@VaratharajahVaseekaranBVB

Parity bit 1 (P1) is chosen by the presence of 1 in the binary representation of the positioned place as the least significant figure, that is 1, 3, 5, 7 etc. (3=011, 5=101: in these the least significant digit is 1) For P2, binary representation of the positioned place as the second digit from the least significant figure should have 1, that is 3, 6, 7. (3=011, 6=110, 7=111) *hope I explained it clearly

@supernectar5022
@supernectar5022 4 жыл бұрын
haziq micie Well take P1 for example, you don't know it's value yet, that's what you want to find out. For that you will sum all the values that are in the 1st position, 3rd position, 5th position and so on, so you end up with: P1+1+1+0 For the hamming code to work, you need this sum to give you an even number, therefore P1 must be 0 because 0+1+1+0=2 and 2 is even To know what positions you need to sum for each parity bit, note that P1 checks the 1st position, jumps the 2nd position, checks the 3rd position, jumps the next one and so on, P2 would check 2 positions starting from itself, then jump two positions, check the next two and so on. So in general, the nth parity bit Pn will check n position starting from itself, jump n positions, then check another n positions, jump n position, and so on And just like that we satisfied the even parity

Numbering for message bits code is done from the wrong side......
@alananthony7762
@alananthony7762 5 жыл бұрын
what if there's 12 digits and all 4 parity bits are wrong? The error bit would then be: 1 + 2 + 4 + 8 = 15th bit, which is out of bounds of the word limit...
@alananthony7762
@alananthony7762 5 жыл бұрын
I realize now that that condition cannot in theory happen as the hamming code only recognizes a single bit error... :P

@ManishSharma-lo1ql
@ManishSharma-lo1ql 3 жыл бұрын
because to satisfy the even parity, in case of odd parity ,you have to take 1 in the place of those bits ( if the number of 1's in the 4 bit binary is even is called as even parity ex: 0110,1010,1100 ,etc. and if the number of 1's in the 4 bit binary is odd is called odd parity ex: 0111,1101,0111 ,etc.)
