Hello this is the leader of Team Get Rekt Robotics, I was there with P.F.R and BackStabber and I just wanted to say your bot was freakin awesome. Your fight against Insomnia was the literal definition of an ass-kicking.

It was fun though, no hard feelings. (Insomnia)

I walked up to you guys before the matches started and told you that you where the one robot I didn't want to fight. with my luck, I was put up against you in my second match. it was still great getting to see my robot smashed into twelve seperate peices. (Insomnia) 2:10

I'm not even halfway through and not sure if any bot has ever exploded so many other bots (and itself) in one event... And I've seen a lot of Last Rites/Touro Max/Electric Boogaloo at RoboGames. Awesome bot, insane power. Unbelievable that it's your first build, and took impacts better than the opponents often. I guess a circle is smart protection for minimalising impacts from bouncing around between walls. Love the LED nametag as well!

That's such a cool robot, and damn was it destructive! Definitely the best full body spinner design I've seen, especially for that weight class.

Very nice!! I've just re-started work on my 150g metly and this video confirms I need to get it finished. I'm planning on using internal sensors to judge direction and spin speed because IR beacons seem like a bit of a weak point
@spencerallen78045 жыл бұрын
I used an accelerometer too, I was just using the beacon to cancel out the drift. Though you're right, I think this shows optical beacons have serious multi-path issues. I'm looking at some other fun sensors as a replacement, stay tuned

Is there seriously mini battlebots in Florida? I've been wanting to do this for over a decade since the Comedy Central run of BattleBots, but I thought all the good stuff happened in California or the NorthEastern states! If this is real and happening in Orlando, you might be seeing team Aethelia soon after all. I'd given up on this coming near me where I don't have to fly! Very lucky that this video somehow got recommended to me. I'll see if I can prepare something for the 2020 Orlando "Maker Faire".

These competitions have been happening all over the place since BattleBots and Robot Wars orginally aired. Just have a look around, I'm sure you will be something near you at some point in the year!

ItchingToScratch Meltys aren’t considered to be active weapons for BattleBots currently. Maybe they will be for 2020 though.

Check out team panic they are making a melty brain with dual weapon configurations for 2021 bb
@absolarix4 жыл бұрын
I know this reply is late, but I'm not confident BattleBots officials would even allow it due to the danger something like that would pose. As awesome as it would be, it would likely have enough force behind it to smash through the arena walls. This little 3lb guys was slamming the walls very hard, I'd be afraid of the danger posed by a 30lb version, let alone a 220lb or even 250lb version! Don't get me wrong, I would love to see it in action, but I just don't think it could be done safely.
@Power53 жыл бұрын
@@absolarix have you watched tombstone or rotator or any of the spinners launch 250lb bots into the walls? The walls have been damaged but never penetrated. Not sure how this 250lb projectile would be any different than those.

What if you make the tooth mount more spread out/spiraled? So the recoil force wouldn't concentrate in one place

could you do a shuffle drive melty brain? weight bonus possibly and could still get a good speed
@BlitzRobotics7 ай бұрын
You should compete in nhrl!
@Term-07 ай бұрын
I wander how well a 3 wheeled melty would work. even though the tires would oppose, it should be able translate around the arena with just slip between them when spinning. This should get rid of gyro effect that tends to plage melty brains. the biggest issues would be that it would not be able to drive normally when not spinning, and there would be more complexity because if any of the 3 motors dies, you would not be able to spin properly. I do think that maybe some small slippery metal wheels at the back and front might help to eliminate the off axis gyro effect that slows down spin up.

Have you calculated how many kJ of energy Halo has stored at full speed? Do you know how that might compare to other 3lb spinners?
@spencerallen78045 жыл бұрын
3lb at a 5" radius will tell you the rotational inertia. Max speed was 1100 RPM. I just ran the numbers real quick, it's around 150J

How come you guys didn't turn the tooth around when you ran the spinning in reverse?
@spencerallen78045 жыл бұрын
The frame had bent so much that the sawtooth was essentially reversed. I think we kept it reversed too long, the frame actually bent back after a match or two. But eh

The real reason why meltybrains aren't allowed in Battlebots.
@RennieAsh5 жыл бұрын
Are they not allowed? I thought no one had tried yet ;p
@mentalrectangle4 жыл бұрын
@@RennieAsh It's been done before in old Battlebots (Y-Pout, Herr Gepoeunden), but the new show requires an active weapon with a separate power source from the drive. Melties obviously use the same motors to do both, so they aren't allowed.
@maceosikes4 жыл бұрын
The real reason is nobody has applied with a working one yet, they only break the letter of the active weapon rule and not the spirit of it so they could either modify the rule or make an exception. BB would be happy to have a cray new design actually work well
