In international law, nowhere does one find that the occupying force has the “right” to defend itself. Instead, it is explicitly written that an occupied nation has the right to fight by any means necessary for its freedom.

Idf casualties are far higher than what are being reported. Does not include Idf members who have died from injuries in the Israel Hospitals. Also as in many conflicts "mercenaries" are also fighting for the Idf , there casualties are not being reported.
