This has long been a favourite of mine. It remains relatively unknown, which is a shame as it has some glorious dramatic moments and lovely melodies.

Simon Keenlyside is one of the best actors of Opera. Sometimes I think he is the best, even compare with the supreme Jonas Kaufmann. His interpretation vocal, physic and emotional is global and powerful. With him, we understand the contemporary opera is an acting art!

Eine überzeugende Inszenierung, ohne Selbstverliebheiten in eine skurrile Hyper-Psychologisierungs--Dramaturgie; modern im klarsten, dem Werk dienenden Sinne; hervorragende Sänger und eine ins feine Details gehende musikalische Leitung durch Maestro deBilly... ein Ereignis der Spitzenqualität aus dem berühmten Opernhaus Barcelona. Die Wiederentdeckung der Oper lohnt!

Beuutiful scenes and marvellous music Majestic and dramatic . Hamlet and Ofelia are difficult parts. The king and the queen are also difficult .

Wait, I thought Ophelia drowned, this took me way off guard. Also very cool to see her singing to no one when the libretto I found clearly has the choir present.
