Looks great with the truck rims. Needs some chrome stacks. Vacuum leak maybe spray soapy water to see bubbles

Thanks for another great video. It was interesting and enjoyable. Sorry your vacuum line fix did not repair your situation. My experience tells me it could be a lot of things wrong. Believe you need someone skilled in that area that knows how to track down the problem. Am sure you can locate someone to help. Your wheels look super sharp Hank. Dressed your truck right up and gave it a big truck look. Nice!!!!!!!! Thanks for everything Hank. The Iowa Farm Boy.

We do the same thing with our cardboard (and old newspapers) - they work great for keeping the weeds at bay where my wife has her flowers.

Hank the chilton manual for your truck repairs says there is a door vacuum control assembly on the inside heater box that has a vacum hose to it. also it has 2 heat control cables! This is outlined in the Chilton manual sect 3-14! Also I love a Pretty Black truck with bright shiny Aluminum rims. I had Alcoa rims on my Freightliner & my Wrecker. You just can't get over how Gorgeous they make a truck look! But remember to take Pride in your ride!

Rims look good great Hank. Sometimes the older trucks can take you down a rabbit hole chasing leaks. Just look on you tube and you will figure it out. Have faith Hank.

Hank that year had a big problem with the vacuum. Here is some advice. We u start the truck up turn the Air conditioner on then press down on gas pedal it should switch it to vent. I owned that year for 13 years. When I press down on the gas pedal it would switch it to vent

Wheels look great ! As for the a/c vent issue, it’s all vacuum actuated. Several vacuum lines that may have deteriorated over the years under the dash. Probably have to pull the dash out worst case scenario ! Have a Blessed Day

Hank, there is a Vacuum line that goes from the engine thru the firewall and to the controls, make sure that is not damaged or disconnected, the one you fixed is just for the recirculate door. The one you need typically goes thru in the middle of the firewall or a little to the passenger side. also look behind the controls, you can unhook the vacuum harness and see if it has vac suction at all.

I would start by checking your vacuum pump first. They do fail sometimes.

Use a piece of yellow weedeater gas line. Works every time. Truck looks awesome. There is an aftermarket vacuum line kit that I got for my 97 but I'll have to pull the paperwork an get back to you.

Hey Hank. When u fill up Add about a gallon of hydraulic fluid to your fuel. Injectors will thank u. I work on these powerstrokes all the time. I ve ran it in my fuel on my 6.0. Never had injector trouble. Old truckers trick

Check the vacuum manifold behind the switch. Another problem area.

Those rims look awesome! You gotta get rid of the 7" cartoonish exhaust tip. I think a 4" chrome turndown would look/sound real nice.

I saw that you didn’t get a change when you repaired the vacuum line, but you didn’t look to see if the vacuum motor worked. The small arm on top of the blower box will rotate when it is supposed to operate. Check to see that it does in all modes. Being a diesel, everything that works on vacuum relies on the engine vacuum pump. I had to change mine on my black 97. It helps to have a vacuum hand pump to increase the vacuum and listen for leaks without the engine running. Much Luck!

Check the blend door in the plenum, may be stuck shut, stuck open, either way. Check vacuum hoses in the plenum too. Plenum is of course under the dash.

I have a 92 F 150, I put a new heater core in and mine started doing the same this. Guessing I didn’t put it the cables and lines back together right. Easy to find, it’s behind the glove box.

Man! That looks awesome!! 😎👍 Really makes it POP! Nice choice and nice work! The HVAC problem could be with the dash controls, they redirect where the vacuum goes. There's little tubes in the back that go to the different actuator doors and stuff. That's what I'm thinking. Thanks for sharing Hank!!

Rims look good , i would have left lug nut covers off till i drive a few days, retighten, then put caps on . Welding rig coming along good. Hank, replace all the vacuum lines , take a day do it! Make sure the main vacuum line hooks into carb area.. get a book.. you tube it.. lol

That canister on the air box switches front normal to max AC. Check your vacuum pump. Old school diaphragm ones known to go bad alot. They did on my IDI 7.3. The newer SD Powerstrokes have an electric vacuum pump.

Have that same flashlight I think - magnetic base, has a little round recharger? Works great to click onto a metal part and shed light on the work surface. Love the rims! Got an OBS 10-lug SD that style would look great on.

the line you replaced is the temperature blend door actuator which is locked by the cable tie so it cant move

truck looks real sharp with nice shinny alcoas on! 👌 when using steel inners and aluminum outter rims use a gasket between the 2 rims steel and aluminum dont get along too well and if they touch it will corrode your alcoa rim. also i hope that you have access to the inner tire valve stems? great video! i love that ford truck 9th gen! best ford truck made to my mind!

check and make sure the vacuum pump is working it should be on the top next to the a/c pump if it is weak your brake booster maybe using all the vacuum up. If you have a vacuum gauge if not Habor Freight has them they not that much. Check where you hooked the vacuum line up to the valve and make sure you have vacuum to it if you do the valve might be stuck. I had to repair my line also like you did and replace the valve. Check and make sure you don't have a leak under the dash. Hope this might help you find your problem.

Hank I did not see you do so, but I suggest you use anti-seize on all of your lug studs and where your chromed wheels meet steel (front hubs and rear inner wheels) these are prime locations fir corrosion from different metals contacting.

Check under dash there should be a vacuum actuators for hvac blend door Check linkage if attached you can test with a mighty vac tool Or just change They are pretty inexpensive

If you look on the top of the radiator support or under the hood there should be a vacuum diagram on the emission control sticker

There is probably a vacuum pump on that truck somewhere, as I don’t think that engines with a turbo have vacuum in them. You might want to find and check the pump with the gauge, to make sure it’s producing vacuum.

Diesels don't generate vacuum anyway (no throttle plate) so there will be a vac pump, probably camshaft powered.

7.3s have serpentine belt vacuum pumps as the brake booster uses vacuum as well. If the truck was a 450 or “super duty” of that era it would have hydroboost

Vacuum pump is on top driver side next to the power steering pump. Driven by the serpentine belt.

Hank 2 common problems are the hard plastic lines cracking. The pros use a smoke generator to test where vac lines are sucking air. The second big problem is the blend doors having issues-frequent breaking of plastic pins for the pivot of the doors.

Try a vacuum hand pump to check the doors on the heater. could be vacuum doors don't work due to vacuum on the doors.

There should be a black and white vacuum hoses white one goes where you put it the black comes out next to the white one and goes back across your motor towards the vacuum pump but before it goes across your motor it tees off to your evaporator box then it runs to your brake booster then to the pump

Check your the box behind your glove box or under your radio in the the dash(blend door),to make sure it is open and closing..I have a ford truck and my was doing the same thing as your truck is doing..

The switch it self is a common issue ... after they get hot the plastic back plate warps ... listen for hiss at the switch even a small hiss .. bad switch "selector" best to pull the small panel it's on but don't go HOG WILD on pulling it due to cables also.. you will see exactly this issue I speak of.

I was hoping it was a four wheel drive truck but using covers on the front hubs says its not... or am i? just don't really know if they made a OBS two wheel drive rig, non the less, getting rid of steel wheel covers is a huge success. You break a rim with a cover over it, you are lined up for big troubles. I like your wheels better than the factory aluminum wheels I had on all of my trucks back in the day as they were only a few dollars more to get back then. Those rims were the small holes in the decoration of the wheel n hard to get a air hose inside of them. A smoke machine will tell you all of those leaks including the switch itself on the vacuum side of the switch... vacuum is opposite of pressure lines so no pressure, just suction.

Blend/mode doors were known to break. Could be the actuator. But.... That vacuum line you fixed has little to do with any of it. That just actuates the recirculation mode.

My 97( same body as yours But an F-250) had a Similar Problem Look close at the Vacuum pump Drivers side Pulley I think its between the Power steering and A/C compressor. ( near that area) look at the Rubber lines coming out. and Fallow them Some of the ford Vacuum lines Have color codes. I will bet this may also be why You cruse control does not work. You may even have a Vacuum diagram on your hood or core support. on gas engines its require because it's part of the Emissions circuit/system. My brakes are Vacuum but you most likely have a Hydroboost because of the Towing and load capacity. Good Luck, and Love the Rims. 7.3 Rules. LOL strange coming from a GM guy. take care.
