My only issue with the br is based on the dysnc issues. Can be very frustrating when your opponent is 1 shot and you put a full burst on their head and nothing happens. Or it looks like you got 2 full bursts and you melee and they don't die.

Put it this way. Every Series S play is going to completely be gone. We already don't play due to the imbalance and no optional crossplay even in ranked. Literally pushing out an entire platform. Try it for yourself. Most people can't afford a gaming PC or series x. As a series S player among many with a family to feed will just still to MCC and project sunrise where crossplay is optional in including in ranked. Pretty much if they take out Br and no optional crossplay, it will finally kill our whole section of the community off infinite for good.

@@Tod248 Are you normally playing on PC, and was the qualifier on Xbox Series X dev kits? How different did you find the experience? The reason I ask is that I play on Xbox Series X, I’m 1600 Onyx so I’m reasonably competent, but when it comes to the BR it just feels like I’m playing a different game sometimes. I have zero faith that my two-shot beatdown ever works, and the amount of BR fights that I lose where it looks like I’m hitting every shot is astounding.

Speaking of not knowing if all 3 br bullets hit your target, idk why they didnt keep halo 5's hit marker visuals. Since markers moved outward from the center of the crosshair, it gave feedback for every single bullet. Personally though, I would rather there be no hit marker and have the enemy shield glow be enough feedback as far as if you got a hit off or not. I felt as if that was more immersive, i understand it for competitive but imo hit markers take away immersion .

I feel projectile is best. It effectively limits the range, and it makes it so you don't have to lower the accessibility of high aim assist and burst fire. Maybe a bit faster than Halo 3's BR projectiles, since I feel it was too slow, more along the lines of the CE Magnum

My main concern is that Halo infinite's desync problem is going to get worse as we make the BR/starting weapon a more difficult weapon to use, cause any tiny lapses in concentration or stutters in the game are amplified by an unforgiving netcode and a high skill gap so these two issues *NEED* to be addressed in tandem. That being said, I think making the BR shoot a slower projectile similar to h3 would be a great start, especially since halo infinites movement is more advanced than h3 and thus less predictable, creating the higher skill ceiling that h3 missed out on. I'm a halo veteran and I am happy to admit I'm biased but as a kid, learning to lead my BR shots consistently at different ranges was such a fun and interesting challenge, and learning about it before my friends meant I was always the final boss of LAN sleepover 1v1's for a while but eventually teaching my friends about it was a great experience too.

All these people complaining about the BR being too easy should just pick up the commando and sidekick and dominate every game. BR has one of the slowest TTKs in the game that's offset by its ease of use and availability. Thankfully we have actual game designers in charge of Halo instead of these "pro" kids. They're going to complain no matter what.

@@LiamYager in Halo 3 it was skillful cause it had longer bullet travel time and u had to lead ur shots also the spread was wider. in halo 2 the BR was a lot like the Infinite BR and no one really complained then... i think maybe just because it was new and the button combos added a lot of complexity

Ah yes, the "actual" game designers that designed a game that lost like 95% of it's player base in about 6 months after launch. Yup, they're the ones I want in charge of Halo... lol. TTK means literally nothing in a vacuum. The ease of use of the BR is FAR higher than the Commando and the Pistol, so the faster TTK of those weapons is completely irrelevant because when you average out the TTK in ACTUAL REAL WORLD SCENARIOS across entire games, the BR is going to actually have the faster TTK because it's easier to actually hit shots with.

Wow, banger after banger. Yes, the BR is too easy to use lol Edit: The DMR will be equally as easy to use if the assist values are remotely similar. If the DMR is going to be the primary weapon for HCS/Ranked, it needs to be tuned for competitive play. Think skill gap. With all due respect to 343, they clearly have an issue with catering to competitive fans and increasing the skill gap in any way.

I swear weapon variants are the answer. They're already in Infinite. Say worse aim assist, very slightly faster killtime. Nobody would bitch about casual and competitive having different settings, then, either--even though prior halo games have had that.

Of course it's easy to use it's the only weapon that feels good to use. Why nerf it? aim assist is basically nonexistent and now you want every gun to feel like shit.

I completely understand the logic behind the opinion that single shot weapons fundamentally take more skill, and I disagree. The argument is that for optimal damage you have to have perfect aim for each shot when you pull the trigger, so you can't do partial damage if you drag your crosshair across the target as you shoot. But the part these people ignore is that the inverse is also true. To do optimal damage with a burst weapon, you have to not only aim properly at the start, but also track your target throughout the duration of the burst. With the single shot weapon, I need to get 5 snap clicks right. With the burst weapon, I need to get 4 snap clicks right AND 4 tracking drags right. I can aim perfectly on all of my precision clicks, but if I fail to track properly for a single bullet, I'm heavily penalized. Awesome video, by the way. Horrible clickbait title though, I really hope you don't continue down that path considering your content is good enough to stand on its own.

I agree with this comment ever since Reach introduced back a long range single shot precision weapon in comp it made things so much less skillful. Everyone thought the DMR's issue was bloom.... then bloom got removed entirely and the Reach DMR still didn't feel right.... almost a lot like the H1 magnum (wayyyy too strong) a balanced BR where u have have good flicks and tracking is always going to be mroe skillful than a spam trigger and delete u 5 quick shots type gun... even if those weapons have heavy bloom if makes it even worse because it introduces randomness to gunfights. i swear H5 kids just want the starter comp weaon to be the striker sidekick from campaign... Reach ZBNS all over again 🤣

Your argument is flawed also. You obviously internalize the Halo 5 magnum or Reach DMR as the single shot precision weapon in question, because they have very generous amounts of bullet magnetism, allowing the aiming method of snap-flick shots to be the most viable and efficient, otherwise this method wouldn't work so reliably like they do with those weapons in their respective games. The method of perfectly aiming the BR would also apply to single shot precision weapons, if they had the same aim assist/bullet magnetism/bullet spread as the BR. It's the AA and BM values that influence the most viable aiming style for a particular precision weapon. The firing mode of the weapon is completely irrelevant.

The pro players simply should not be who 343 turns to when trying to improve weapon balancing. Changes should be made based on the statistics of the most average players in the total player base, not the 1% that the pro community represents. I would wager that the BR already borders on being overly skillful for the average player, but in any case, it’s definitely not what should be taking priority at 343 right now.

the only real problem is that sometimes shots are not registered. this is very frustrating and makes the game inconsistent, one game you are a pro, the other a noob... I had a game in which I shot 3 times with the shotgun and looking at the replay I didn't shoot anything, because apparently my magazine was empty

Hey Shy just a heads up for CE it's not 3 headshots it's 2 body 1 head. First 2 shots take off all but a sliver of shield and the headshot finishes the shield and all of the health. Just wanted to clear that up.

Man I LOVE your videos and passion for Halo. I'm not even a sweaty competitive player but I watch all of these because they're so well put together and you have a great approach to so many subjects in Halo. What I'm always mostly concerned about is that the game changes negatively for casuals when they're adjusting things because some pro(s) start complaining. Like the best player of all time said in the tweets; Halo is already the most difficult arena shooter to master so they definitely don't want to make weapons too hard to use. That's one of the main things why people prefer Apex, CoD and so forth; they're a lot easier so a lot more people can feel they're doing well in the game. I think many guns are in a really good place right now and if anything maybe they should consider making some changes for HCS only. Yes HCS only, not even to ranked. Side note; good God I personally hate the way H5 looked and plays. Constant thrusting all over the place, thank God for how Infinite is classic+modern. Beautiful balance.

I agree with this. Didn't we have MLG settings vs Social/Casual settings in Halo 3? That seemed to work and I don't remember pros complaining back then? I could play some sweaty 4v4s in MLG matchmaking and then hop into social slayer BTB. Only differences were a slower TTK by 1 burst of the BR, radar and slower movement.

Use both in the next title as options for primary starting weapons. Balance them. Games could start with everyone either having magnums (like H5's) or BRs. Imagine Optic vs Faze on mainstage: Game 1 is Slayer Magnums on XYZ map. Game 2 is CTF BRs on XYZ map. And so on and so forth.

One factor for the ease of use of the BR is the recoil it has. It bounces up to the head when aiming at the chest in its ideal range before completely resettling before the next shot. If they rework it so the per shot recoil is lower but it doesn’t fully resettle so you have to manage recoil for the last two shots if you’re firing as fast as you can, I can see it not dominating at all ranges while not feeling awful

Really enjoyed the video. They should just make it lok like the reach dmr with the scope as well. Just add a good amount of recoil when scoped. I just can't help but feel like a H5 magnum that looks and sounds more badass would solve the long range problems and would urge you to pick up a br or a commando still.

The fast strafe and crouching combined with desync and server issues make the BR annoying because it’s hard to tell how many of your shots register. You may be in them for all three shots but in the server’s mind they’ve already crouched or strafed and you miss the last bullet or two. With a single shot, you either hit or you miss. Even with desync, you know when you fire blanks

I play infinite on a high level, all of those issues listed are not new, go in and expect that every game, and don't miss your shots. I have one of the highest damage per games and accuracy in rank playlist. No excuse, account for variables if you can even call them that since non of it has been fixed. That's assuming you were even around before Halo 3. I can take these pros to school and Shy, he can attest to that. I welcome all who want to send me a message for 1v1 or to compare stats. Not only on infinite, on every Halo. Shys fan base are Wannabe HCS players from Halo 5 that saw MLG on a rockstar can one day. You have the same pros on the scene with no potential for new teams to jump in. These kids make less than 100k a year and play all day. There are not enough LANs or local tourneys to introduce fresh blood, and the prize pools are jokes. Sure if you make under 100k a year winnings + team salary might be middle class. But at the end of the day they are pussies who think they own the sandbox, know what's right, and demand changes that are only being asked for by them. It's honestly ridiculous? She had a video with Nina saying listen to this clown with blue hair. Shy I have news the competitive Halo scene has been dying more and more every year since reach. They can dream of a stadium full of people, but at best could barley fill a YMCA with the lackluster attendance, ratings, game development, and piss poor earnings. I love you and Ynot and have watched both of you grow since Halo 5. I love the energy that you guys bring to the table as well. But the only thing Halo infinite needs is servers to be FIXED, a couple more maps, and a VETO system. At this point in the game make the DMR a power pick up on the map, maybe one or two spawn up. But changing starting weapon for rank now? Community is already dying, why take away what they worked so hard to master ( I love the way that DMR from the videos) But how will that affect the ranked community? Think about how many people wanted to get rid of the DMR since its introduction, then it was off to Halo 5 "This is the worst halo and the pistol is g3y" Now it's Halo 5 was so great and the pistol took so much skill, and DMR? LETS GET THAT BACK ITS THE ROOT OF HALO. We need to get 343 to fix the servers. Stop these BS videos, every content creator for halo. EVERYONE LOBBY FOR MORE MAPS, A VETO SYSTEM, AND MOST IMPORTANTLY SERVERS THAT DONT PLAY LIKE SHIT. They would make me pay 10-20 extra a month for premium server access. Low onyx player here. 18:59 talking about the range on the BR. So much yes. I think being able to zoom in across ENTIRE maps without having to sacrifice hardly any accuracy doesn’t help the sandbox. I’m all for nerfing the effective range a bit.

Don't mistake gun-bob for recoil on the bandit. What we are seeing is good feedback to train us in bullet pacing. It likely only has random direction bloom just like commando; full auto close range chest to head in 7 (commando) and likely chest to head in 5 (bandit)

Simple fix ... Make it projectile instead of hitscan Make people lead their shots again Just like in H3 Then people who aren't as skilled as these whiny pros can move around the map without getting beamed with the hitscan BR. Aside from that, this version of the BR that we've got now is by far the most skilled. You need to be super accurate against fast moving Spartans and landing that final headshot is wayy harder. Of course pros are going to think it's easy, they play against other pros who play 10 hrs a day. Everyone is sharp at that level.

Very interested to watch this video. I will say before I even watch I love the BR. I wouldn’t mind having a playlist for ranked with maybe a magnum and then the BR. I don’t think ditching the BR is the exact answer.

Trick is low player count. I feel like social is for more casual players and ranked is for those who want to play competitively with settings that really let you express your skill--so there, BR really isn't the answer. 2 loadouts to choose from, AR/BR in social, perhaps? Or just have social games switch between them. *Maybe* they could make a 3rd main playlist work but I doubt it.

People just like to complain. The battle rifle IS Halo. Halo 2 BR was by the far the most satisfying. Mastering the double shot and bxr actually took practice and that separated even the skilled players. If anything changes I hope it moves toward OG halo like 2 or even 3 but moving in the H5 direction will finish off Halo all together.

8:49 i also think it has to do with the way shields look when taking dmg too, after a certain point the shield effect changes so little that you it doesnt (to me atleast) communicate dmg dealt as well

I felt pre-patch the commando should have been the starting weapon for ranked. It isn't the most accurate at longer range, it can be difficult to get the final headshot and going full auto isn't always advisable since you can miss shots if you aren't staying on target. Now though the commando is maybe a little too easy to use. Just my 2 cents I think if there was greater recoil and perhaps lower aim assist when going for the headshot it would be better. Look at the stalker rifle for instance, generally I feel it is more balanced. It doesn't behave like a jack of all trades weapon.

from what I heard i think infinite was initially designed with the commando being the main starting gun. but at the same i dont think the community wouldve taken kindly to the precision weapon being a slow firing fully automatic weapon

@Kaimerah yeah if commando was the starting weapon I got when launch up the game for the first time I'd of probably turned it off and never play again. I legitimately mean that too, it's kinda the same reason I didn't play Halo 5, though I gave the game a bit more of a chance than just turning it on once but I honestly hated the pistol starter. It was a good weapon, but the issue was it made the rest of the weapons feel pointless/useless aside from say rockets or snipe. It made it feel like the game lacked a variety of weapons, as to where in Halo Infinite and the commando just felt underwhelming and bad to use in my opinion I felt like no matter what I never win fights against other weapons with it and because of that I never use it. So it being the starting weapon would of totally killed the game for me and it'd of just been Halo 5 all over again but instead of a weapon that's too good to start with it'd of started with a weapon that's completely awful. Well awful in my opinion at least.

Love your stuff Shy. That said, HCS pros sometimes just have awful opinions & this is one of them. They are a fraction of the player base who are 1) highly skilled and 2) have put thousands of hours into the game. A lot of pros who say this also haven’t even cracked top 4 & could use some humility tbh lol I can also promise you a harder BR isn’t what’s holding back Infinite from a higher player count. A reliable but not overpowered utility weapon is part of the foundation for appealing to a wider audience

Soo many things to touch on here. 1 thing being similar to what i think (cratos?) said about leave it "easy". But not just for accessibility though, but I think ppl miss what is "competitive" Just because something is "easy" doesn't make it less competitive. This is usually my argument for hitscan over projectile. projectile is "harder" but usually not as consistent and doesn't give that instant gratification of flicking your cursor right onto a player to hit them. (witch is arguably more exciting to watch as a viewer as well when someone makes a quick, precise turn around move on a player) Like Pong is easy and simple. its 2 sticks going up and down catching a ball, but it can be suuuper competitive at the same time, cause its just how the players go about utilizing their simple tools and strategy to best the other player. This is actually the thing I liked most about Halo 2. I did abuse the button combos tho of course, but also it was so basic, that it kinda forced ppl to be better at other things like crouch jumping into weird spots, learning to suppress fire with the BR on certain angles etc. etc., and it very much so increased the amount of teamwork needed, while still maintaining a great deal of individual skill and outplay with accuracy (h2 obviously my fav) That is not something i can see a DMR type weapon achieving. maybe a few of those things, but not all. on the fun side, the BR to me is MUCH more fun to shoot, and satisfying to hear with the sound design. but of course that's just me. So there would be an element of "fun" that would dip by a large margin for me. I didn't even have to mention the iconic'ness of the BR either. thats a given. So above all, i dont see it being the BR thats an issue with "shooting" in Infinite. They could easily tweak strafe speed, crouch speed and behavior, damage fall-off and accuracy etc etc in order to get it similar to how the previous BR's felt to shoot. Its like we are forgetting that ALL of that has to do with how a gun feels. Not just if it has aim assist or not. Change up a few setting with how it all works, and the BR would be absolutely perfect in all ways, skill, fun, iconic, versatile etc. no need to change it really. but of course im the odd man out so this'll all probably be ignored with "But the DMR is more skillful!" lol

Agreed with the "If they remove BR I'm uninstalling". I would feel horrible having it removed or nerfed into the ground. It's such a f**king cool weapon. It's unique looking, sounding and hot damn it's so satisfying to kill with. One thing we don't take into account is pro players play this game every single day.. far more than more casual players who are still interested in occasionally playing competitive and I think that sheer difference in hours played means that you're gonna side with a new weapon over a weapon you've already fired 500,000 times. What if we did both? Br and Pistol sidearm starts? I guess whichever is faster TTK would take over anyway so yeah not too sure.

I will always stand by saying that Bungie dropped the ball by not embracing button combos in future titles. They literally could have changed the fps scene with it like Street Fighter did. As far as Infinite, I don't personally find pistol 1v1s like from H5 entertaining, so I'm more biased towards the BR. But I ultimately agree with Frosty in that the biggest issue with the game is the sandbox and 343's insistence on every gun having a viable role. Competitive doesn't need every gun to work well, it only needs a few at a time, and which ones are used can be determined by each map. But the sandbox needs to be more specific and minimal. I'll also say that I find the lack of being able to express individual skill in Infinite is its other biggest drawback. In previous titles, you could be down a player and still win. That is impossible in this game

I think an interesting middle ground would be to have the starting weapon be dependent on the map-mode combo, it would be more complex to balance, but i feel it would add more nuance to competitive and the game in general.

call me crazy but i’d much rather have BR starts on certain maps and DMR starts on other maps. for example catalyst with the infinite DMR would be dope since longer crosses and the pillars at each base. then if you play a map like streets we all agree to BR starts since there’s a lot more room for error to miss looking up and down ramps and staircases. and to possibly take it a step forward, we can still have the BR as a power weapon on DMR starts, and the BR could have lets say 2-3 clips of bullets vise versa with the DMR. (and we could replace the commando for those who don’t like it lol)

Good breakdown! I'm a big fan of the TTK debate, especially as it relates to the gap between pros vs. avg players. Halo CE did it the best in my opinion, and CS is another great example. I know people think that gap makes games less accessible, but that's a really shallow view imo. Yes, it's harder to pick up and play, but it incentvizes to get better, and it's more satisfying when you do. I think it'd also open up a whole new world of improvements to SBMM since they're inherently working towards the same goal. (Sorting avg players from pros) It's a shame we never got to see how it would've played out in the glory days on XBL.

Put it this way. Every Series S play is going to completely be gone. We already don't play due to the imbalance and no optional crossplay even in ranked. Literally pushing out an entire platform. Try it for yourself. Most people can't afford a gaming PC or series x. As a series S player among many with a family to feed will just still to MCC and project sunrise where crossplay is optional in including in ranked. Pretty much if they take out Br and no optional crossplay, it will finally kill our whole section of the community off infinite for good. It's fine it's pay to win via platforms. But the pros who complain about the experience. I challenge you to get to onyx with a series S on stream. First to do it I will personally give $40. I just want this to be understood and listened to by all.

Overall, I prefer magnum/DMR, but agree the BR is in a decent state. If it's possible to truly balance DMR vs BR and be able to choose the starting weapon, that could be pretty cool to see. I enjoy that aspect of comp COD- where there are usually 2 AR players and 2 submachine gun players on the map. Not sure if that sort of dynamic would work in Halo, but it's an interesting thought.

I'd just like to see the reticle friction for the BR toned down a bit. Start with the left stick reticle friction, as described in the video. It'd still be the go-to weapon but would take a bit more skill to track your target.

Lower reticle friction and raise bullet magnetism. The game practically aims for you which is not rewarding. Increasing bullet magnetism will make the guns feel good while still requiring you to be on target

Increasing bullet magnetism does the opposite, you can aim further off target and still be gifted a hit. If the game aims for you already, why would you increase this aspect lol? Just keep BM the same, reduce the rotational sticky AA a tad, maybe shave off a little bit of red reticle range and remove any trace of spread. And if these changes extend the average TTK too much? Then maybe speed up the rate-of-fire for bursts. This would basically be a hitscan H3BR with no RnG and just a teeeeeny bit faster. Which, now that I think about it, sounds like the Halo Online BR. There. That's a good comp weapon, right there. Less random, harder to use, doesn't beam as much, but has the same potential lethality. Speed up ideal TTK, lengthen average TTK = stretching out skill gap.

my take: -BR: projectile like H3, long range difficulty. -DMR: as in Reach after patch, no bloom. In both instances reduce AA and magnetism until 30-50% accuracies are the average, basically as a human can do by aiming himself with a mouse. I would do as someone suggested maybe some variants or maps change startin weapons, to spice things up.

When focussing on weapon balance in any discussion, everyone should always remember everything attributed to a gunfight, not just the guns themselves. If this were painting and you were mixing colors - you're not going to be able to mix a perfect color of orange if one of your paints is blue. *So everything has to compliment everything.* Everything should be brought into question - and also everyone should be saying where their preference stems from. Is it H3's weapons or H5's, etc. What is the strafe like compared to other games. What is the sandbox like compared to other games. What are grenades like compared to other games. What mechanics are new or different compared to other games. *Outlines* for example present players with an easier image to target & shoot at. You know if you're missing because you can see your reticle isn't within the outline box/boarder of the player's silhouette - it's highlighted to you. It's debatably harder to target a player without an outline, but how does it translate if you replaced their outline for a team armor color. Would players blend into the background more, and if so, would that make weapons 'harder to use' or 'easier...' *Accessibility is what we need.* Being able to tinker with Speeds and Rates and Settings across the board. How the hell is the community meant to know what works if we can't experiment with it ourselves. Gravity, velocity, heights, damage, strafing, firing rate, outlines, armor colors etc. It would be much more useful to build playlists and tournaments around customized settings that 343 can promote (via the community) - rather than everyone shout into the void and leave 343 to try and find some coherency in what we're asking for. If pros can GM a weapon type, then why not provide them with the ability to also GM setting types. That might sound like a lot of work for everyone to do, even the pros and the community - but the ones that care will find a way to make something that works. A group of devs at a facility is always going to be outmatched by the millions that have their own preferences. Promoting those preferences to their own corners, rather than trying to find something that works for everyone - which seems better?

Best Halo had BR. When I fought ppl 1v1 it was BR mlg settings. I never played H5 and I hated Reach. I can’t explain clearly why, but BR = Halo franchise in my mind.

I'm thinking of making an fps game where the pistol has the firing rate of the ce/h5 magnum and 3 headshots is a kill in 0.6 seconds while 4 bodyshots and a headshot is also a kill. my goal is to make the game and high skill ceiling as possible to prove that a high skill ceiling is always inherently better for online pvp. there will also be ability options which will include a h5-style thruster pack. however, my game isn't halo so I'm going with a loadout system with a smaller, more equal-balance-oriented weapon pool. all the guns will have about the same perfect ttk of around 0.6 seconds except the sniper and the shotgun (I have a plan to make the shotgun balanced dw)

Loved the DMR once it was optimized.. especially the sound... best sounding weapon (maybe H2 BR comes close or H1 magnum in H5). Definitely felt like it had more power (more recoil) and effective range. I think going the bloom route isn't the way with how not so random random stuff is in Halo (think spike nades, it just how nades bounce in general, fusion coils, random remote detonations from missed shots). I think adding recoil is the way. It works with the commando and in Val it works well. Totally agree,.Don't like the design of the bandit either ,.they want to change that if they want happy players

18:10 Bloom is added into Halo specifically to level the playing field between a lower-than-average player and an above-average player. Consider that when a player can "spam shots" and luckily receive a headshot, it provides them an element of non-skillful fun without requesting the player to be skillfully accurate with the weapon. By utter contrast, CE, 2 and 3 all featured variants of spread, with CE having one that deterministically acted such as bloom, and Halo 2 adding a recoil mechanic that was offset by aiming at the chest. Halo 3 added a random spread (Widely hated at the time), which provided the same benefit you receive in Halo Reach, except at a lesser degree. Traditionally, as each Halo iteration went on, the attempted trial was to lessen the differential between expertise and novice without actually decreasing the playability of the game. Halo Infinite started off fresh and was an attempt to bring the game back to it's original starting point, however as "flights" and then "live date" rolled around, lots of changes were made to make the game significantly easier at the floor than what was originally intended.

It would be great to have a choice. Maybe even letting us choose a combo. For those of us who are casual players in match making. I do best with the AR and pistol. Boring I know but affective for me. I would start every game with those weapons.

If you want to get a taste of choosing between the BR or the DMR only, play some matchmaking rounds of swat in Halo 4 on MCC. Equal starts with no map pickups but you can choose the BR or DMR based on your preference. BR is easier up close, DMR is easier at distance from the hip. Both are viable in that game so it's not unrealistic to expect a similar implementation could work in comp.

When it comes to how the guns fire, I think that burst is generally harder to break shields, but easier to land the headshot. This "partial credit argument" doesn't make much sense because there are plenty of BR shots where your first round hits, and the second two miss. If it were a single fire, you would have gotten full damage. But landing the final headshot is definitely harder on single shot. So there is an interesting trade off there, but the bigger issue is likely about aim assist. You can make a 5 shot magnum with super high aim assist and it will be way easier than Infinite BR. I would be interested to see average accuracy and TTK of pros across the different games

Being a M&K player I can confirm DMR as the starting weapon will be best . Tracking using the Br and landing all shots is tedious and requires a lot of focus to the point where the map awareness takes a hit. I'm also down with the loadout idea presented in the end .

How about the Reach style loadouts that just pop up on the left when you die? I think it'd be fun. Surprised to hear the back and forth on the skill topic cause I always thought the DMR was way easier than the BR and didn't think it was a hot take. BR always felt frustrating to me cause you could land a shot then something happens and you miss the rest of the shot but DMR is just so simple and clean. A hit is a hit and a miss is a miss. Hot take: Hydra starts pls but with no lock on.

Dang, I hoped a headshot modification would be cool. I wish that was more feasible. I think that would be the way to go. Keep the autoaim stuff as it is. Just adding a headshot modifier would add quite a bit more skill to BR fights or whatever weapon is chosen.

My 2c on feedback: I hated Halo 5 grenade information, but at the end of the day at least a 1% dmg splash gave same info as an absolute grenade dmg marker. Do not change sound or marker indication for 3/3 bullet hits. Even Spartans cannot tell whether a bullet flying ~>900 feet/s are each on mark... probably.

Also one thing I haven't heard is the argument for MNK no AA br starts/competitive. Micro-Strafing actually matters, hitting perfects are hard but super rewarding. Also commando before update on MNK ranked playlist>>> Some of the most fun ranked play ive got from this game before the playlist died

If they must get rid of bloom on the DMR, then they should reward perfect shot timing. Similar to the Gears active reload but for your actual shots. Say, if you fire your subsequent shot within +/- 20 ms, you will be rewarded by firing at a slightly quicker rate of fire than if you just lazily pull the trigger within an insanely large time window (standard rate of fire and how every Halo currently functions). This would be skillful and more realistic, but would also require the servers not to hiccup/desync. PS: Please don't nerf the Commando (again).

I'd prefer it if they simply added an alternate, single shot rifle to the starting zones of all ranked matches and nerfed the BR a bit. But I'm with that other guy, if ranked no longer has BR starts, I'm uninstalling. It's the only infinite game mode I like and I'm already annoyed with 343. Removing BR starts would be the final straw. All the gatekeeping pros can go play in a corner by themselves at that point.

Regardless of if the br has the ability to inflict partial damage, if the opponent tracks better and lands full bursts instead of swiping and hitting one or two, then they melt the opponent with a perfect. Also when I watch pro gameplay and ther accuracy is on average 50-55%, you can't tell me the weapons are "too easy". Once we see 85% or more on average I'll agree but until then there's PLENTY of room for skill expression

What about having different starting weapons? Sometimes BR starts, sometimes DMR, sometimes pistol. I agree that H5 and pistol starts enticed players to pick up more weapons and helping mix up game play. Different weapon starts could help make up for the lack of maps. And imo, it would take even more skill to know how to handle different starting weapon gameplay. Rather than just being well trained in the BR. I’m sure the pros would heavily disagree with this though.

Yeah man I agree. The trick is, BR's a classic weapon to so many now (myself included) and already people are salty that ranked is *supposed to be the competitive playlist of the two* as opposed to social. I don't completely get it and sucks that it can turn into such a toxic mess when discussed. BR starts mixed into social, perhaps? Idk. Unfortunately there's not the population for a 3rd playlist in the middle of casual vs comp, though. Anyway. The Battle Rifle feels good to use imo but its skill ceiling is low by design as it gives "partial credit" and you can aim for the chest. That's not a good weapon for competitive play. And I'm not the best player in Infinite but I still like settings that allow for more "skill expression," as you call it, and know many others do too. Because of that ease of us, to balance it, Battle Rifle actually has the **second worst killtime in the game** by a considerable amount--or had. The Plasma Pistol buff may have changed that lol. I'd love the magnum, no bloom. That's one of two things, imo, that Halo 5 got right. The DMR could work even better, with more individual outplay potential given the larger mag. Good video.

Also--the other thing I liked about Halo 5 was the thruster pack. Could pull of some sick plays with it... and it helped balance stuff like plasma pistol. If we had Halo 5's thrusters in this game on spawn, even the current plasma pistol wouldn't be an issue in high-level play. So I'd personally like nerfed Thruster on spawn. Can still pick up other equipment of course... and then there'd have to be some way to toggle between them.

Put it this way. Every Series S play is going to completely be gone. We already don't play due to the imbalance and no optional crossplay even in ranked. Literally pushing out an entire platform. Try it for yourself. Most people can't afford a gaming PC or series x. As a series S player among many with a family to feed will just still to MCC and project sunrise where crossplay is optional in including in ranked. Pretty much if they take out Br and no optional crossplay, it will finally kill our whole section of the community off infinite for good. It's fine it's pay to win via platforms. But the pros who complain about the experience. I challenge you to get to onyx with a series S on stream. First to do it I will personally give $40. I just want this to be understood and listened to by all.

@@Vffhndsercchi That's why a middle ground would be nice. Halo's always had casual and comp options, sometimes it had middle ground settings as well. Unfortunately most players in the competitive playlist want a competitive experience tho. At least for those desiring a middle ground (competitive settings except for a skillful primary weapon, for example), one isn't too far off from a decent experience in either direction.

For starter weapons and just the sandbox in general we need the Halo 5 Magnum or at the very least the DMR. I would prefer both. Hell I want the Needler Rifle(Blood of Suban) back as well. I miss other weapons too like the SAW, Rail Gun, Classic Shotgun, Binary Rifle, etc.

My personal opinion make the dmr the replacement of the commando or stalker. Rewarding swipe fighting is just to make maps a lot more ranged fights. Remember, 4 out of 5 shots needs just to hit the body to get a perfect you're between shots. You're giving a lot more opportunity for leading shots instead of tracking. Overall, I enjoy having consistent tracking. NO LOADOUTS every one spawns with br or dmr. Maps will always dictate different metas for weapons and areas if dmr is just better with range and then nearly shuts down some approaches with a br without actually obtaining power weapons
