During the 115th day of the ongoing Gaza war, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) faced a dual assault from Hamas. Between January 26 and 28, the armed wings of Hamas, namely Al-Qassam and Al-Quds brigades, unleashed a relentless attack on the Israeli Army. Hamas proudly claimed responsibility for the operation, asserting the destruction of a total of 11 Merkava Tanks.

Propaganda goes a long way.Faced with a conventional fight in the desert(no cover) Israel would do well against its neighbours.The issue it faces, is that Israel is a very small country that cannot afford human casualties.It can afford material losses because the US will replace everything lost.As such Israel does everything it can (incl.illegal) to minimize losses.Israel cannot afford to keep its army mobilize(it wont have an economy in 3 years) or to lose large number of soldiers in a Bahkmut situation.Let's say Israrel loses in 10k dead and 100 k wounded,for a country like Russia that would be nothing,but for little Israel it would mean the end of any goverment.Besides that it would mean maybe the end of the state.Who will want to be a settler or a citizen?110k casualties out of 300 k in one war is a disaster.Citizenship renounciation would reach 30% of population.To avoid conscription of their children people would do anything,since Hamas is nothing compared to Iran,Hezbollah,Egypt.... If Israel's advantage is reduced to inflicting just 3x more casualties to their enemies,than they don't have a change since they are outnumbered 100:1. Israel's hope is that US intervenes and protest regarding losses don't start to wreck the country.They will trade their entire armored force just to avoid 5k Kia.The armor will be replaced by the US even if it means the US army has to train with broomsticks or a while.
