Today we're looking at how to hammer out a simple form cuff. This only takes a couple of hours. I begin with 6mm round, fully annealed silver wire.
I should really have annealed it between the steel block and the mandrel, just to make it easier.
The finished product is work hardened and very durable. This is an ancient technique with endless possibilities.
I'll show you how to anneal silver without "fire stain" in a video coming soon.

Very informative video! I'm taking a jewelry-making class soon and I'm excited to try my own attempt at a cuff bracelet. I took a look at your website too and your engravings are super cool, I particularly like the bird-themed rings!

No annealing? No ear defenders? Nice finished piece. Good tip about how to straighten bends.

Is there a reason you don't anneal the metal to make it easier to work? By the way fabulous bracelet!

I noticed you did not mention annealing this at all. Don’t you have t periodically anneal the silver?

Great little bracelet sir, but as 47 years of making jewelry would’ve likely taught you, annealing in between processes would make your life oh so easy. Heck, you’d avoid the step of bringing your peen hammer back to remove stretch marks, because you wouldn’t have stretch marks to begin with if the metal were annealed prior to forming on the mandrel.
