Hey folks!
Yesterday 343 dropped the latest major update for Halo Infinite, dubbed CU29
The update brought some huge changes to customisation and provided players with an Amazing new set of free armour. But it's not all sunshine and rainbows as the update brings some clear drawbacks which is what we'll be discussing today!

I LOVE IT!! Played so much yesterday, spent soo much time customizing things now. For me, I treat Rakshasa as the evolution of Mirage/SPI, and now that there's cross-core shoulders, I'm able to edit the silhouette more.

"it's coming" they are going to write that on halo infinite's tombstone. I'm glad I work. If I were still unemployed I'd be even more tilted at the lack of content because I'd be on halo infinite every day.

I really enjoy it!! I main Destiny 2 and man I Hoping infinite would be good enough for when I need a break from D2. Don't know what it is now but I'm hooked. Definitely agree with being able to buy separate items in the bundles. Excited for BTB refresh. One thing I would love to see brought back is that covenant storm rifle from 5 or something like that because that pulse carbine just feels wrong.😂

I think that players should earn around 100 credits every time they rank up in the progression system. It gives incentive to focus on the progression system and allows people to cop some bundles within weeks. While it'd pull away from buying credits, I'd safely bet thousands of more players would hop on for soemthing like this, myself included.

Honestly I like that idea. 100 for levelling up, and like 150-200 for completing the weekly challenge. Maybe a bit more for the weekly challenge depending on how “difficult” it is

It would be amazing if their exchange-like system just used a common balance of spartan points between MCC and infinite. Incentive to still play MCC past unlocking everything, or a way to use leftover points for those of us who have balances. It's all linked to our MS accounts anyway, so theoretically it should be possible.

The idea of having a couple hundred credits as a weekly reward every so often is actually really good! It would give way more incentive to complete all the challenges and to keep people coming back so they can build up their points for things they want in the store

I know you covered how much you get for free, but to put this into further context i have paid a total of $20 on Infinites MP (S1 and S2 battlepass, then used the credit i got for S3, S4 and S5) so for that $20 I got all 9 cores with a total of 66 helmets, 58 chest attachments (core specific), 64 sets of shoulders, 20 gloves (core specific), 22 wrist attachments (cs), 31 utilities (cs), 35 knee pads (cs), 9 armor effects and 4 myhtic effect sets. This is not counting visors, armor/weapon/vehicle coatings or backdrops/emblems. I didn't count these because i did buy the campaign so im not sure how to distinguish them and this does count weekly ultimates which are free and the ops/events but seeing as those will become earnable in the future i was okay counting them. I say all of that to say quite a bit for what is essentially $20 and no additional purchases for the MP

The game is pretty damn amazing at this point, honestly. Ofc I want colored chest pieces and updates to Theater jankiness, but on a game level it’s the best the franchise has ever been.

As Reach fan and someone who mostly uses the Mk Vb core I can say with all the cross core options, colors, helmets, shoulders, and new additions for the core unique to Inifite that the Mk Vb I play in Inifite is what I wish I had in Halo Reach. Halo Inifite by far has the best customization.

i honestly think that they should transfer the cosmetics to the next halo game, i understand not doing that in the past games because of the shift in artstyle but if they refine the customization, keep everything from this game and add even more then it might just become the best customization in gaming as a whole

Haven't heard anybody talk about how the Mark 4 armor core is missing one of the original pauldrons as seen on Halo Wars hope is not locked behind a bundle otherwise the armor is pretty much a 1/1 well aside from the red stripe and UNSC insignia on the chest which the Halo 5 version did have alongside a whole redesigned pauldron though.

I think the red stripe was to signify Red Team, no? In the lore we see this often with teams having some sort of way to distinguish their team with like a piece of colour on their armour. You’re absolutely right about the shoulder pauldron though. I’ve seen so many people bring this up so you aren’t alone

Even if they don't make items individually available, 343 could charge the same amounts if they bundled items by type. Now that there are cross core shoulders, helmets, visors, and coatings....it would be awesome if they made a helmet pack, shoulder pack, etc... with 5 or 6 pieces for new players to quickly get new options.

Still need all season 1-3 chest pieces to inherit armor coatings. There's so many pieces I wish i could use but can't because they have been gray bricks for over two years now.

Still more options than reach allows, considering those attachments are preset. No other Halo allows you to use multiple chest attachments either.

@@MAGPIELEON Okay, but Reach can have more stuff at once on the helmets and chest. Who cares that previous games didn't have this option? New games should innovate. Vehicles have the same issue. Why can't I change the tires and the windshield at the same time? The weapons also... Why can't I customize the barrel and the comb for example? Same with effects, although I'm not a fan of those. Buying from the store would make more sense if these were fixed. One thing I know for sure is that my Reach Spartan has more stuff on him than his Infinite version. (Reach has also more blue on "Steel Blue".) Mark VI GEN3 should be a core. We could somewhat fully customize Mark VI in H3... Not to mention that Infinite is full of ugly rainbow and candy coatings and crappy looking armor pieces and attachments... Oh, and body types suck. Cross core shoulders aren't that good either since a lot of them are weirdly off positioned and there are some clipping issues here and there.

Again, reach just has preset attachments and doesn't provide the same freedom Infinite allows.

In halo 7 they should make it so that you can customize the color and pattern of each individual piece of armor on your spartan. I don't really like halo Reach's color customization because you only get to put two colors on your spartan at a time.

Like ten dollars once, and if you want a set for mk IV it’s now 30 dollars in total, otherwise the one time purchase of the battle pass gets you customisation for everything else

The winter update is free, there are frequent free events, there are ultimate rewards you can unlock weekly. You get free stuff if you pay attention and actually play the game

@@tacosmoothie6531 'frequent' - 343 literally said they're not doing the 10 tier events anymore and only doing operations from now on, 2 of which are confirmed, yes, but one is dedicated to chimere (a core that literally no one uses except out of spite) and an April fools pass with joke cosmetics so it will literally be another 3 months until there's a mild possibility to have the means to earn additional MK 4 armor. On top of that, weekly rewards have proven to be a joke (charms, emblems, stance, a piece of armor exclusive to a core) 343 have only confirmed helmets to be the upcoming weekly rewards so its complete gamble if theres any mean to earn additinal armor from now on. Don't defend 343's shady monetization schemes just because they throw some pity change at players

we should be able to use different coatings for different armour parts, zero excuse for it not being a thing, also armour cores arent a good thing, just give us one core that we can use what we want on it as long as we have it, like pretty much every other game, again zero excuse for that. Again something a lot of us harp on about, achievement base armour unlocks or weapon skin unlocks, 1000 snipes unlocks a sniper skin that changes the look of the gun, or 1000 melees gives us a special armour piece, we need actual incentives to play over and over again. the game is fun but with how dry seasons can get and with how many fillers the passes have it sort of gets boring quickly

I guaran-damn-tee that if 343 just drops halo infinite in April it would cause actual civil unrest. It would be the worst financial decision that 343 and Microsoft could make for halo. Halo 7 would not sell a single copy the community would tourch them.

343 are doing great on the paid cosmetics side of things but I feel like there just isn't enough free stuff (available to earn RIGHT NOW) to bring people back. There's no true sense of progression. A battlepass completion doesn't feel like going from Private to Inheritor in Reach. For 343s next game, I'm hoping they implement something more like Reach. $60, lots of earnable content, stable, plenty of game modes, no racism, a huge sandbox, good art style. They can still have an item shop too, but maybe just don't price it so egregiously?

I mean there’s a number of free coatings already, and you get even more for playing the game. Same with the base helmets of cores While I admit it does somewhat suck that some of the better ones have to be bought in bundles or through battlepasses, it doesn’t change the fact that the coatings and helmets in Infinite are objectively better

The problem with Infinite's customization is that, while there's a ton of options, and some awesome armor, it still feels extremely restrictive. No crosscore chest pieces, knee pads, gloves, wrist, and utility pieces, a bunch of coatings are still core-locked, no playable Elites still, etc. There's also a lot of cosmetics locked behind a paywall, or timed events, and the only notable customization you can unlock through the progression system is an armor kit. Armor kits also aid in making the customization feel restrictive. 3 and Reach's customization are so revered because it was customization without compromise. Cosmetics used to be the driving force for progression. You played Reach every day to earn more credits to unlock more cool armor and armor effects. You played 3 to earn some difficult achievements so you could earn cool armor. That kind of progression wasn't the only reason why people played those games (main reason being that they're fun), but it certainly helped keep me and many others glued to the Xbox for years. I get that they need to make money with Infinite, but maybe Halo just shouldn't be a F2P game in the first place.

This update went insanely hard. However, I think the prices in the store should be toned down, that way more peeps can buy everything. And even if this update was prettu good, there are still gonna be those who will continuously hate on this game coz, apparently to those peeps, "ABC didn't bring enough XYZ to this game with this new update", so I'd say tune them out and let them be miserable that they lost their happiness but we're still balling and living it up with the Mark IV.

@MAGPIELEON I'll prefer actual armor chests, forearms, and legs over knees and wrist attachments any day. We can scrap chest and leg pieces if you want. With complete armor sets, that's more armor cores than infinite. Like I said, the artstyle is what makes 4 get overlooked. Also, attachments make it get overlooked. I get the appeal of attachments, but I'll take actual armor swapping over add ons any day. The core system is close to 4 because of this. It's better than 3 and Reach for sure. Just not 4s. Infinite is just so close to being better.
