On March 2, 1896, the Ethiopians fought a battle that would be remembered throughout history. The Battle of Adwa was a contest between the armies of Ethiopia and an invasion force from Italy. The Ethiopians won that battle, and escaped the shadow that was colonialism on the African continent.
