Great review man, I like your delivery and style.. very chill, informative, and no nonsense. Was definitely considering this watch - looks amazing in Bronze. I heard they made the buckle in Ti because it's a skin-contact piece, and those surfaces (like the case-back) are better suited to be something other than Bronze... not sure if some people are allergic to Bronze, or sensitive to it, or something along those lines. Thanks for the informative review!!

Great review!!! looking forward to more watch content. This is an amazing watch and a all around bargain. Rugged, casual, functional, and looks amazing with some patina. Bronze is a humble metal and it's really the workhorse of metal's. I will get one this year hopefully. My grandfather worked in the second largest copper/bronze mine in North America. Drove a CAT 797F mining dumpster trucks. My uncle was a geologist who excavated for copper/bronze and other precious metals/minerals. So to me there's some family connection to bronze.

I love this piece but have a couple questions: does the oxidation process risk staining lighter coloured clothing? And I really like the patina on this watch but when I look up other watches, they show up very green/blueish. Is this likely to happen on this one in the long run or is it very specific to the specific environment it is kept in?
@watch_luver
@watch_luver 2 жыл бұрын
Hello Sam, Didn’t have any issues with light clothing - once the bronze is dry you should have stains. Patina wise, I saw one little blue spot yesterday- which I like. Bronze being a material and alloy that changes all the time, you can clean it anytime and make it almost as good as new (hence the beauty of it). There are specific environments that can make it patina faster but I let you look online what these can be (much easier for you). Cheers!

Fantastic patina with terrific photography that showed it very well. I have 2 bronze watches that I let naturally patina for a little more than 1.5 years but if I were to get one of these Hammies I'd want to achieve what you have here. When you put your watch in the bag with the hard boiled eggs, did you allow the egg to touch the watch? Did you purposely 'apply' the mashed egg all over your watch or just sit it next to the egg allowing the vapor to create the patina?
@watch_luver
@watch_luver 2 жыл бұрын
Hello Adam, thanks for the message! No, no need to touch the watch with the eggs, what is important is to have the eggs hot and steamy, to seal the bag well and to have the yellow part of the eggs well exposed. The fumes of the eggs is what’s important here and what makes the bronze patina. Take care

Hello Gabe, I hear you! I went for bronze for 2 reason: 1) I love how it ages and how it will never be the same as anyone else’s. 2) it was the first bronze watch from Hamilton. Of course the looks drive me crazy but I also liked the looks of the other ones. It really is the taste that will determine which one you chose, but I really don’t regret spending the extra cash for the bronze - well worth it. Hope that could help - take care

The patina on this watch is beautiful, it looks amazing! And can You or the viewer tell me whether my Seiko Presage SSA426J1 covered with Rose Gold galvanization will also acquire a similar overtone over time or should I rather count on discoloration from creams, sweat, oils or hand disinfectants (since the latter it has become visible discoloration on the coating). I'd appreciate an answer because it's really bugging me!
@watch_luver

Hey there, thanks! No, galvanized rose gold won’t patina the same way as bronze. Bronze is very particular in terms of patina and you won’t get the same. Stunning looking patina indeed although I was a bit disappointed that you had to force it and it's not naturally developed over time. In general your review is great though, good information and stories, great delivery and nice macro shots. Also well edited. Looking forward to your future videos! At 1:48, when you wind the watch, after you let go of the crown, it spins backwards. What's that about? My steel Khaki Mechanical doesn't do that. In fact, no watch I ever handled did that. Kinda wish I had the bronze version though after your review, well done! Also, please don't get tempted by the KZfaq clickbait stuff like the capitalization that you use in the title. Just pump out quality content on topics that interest people and you'll grow nicely.

Hello, thanks a lot for the message and feedback. Yes, the patina is amazing! I understand the potential disappointment, but it was either waiting some 10 years or so before doing a video (and most importantly I bought the watch because of the patina looks!) or forcing it. The good news here tho is that you can always clean it off and make it new-looking again and let it age. - I know it does spin backwards, not sure what that is. I'd have to get that checked out - never saw it either in a mechanical watch. Not necessarily an expert in movements but I have friends here in Switzerland that work in the watch making industry so I'll ask them. If you are able to get this watch for yourself you won't be disappointed. - Clickbait-wise, I like to emphasise some parts in my titles as an overall. I am mainly a pro photographer (I have 3 other big channels) and I normally do this in my channels. I do take note thought! :) - Again, thanks a lot for watching and am glad you enjoyed it. Do some online research. You could go for a swim but since there is no screw down crown (normally found on 10bar up watches) you might get water in - at your own risk. It even says « short periods of swimming - no diving or snorkeling ». How do you go 50m under water without dive or snorkel? Take for example 3bar (30 meters) it says « everyday use - no swimming ». So how do you go down 30 meters then? See what I mean? Sure you technically could shower with it - but for the price of the watch, it’s construction and the materials I would highly advise against it.

If you have a small wrist, and the lug length is a concern, wear it on a bund strap. The bund makes it wear as if you have a larger wrist.

Hum? Not a dirty watch - needs upkeep (that’s the downside of bronze). Low ATM - I agree with that

Good review and nice watch. Not sure I'd want to shower with a leather strapped watch. Frankly, I don't need to tell the time in the shower.

Titanium is hyperalergenic where as bronze can react with skin the same as copper

I don’t get how the WR is such a dealbreaker for people. Do you want to go swimming with your watch that bad? And who showers with their watch on? You also wear socks and a beanie in the shower? And fyi, I know people who regularly go swimming with their Speedmasters on. 50m is fine for surface lever swimming. Also, I’d recommend not wearing the watch (or any watch) on a leather NATO strap, since it will make the watch sit higher off of your wrist. Get a regular two piece strap and it will wear way better.

@watch_luver 2 жыл бұрын
For me, the WR is important and yes, I always shower with my watch on. Be it a Rolex, a G-Shock or a Tudor - I do do that. 50m is fine but if anything happens it’s on you (if you read and follow the manufacturer’s instructions). True on the NATO strap, it does make it bulkier and more raised, I agree with you. I love that style of it but doesn’t sit as well as a 2 piece strap. Cheers

So sad to see Hamilton cut corners on this $800+ watch with the buckle. It should be bronze. It is not touching the skin more than the side of the watch case or crown itself for example. It is a balony to say they put Ti buckle because of the buckle touching the skin. If the strap is on the wrist, the buckle barely touch the skin anyway. Poor design decision for sure.

I would not call it cutting corners. Titanium is not exactly cheaper than bronze so its more an intentional choice than cost cutting.

It was made this way to help prevent allergic reactions with it's wearers. This is the same reason the case back was not bronze also. If you knew much about metals you'd know many people are sensitive to bronze. This was not done to intentionally cut corners, and in the long run is not cost effective at all by using titanium in it's place. It's a welcome example of cooperate responsibility, and brand integrity. This information has all been made public via Hamilton. I'd have hoped you would have reviewed, let alone this poor influencer, this information before making such a negative comment . My point being maybe do 10 minute worth of research on your own, rather than depending on KZfaq for information, or as is the case here misinformation.. which sadly is far to often the case. Do this little bit of work on your own before you comment on something like this and continue the spread of bad information. ✌

Why bother paying that much for a Khaki - which is basically an imitation of their vintage GG-W-113/MIL-W-3818B, when you can pick up an original for about $450, or less? As the for the opinion of the crystal, the sort of person that would buy into one of these, would no doubt enjoy looking at their own reflection.
