Does anyone else feel like running through a brick wall for Cutter after that speech?!?!?! Or is it just me?

The worst part about this speech is that it ends

This is why Isabel is such a great character who absolutely shouldn't be confined to Halo Wars. Created to value logic and reason over empathy, she's actually able to bypass her programming and understand the sentimental and human concept of going down with the ship.

I think I figured it out. Isabel said the portal between The Ark and Earth was shutdown "few months ago without warning". Halo 3 and 5 have like 4 to 5 years of difference, and in Halo 3, they mentioned that they evacuated the Humans and Elites before the firing of the ring. Which means the portal was shutdown to not let Cortana reach The Ark, since she can't find it; as Spark mentioned, each Installation has a very limited knowledge of the rest. Halo Wars 2 took place some time after the Fall of Earth.

What’s amazing here is that Cutter manages to turn their situation into a rousing speech, while very tacitly leaving out that they don’t *have* a slipspace drive, and even if they did, UNSC drives are so slow (and surviving Condor drives recovered on the Ark are unsuitable for such vast distances) they’re effectively still marooned at the Ark either way. Then it gets turned the other way later with Atriox offering to spare their lives out of respect for their courage if they get out of his way. Presumably he’d have been okay with them retreating to their ship if he’d been aware Spirit of Fire was unable to leave (and knowing his background he’d have tried to recruit them if he could; the Banished are no strangers to human mercenaries and Atriox takes it very personally when his subordinates treat otherwise loyal Banished humans badly) but Cutter spits on the offer, showing his own defiant courage in this scene is -not- just to cover for their inability to flee.

I like that everyone on the bridge barked "oorah" as one, but the real world Navy equivalent is "hooyah", just a nitpick because one little detail isn't enough for me to raise a massive fuss over.

the only problem i ever had with this and the Halo universe as a whole really is they staff navy ships with marines as general crew rather then the boarding/assault party they should be

I would't want to die for Cutter, i'd want to live and tell the universe about him because he and the crew of the Spirit of Fire deserve it.
