That reminds me of Ayrton Senna in a way. Senna would make ridiculous passing maneuvers that would result in a crash if you didn't back out, to test your mental breaking point. He would remember that you are easily broken and use that to his advantage for next time. Or they wouldn't back out and and he would remember that too. It seems that Max just might have that edge.

Lewis gained by 1.5s lap after lap and got stuck in dirty air for a while. Still, Max was on 30 something laps old SS while Ham was on fresh Softs. He did great, he made Hamilton make a risky move and never put himself in a position where Ham could just blast past on the straight.

You forget to mention Max's other qualities: 1) superb tyre management 2) superb overtaker 3) superb defender 4) superb rain driver 5) superb in informing the mechanics about car setup 6) etc. He was still just 20 a month ago.

Thanks for elaborating his strengths in detail. Tire management is a team work between his car/engineers and himself as a driver; Max can thank the strong red bull team for that. Defending, overtaking, superb rain driving and his first lap charge from the back of the grid are talents that is his and his alone. No matter how great your engineers and race team members can do, a talent driver like Max can make a difference. Again, I really hope he wins more with Honda and Red Bull. With the right car, he could still break a lot of records.

True, he is a pure racer who still needs some fine-tuning and maturity at times, but he's getting there. Every driver is criticized at some point in their lives, and Max kinda stands out sometimes with his crazy moves on track. Still he is so exciting and fun to watch I can forgive him for that.

In 07 they had same amount of points. In my opinion Alonso is the best driver ever. He never had a best car on the grid (except for 05 an 06 and that is a maybe) and always managed to perform.

One thing I will say about Hamilton that over the past couple of years he has been the cleanest and fairest racer on the grid, he tends not to brute force push people wide or hold unfair lines when overtaking or defending.
