brutes in Firefight, the ones that carry Concussion rifles, they weren't that weak (especially in higher difficulties.)

PantMal By headshotting them? You just need to headshot them faster on legendary. But a male grizzly bear would sponge your bullets even better than a Brute would, and Brutes are 1,500 lbs. Yes, Brutes should be bulky.

Well I mean for the second one you could still have the scripted AI stand up top and snipe. Killing regret would probably require him to be seen as aboard a vehicle, which he technically is.

It would be kind of interesting for them to create a mode where you can set waypoints and visible enemies to a group of AI so you could sort of control them like in Halo Wars, except in Halo 2 or whatnot. Become SUPREME COMMANDER. LEAD TROOPS
