I think the stuff Terence talked about is a little more airy fairy which more people can understand whereas Dennis is more pragmatic and hardcore science which is not as accessible to most people. Terence was by no means some kind of anti-scientific person or force, and Dennis still observably concedes to virtually all of Terence's main points about the phenomenological 'airy fairy' stuff as well. Because they pretty much came to these conclusions about the phenomenology of psychedelic tryptamines together, in Colombia in that 3/4 week period in 1971. Terence only came to these conclusions in the first place by trading notes with others and gradually picking up on the underlying archetypal schema implicit within these experiences induced by plant and fungi-based hallucinogens. Terence was just focusing on and/or mastering the art of hermeneutic phenomenology so that he could be as accurate and as exegetical as possible in his breaking down and general overall assessment of the intersubjective motifs and thematic layering demonstrated by these natural hallucinogens. And thanks to Terence (with the help of his brother), we now have relatively modest and concise, but still hauntingly accurate "maps" or layouts (at least preliminary) of the "psilocybin mushroom space" and the "ayahuasca space" as it relates to their recurring and intersubjective archetypes and the implicit schemes relating to the analytical concept in psychology and philosophy of the mind known as 'aboutness'. This is a majorly important aspect of the work they contributed, with modern psychonauts still building on top of it today and extending its details. And if we as humans ought to be hermeneutical about *anything* for Christ sake.. like anything at all, of course it should be with plants/fungi/nature instead of some anthropogenic, overly-pedestrian piece of "wisdom literature" if we're really looking for some kind of 'fingerprints from the Gods' left behind or any sign of anything theurgic or numinous to interpret and analyze. If such breadcrumbs are left behind, it's clearly going to be present in nature, organically in the global biome if it's going to be anywhere. And I say this as someone whose borderline obsessed with books. Either way, the phenomenological analysis and hermeneutical approach Terence utilized was very important and one of the most useful, for example when studying history/anthropology.

In my personal experience I find cannabinoids in high doses mess me up and make me more anxious then high doses of psychedelics

I’m 29 and I’m back in school studying chemistry. It’s not as glorious as watching videos makes it sound. It’ll be at least a year of basic chemistry, balancing equations, calculating shit, etc before you get into the organic chemistry. It’s interesting for sure, but challenging and you won’t be learning about drugs for a bit.

Actually through nasal administration 5-Meo-DMT provides a more traditional and colorful psychedelic experience IME (though definitely still unique and "grand" feeling if that makes sense), though ymmv of course and I do not encourage anyone to try this route given how little is known about it and the extra risk involved with the roi in general. Though it is definitely psychoactive this way as opposed to n,n-DMT. At the time I was unaware that you could simply use sodium bicarb to freebase the salt, which is what I had, so that was my only option available and my experience contrasted with all I had read on the 5-Meo-DMT experience. Others have later corroborated this differences between administration routes.

I have used MMDA (5-methoxy-MDA) quite an amazing compound. It produced these closed eyed internal "movies" for lack of a better term. More realistic then typical CEVs from more classical psychedelics

On Ayahuasca you do get a truly impressive insight into other people's minds, you see what they're saying so clearly, and you see stuff they can't see even, you don't get a direct connection to anyone's brain, ofc, but your intuition gets to a level that's so high, that you can simulate a seemingly very real experience for that person in that moment, it's a level of empathy really deep, it's all ofc your brain's best guess/interpretation, but it takes into account the tiniest of tone differences and word choices, facial expressions and all that You feel like you are the other person, idk But you can really see when someone isn't listening to you, misinterprets what someone else says and just every single detail Even brain to brain communication can appear to happen, but it's a misinterpretation of effective non verbal communication through micro cues, I think I don't think there's anything mystical behind it, it's just the subjective interpretation that fits that belief Like people thinking positiveness helps cancer, I mean, depressed people probably have lower survival rates, so a positive person might have better results, sure, but that's a far too simplistic interpretation It's not even wrong, just not at all like any of it works, even when it appears to explain the phenomena too But ultimately reality is far more complex and chaotic than even science could ever explain, although it'll always be infinitely better than mysticism. I don't think studying empirical experiences like these is useless, but one has to be aware of their Brain's biases and yet be sure that there'll always be a bias to it that you can't take off I mean, i get why people interpret psychedelic experiences mystically, it is subjectively magical for certain, but choosing to believe that interpretation instead of pursuing a deeper, more complex truth behind it, is well, delusional.. Don't believe anything at first, find out why would your brain try to put it like that and what's the true information behind it. Ego death can be interpreted both "I'm Jesus reincarnated" or "We are a way for the cosmos to know itself", it does make you understand why people would interpret it like that, but there's not just one interpretation, there are infinitely many, we have to reason which are the most coherent and plausible _Feeling_ like you can read people's minds is ok, brains can create that feeling. Thinking you really do have a direct access to someone's thoughts is delusional tho

But so much of consciousness is unexplored...funny, one of the most profound experiences I ever had was a spontaneous OBE back in '81 or so...just suddenly left my body. I was meditating a lot and working very hard... whatever caused it, it was sudden and total - i was simpy a consciousness floating in white light...in the distance were color designs that I knew were beings of light. When I popped back out it took a couple days to really be back in my body. Strangest thing, no psychedelics involved. Started to happen one other time a few years later, but since then nothing like it.

Psychedelic drugs do not dull the senses or anything like that. They help you see things differently, hence the ability to see things from many perspectives. It’s like plugging your senses into an amplifier with effects on it.
