I cook in the same way but my husband doesn't like tomato and even dad is not allowed to eat tomatoes due to gall stones so i add 1 TSP of tamarind pulp. It gives nice flavour too.

Bohot achhi recipe...daal ka pani phenkna nahi chahiye, uske saath nutrients bhi nikal jaate hain. Chhaan ke rakh lein aur baad mein usi ko use karein.
