Just bought my first Edward I penny off eBay. Mostly on a whim, as i usually collect later milled coins. Gonna be a lot of fun figuring out what type it is. Fantastic video. I like how you really drilled down on the details of the presentation

Nice presentation. I usually collect ancient coins, but have recently picked up a couple Edward IIIs. This really helps.

This was absolutely brilliant. I recently purchased a job lot of 6 coins at an auction that were said to be 2 Edward II and 4 Edward I. I have spent hours reading and attempting to understand the differences. This video not only taught me so much but it was extremely helpful as to take my mind away from looking just at the Crown. Congratulations, a great educational tool.

Only got 3 right. Was sure I'd spotted No Neck Ed, on the 2nd coin. Of course, very insightful, & interesting. (2 were lucky guesses, but I remembered him saying Ed 1 had the full Latin Rex, that's the only 1 I was sure of. Looks like those 2 yrs of Latin, Mom forced me to take in HS are finally paying off👍)

Nicely done mate! It’s extremely difficult, even a video like this can’t showcase the sheer size and complexity of this coinage. But hopefully helped a little 😃

I enjoyed this, especially as a new collector myself. It's a shame the examples shown on the video are not all that clear. So it's hard to differentiate, but I guess this is a skill I will eventually pick up and learn nevertheless.

Thank you for your comment and were glad it helped you! We didn’t want to use perfect examples, as it would be easy to point out parts of perfect examples, which would make ID lesser examples harder, so we used coins that are widely available for all. You’re right, it’s something that will come will practice! Get subscribed for one video each week covering all things hammered coins 😃

In the Lettering section of the video I am still a bit confused. It says to look out for those lettering differences but I don’t know what lettering corresponds to Ed I,II, or III.

A bit sceptical at first but when you get right into it there were some little gems of tips in there. I'm only a detectorist but this will help me identify a couple of mine I reckon. Thanks 👍

Your video is great, thank you! I purchased a coin that indicates it as either Late Edward I or II. I am unable to identify it. Is there a email I can send images to or another way I can get them to you to help me identify them? Thank you.

I`m totally confused , the lettering on my penny which I bought as an Edward 1st has flicks on the lettering indicating Edward 2nd , the portrait is all within the beading and has a long neck indicating Edward 1st. Part of the legend is hard to work out but looks like EDWARR to me . Its Canterbury mint .

It would have been better if you had gone through each class with their specific characterisations such as the easiest way with the crown and then the lettering style. The way you have done it will confuse learners.

Hi Ian, thanks for your comment and dislike. If you have a look on my channel, you can see seperate videos we have started that go through each class. We have done classes 1 & 2 so far. Hope this helps.
