Halo around the Sun - Spray Paint Art

Hi guys!! In this video, I'll be painting a Halo around the Sun using Spray Paint. A Sun Halo is caused by the refraction, reflection, and dispersion of light through ice particles suspended within thin, wispy, high-altitude cirrus or cirrostratus clouds. As light passes through these hexagon-shaped ice crystals, it is bent at a 22° angle, creating a circular halo around the Sun.

Very nice. I kind of liked it better without the rays coming out onto the colored part. Made it look like you were looking through a hole at a sun in a different galaxy. I especially got that feeling right after you took off the lid. Great job as always.

Hello Mr Barber, I just wanted to tell you how very talented you are and mthank you for sharing your talent with the world! I adore spray paint art and I do try very hard to do a good job, but alas, I am not an artist. I wish so bad that I could make such wonderful pictures like you do. But I can’t seem to figure it out. You truly are an inspiration. Have you ever thought I’d giving one on one lessons? And is so what do you charge?

Hi Pattijean, WoW, Thank you so much for watching and for taking the time to leave these kind words, the comment, and the feedback, I really appreciate it :) :) Yes, i have thought about that, and would find it very enjoyable to give lessons to people :) but it's just thought for now, I have a beginners tutorial step by step series on my channel where i explain and show you How to do different things, These videos may help you out a bit :) and one last thing i would say is take your time and don't rush things, and enjoy what you are painting :)

Hi Eric, Thank you so much for watching and for taking the time to leave these kind words, the comment, and the feedback I really appreciate it :) Most of time i just think of things to paint in my head while doing other stuff, or i'll read about something and think i could do a painting of that, In fact i was reading something about the sun the other day and in it there was something about sun halos, and how the halo is like a rainbow because the way the ice crystals are formed, i thought that would make a cool painting to do, so i came up with something in my head and painted it, which was this :) :)

Hi Jon, love your videos, especially when you cock up on a bit, instead of editing it out you leave it in and explain what not to do! I really love that! I have a few questions.. 1) when you say clear coat, is that a varnish? Or something else?? 2) can you do a video on tricks to fix issues and cock ups?? I really struggle when I am making a star and I spray the scraper and either miss it completely or put to much paint on and it drips.. The rest of my pic is awesome and then I cock up on the last thing!!! AAGGHGHHHHGHG!!

Hi Bob, Thank you so much for watching and for taking the time to leave this comment, feedback, and the question, I really appreciate it :) It's also nice to hear you love my videos :) Yes, the clear coat is a gloss/varnish clear spray paint, I will let you into a little secret :) At the moment i'm working on a new series of painting, where there are mistakes, things go wrong or things just don't look that good or work that well, i also explain how or why it happened has each one is a tutorial video as well, so hopefully in the next week or two i should have them all done and ready to go :)

Brilliant work again Jon. Are you paint on canvas?(what type, if you are?) I was getting info from a nice lass in art n hobby art shop on the materials I can spraypaint on. I can't afford to spend €60 a week canvases just to practice on. What a decent priced type of material I can paint on? I love the vids you did on space.which are all great. What spraypaint would you recommend using?I'd go for Montana 94

Hi John, Thank you so much for watching and for taking the time to leave these kind words, the comment, and the feedback I really appreciate it :) Yes, I'm painting on a canvas, I buy them from an art/hobby department store which they are their own brand of canvas. Are you from the USA? if so you can use poster board to paint on which is a few dollars for a few sheets, I think you can get it in department stores, I think one place is called Michael's and another hobby lobby but not sure if they are the right names lol as I'm in the UK. The Spray paint I use is from the montana range, I use that because I like using it :) but other brands of spray paint will work just fine, (Keep an eye on my channel as I have a video or two about this coming soon) hope this helps :)

@Jon Barber Art thanks for the reply.i love the post plus yout most recent vid.i coped on with the shading you paint with The reply ts really appreciated. I live in ireland.where I am, in the art shop it's about €13 for a small canvas.id buy 4 a week to practice on.im not working due to disability. on 1 of your last vids,it looks like your painting on a type of cardboard?I can't say the thickness/measurements. Hey there. I like your paintings. Do you prime the canvas before you start painting? What kind of canvas do you you? Can you please assit. I started painting on wood and would lile to also so it on canvas if I can fins the right one.

Hi Ilene, Thank you so much for watching and for taking the time to leave these kind words, the comment, feedback, and the question I really appreciate it :) The canvases i use to paint on are already primed when i buy them so i don't need to prime them i just pull them out the wrapper and start painting on them, The canvases i use are brought from a art/hobby department store, just make sure when you buy some they say on them that they are already primed, hope this helps :)
