One thing about this song in the trailer, it was NOT part of the ODST official soundtrack, we only got the full version of the song when Daniel Pemberton did the OST for the movie king arthur in 2017 and re-used this song. So ODST fans had to wait 8 years before getting hands on this song in full length.

Halo 3, ODST, and Reach had phenomenal marketing campaigns, like I think the best I've seen from the video game industry to date

What all the Halo 3 "Believe" Trailers, they are masterclass like this one.

This song was an inspiration for a phenomenon in my D&D setting known as "The Death Kenning". One of the races has a heavy Scots-Irish inspiration, and every once in a while before a battle, some of them might prophesy their own death. Once that happens, they hold their own wake, and in their own laws, they are considered dead. Then, before battle, instead of using woad, they will paint themselves in ashes, both to signal their healers not to waste their time on them, and to warn their enemies that they will not retreat or relent until they perish.

A lot of care went into all of this. The funeral scene was done inside a cooling tower of an active nuclear power plant. The uniforms are from the costume designer that did Saving Private Ryan and Band of Brothers. Legacy, a studio that did movie villians like Alien and Terminator used 3d models to recreate the weapons and armor. Also, the drill instructors are Hungarian special forces and they used guns with blanks while the actors crawled under the razorwire. What's really interesting is the emotion this trailer can evoke from people despite it obviously being entirely fictional, based on a fictional universe. halo 3 odst is the only halo game were your not some cliché hero that can take thousands of bullets your a soldier

ODST's in the Halo universe take on almost the exact same missions as the Spartans, but with none of the fancy gear, none of the praise, and 10x the fatality rate. It's no mystery why they tend to hate Spartans with a passion.

This trailer alone changed my favorite character in Halo from Chief or the Reach Spartans, to purely the ODSTs!!

If I we're an important person at Microsoft, I'd pay the director of the trailer and the writers as well to do an ODST movie, this is probably the best game trailer ever made, and probably one of if not the greatest trailers for anything

Cool, a new reaction on the day I went searching for it. A lot of Halo ads are very reaction-worthy. All of them if you expand the scope. If you haven’t, it would be interesting to see you react to more of them. Only if you want to, though; otherwise it won’t be as interesting. Would recommend starting from the oldest, progressing to the newest.

I believe the production time for this ad/commercial was about two weeks. Talk about insane talent while having a tight deadline.

Non-game Halo media is at its best when it portrays the Human-Covenant war with the same solemn gravitas, unapologetic brutality, and unflinching humanity as some of the best WW2 movies.

The main halo series is awesome. A badass super human doing badass super human stuff. But then ODST is just “just a human, doing human things.” But times 20. YOU are humanity’s finest. No augmentations, outside of endurance, just you. A gun full of lead. And your wits.

I remember in 2010 people getting angry cause games where violent and prowar, now days no one seems to care about brain washing apps and inmoral practices, well there is something about belive to be a warrior, somebody with a cause and a duty, thats my opinion in why games of those eras where so popular, and i dont embrace move your ass infront of a camera so people gives you money. Also these videos are actually better army recruitment campaigns than actuall military ones

You guys should have a look at the three league of legends star guardians cinematics. They’re each about 3 minutes and they’re legitimately amazing cinematics. Loved the vid :)

I'm sure you've been told this, but if you enjoyed this trailer then you will really enjoy the short film made for Halo 3 by Neil Blomkamp (I believe it's called Landfall). The production value is even higher than this ODST trailer (Weta Workshop made a fully-functioning Warthog among other things). Long story short it was originally supposed to be a feature-length Halo movie that got canned and became District 9 which kept Blomkamp as Director. District 9 uses a few props they made for Halo, funnily enough.

Even though this is a fantastic trailer Halo: Landfall for Halo 3 is phenomenal.

You should watch Halo landfall, it’s pretty good. Also an official piece of Halo media, it was going to be a movie but was ultimately scrapped. The director who was in charge went ahead and made District 9, I think, I’m not a reliable source.
