Күн бұрын

In our second last week of Lost in Kruger Luxury edition, we head to the beautiful Hamiltons Tented Camp for a few nights! The camp its self is beautiful, Out of Africa inspired, with a old East African Safari style.
We had a great time, and had some unbelievable sightings!
I hope you all enjoy, and please do let me know what you think?

I think it’s important to be able to show the variety of types of accommodation one can stay at plus it gives us more of an insight of the different styles from tents to luxury plus you and Bianca definitely deserve a few pampered’ evenings considering how much you do to promote our beautiful country and the amazing work you do to protect these beautiful animals. Fantastic sightings, great info thank you for sharing!

Were you able to visit the Jabulani herd? The leader, Sebakwe, is very sociable, and a bit of an ad campaign celebrity. The youngest member is an albino girl named Khanyisa. A spoiled princess, she was rescued from a poacher's snare trap. She was horribly wounded, and for quite some time her life was despaired of. She is surrounded by loving, attentive carers, and a whole herd of elephants who guard her ferociously. This herd is not to be missed. Ask about Fishan's story, it's amazing.

looking forward to the overlanding videos. Don't like the luxury series. We in the park once a month and cant afford to go there and never will, unfortunately the latest videos completely disconnects. The most relatable part was the disclaimer at the beginning, we did appreciate that. Not meant to be negative, still get our likes and subscribes. Happy travels

Why are wild dogs endangered.?
@LostinAfrica
@LostinAfrica 2 жыл бұрын
A number of reasons, they have huge home ranges and are hard to keep inside a property, so they often end up on private land and get shot or poisoned for taking livestock. Also because of their incredibly tight social structure, normally only the alpha pair breed, so a pack of 30 dogs only has one breeding female, sometime the beta breeds as well. And lastly also due to their close family structure if they pick up a disease (often from poachers dogs), it runs through the whole pack. EWT are doing amazing work to try build the population back up though.

A good entry . …. Most normal westeners cannot put that financial amount down for a “private reserve “ in Kruger … what is by the way a National Park . So why some lodges have taken (robbed ) some areas of the National Park so regular visitors cannot enter those “ private/ restricted areas , i think that is injustice and a shame . See the S28 …. the whole southern part along croc river ..where cheetahs are spotted very often is blocked by a sign … Disgusting really .

I have to disagree. Kruger strikes an incredible balance and is probably the most affordable big five reserve in the world. Unfortunately in this modern world, wildlife has to earn to be safe, so tourist revenue is an essential part of conservation.

I had the chance to stay at this place twice. While I had the most amazing experience of my life for the first time I stayed here nearly 6-7 years, my last visit there was the biggest disappointment of my life. Being a hotel professional, I believe there was a change in management during the years. The place is incredible, however there have not been any refurbishment in the last couple of years at the place, and it feels a bit rundown. What made this place incredible earlier is the true hospitality. While my last visit, it was horrible, they only cared about an Indian VIP family at the resort, and the tips from American tourists. Food is horrible there unless you have the chance to dine with their French chef, who is amazing!!!! Staff smiles all the time in the video, however in reality it wasnt like that. Note, that the current situation in South Africa is not the best for white people. You are literally not welcomed there...like it or not, that is the truth. Hamilton is in the middle of the Kruger National Park, so wildlife sightings are pretty much limited, because they are not allowed to drive anywhere they want. You get to see much more wildlife in the privately owned parks. I believe this could become again an amazing property, but with the current management, it is so not worth paying thousand of euros staying there.

Hey Peter, interesting as we have only been there once and thought it was great. We were not paid to make this, so this is exactly our experience, so the staff smiling at us was because the staff were smiling at us. But I am by no means a hotel professional so have no idea on the inner workings. The thing I will completely disagree with you about is the game sightings being limited in the middle of the park, and they are allowed to drive throughout the concession and in the public access roads in Kruger. The only areas they can not drive are the private Sabi Sands and Manyaleti.
