Think it made an appearance in one of the books (First Strike MAYBE), though it wasn't explicitly stated it was that variant

It was mentioned in Ghosts of Onyx, it’s an attachment for a normal Pelican called the Blood Tray.

@@kpmh2001 the blood tray is just a nickname for the pelican’s troop bay. The extension was never seen in canon, but was implied in the original fall of reach book. The pelican that took the spartan II candidates to the training reserve was later retconned into an Albatros in the 2010 reprint, the fall of reach comic, and the fall of reach animated series

Another fun fact is that the shadow/specter is actually seen in the CE SPV3 mod. It’s actually a pretty common vehicle and fit well into halo ce

well CE is like legally zero since everybody but you and cortana died but those other games might be interesting!

If a faction losses something they get buffs to compensate for it, if they had vehicles they would have been stated in a way that made it balanced, removing something for balance only works when that choice would only be nonviable, or broken because the faction shouldn't have a unit that preforms that role, so none of which applys here

and the thing is, the covenant wouldnt be left out and wouldnt need a new vehicle since all their vehicles float and should also technically be able to float above water

I know the mantis is in halo 4, there was halo 3 vehicle called the mantis that was cut. I think that was where 343 got the name for the mantis in halo 4.

Halo Wars wasn’t even meant to be a Halo RTS, Microsoft wanted it but Bungie didn’t like the idea of another developer working with their IP. Oh, the irony.

@@austinhinton3944 No, Bungie did not like Microsoft making a game with their IP that they owned at the time. They did help Ensemble when they had questions about lore and continuity though. Kinda like brothers understanding Dad/Mom is being a dumbass again. Microsoft then laid off Ensemble staff and screwed up much of their development process, before finally axing their studio to save money.

I didn't know Ensemble tried making a Halo RPG. I do know the Halo Chronicles MMORPG was developed with oversight from Peter Jackson. Bungie and Peter Jackson wanted desperately to make something Halo related. Microsoft kept ghosting them before all ideas were dropped and they gave up.

I know Microsoft issued a cease and desist order against a fan made RTS mod called Halogen. It was for C&C. It was really cool. It happened before their announcement of Halo Wars.

You can look up gameplay of halo reach test footage, they actually do show off this vehicle traversing over waves which is really cool. The test footage still uses a lot of halo 3 assets because this was EARLY gameplay, there’s also a mechanic to mount hunters and lodge a grenade in their back too. Very cool stuff.

Go to 1 minute in that video and you’ll see the boat warthog

I honestly didn't like the idea at first but reading this changed my mind. It could be pretty interesting to if they implemented Spartans inability to swim as a take down tactic and perhaps give a swim perk or something on a Loadout

I wonder what gives the Specter specifically such a cult following. Not to say I don’t like it, but there are some people who REALLY like it. Cool vehicle, but some people are fanatic! Not knocking that, by the way. Only makes me love it more.

@@aetherace8775 I always loved its design, and the fact it’s a warthog that has boost. If you put it on a map with warthogs, obviously people would choose the warthog, but having a map with only two spectres on it? Would offer different variety in how maps play.

While I like the idea one of the powerful things in the Halo sandbox is the ability to use or ignore vehicles, and pick up items along the way. On a water mission, you cannot do these things. So it'd have to be a mission similar to Halo Reach's Falcon mission where you frequently touch down and continue on foot. This is one of the reasons Halo 4's big-dumb-vehicle mission is so bad. It forces you to abandon the ghost, warthog or wraith you collected, to get your butt back on the big-dumb-vehicle, to cross big-dumb-acid rivers. No sandbox, in a poorly managed manner 😬
