37:20 really cool how the referee asked for the replay immediately because he wasn’t sure about the shot. The technology is there, use it. Don’t let pride get in the way. I use the slow-motion on my phone to video shots that need to be watched closely. Gets rid of all doubt.

That was an excellent bit of 9 ball there. I, as a citizen of the U.S., was rooting for that young lady the whole time. What a wonderful lesson in safeties and kicks. She out played him for 10 or 11 racks and then he found his stroke again. Great showing from all parties. I like both players and they both deserved the win there. Great shape and strategy! Good commentary too. Muey bien. :-)

I fully agree on having the ladies join this event. Especially since the gap between the sexes seems to be shrinking all the time. I never could figure out why females played at a lower level than males (in general) and I'm happy to see the gap shrinking. The Chinese are becoming a ridiculous force, and I'm not sure I'm as happy about that. It's obvious why though, when the game is taken more seriously there. As such, high level instruction is readily available for many kids that show real interest, and pro level instruction for kids that prove to have real potential. Here it is often a love learned in the early phase by the seat of the pants, at least mostly, even more true in the past. Shane definitely got a boost in that department and it really shows. This gal's break is stellar, and her safety play was excellent, sometimes almost genius, especially in the touch department. That virtually frozen dead center cue ball, almost perfectly locked up was undoubtedly the best shot of the match up to that point. The back to back successful banks makes me wonder how she'd do in a bank pool contest.

@@AngrierGorilla Han yu led the game until the last game; afterwards he suffered a psychological block and he was no longer able to produce a positive stroke. If you play (I am a first category, but it is not my main activity), you must know that at some level it is an exclusively mental matter. It is a psychological fact; technique has nothing to do with it. This is because Van Boening is unable to be a world champion, since he is psychologically weak, he does not have the necessary character. Just see how he reacts to the Mosconi Cup. He is an excellent player when he plays American tournaments, at home and in peace. But outside he can lose to anyone.
@AngrierGorilla
@AngrierGorilla 4 жыл бұрын
@@roccocicoria4888 actually Van Boening was one of the best players in the last 15 years in World pool. He won lots of important tournaments (many times US Open in every discipline, Masters, Mosconi Cup, Derby City, World Cup, 14.1 World Tournament and many others) and was twice runner up in 9-ball World Championship. There are very few player who have won more than SVB. About the match: in my opinion there is a great difference between these two players, Van Boening is clearly on another level. In a short format like this one he could have lost to Han Yu, but on a longer format there would be no match. Break shots, jump shots, shotmaking, position play... he is far superior.

In the 12th rack when Boening hung the 2 in the jaws in the corner, I don't know why Yu didn't play the cue ball off the rail first to work position to the 3. Instead she tried the long draw back to the 3 which required a perfect hit on the 2 to draw it straight back to the 3. She was hair off center which sent the cue ball to her left leaving a long difficult cut on the 3 in the corner which she missed. It was game over at that point.

It’s hard to control cue ball when the object ball near the pocket, she may need extension call to think about more if she has.
@b49730
@b49730 2 жыл бұрын
1. Too much traffic in the natural path of the cue ball if she goes rail first. 2. Maybe the 2 ball was more in the pocket than we can see on screen. 3. She hit the 2 ball too full, because she wanted to thin it and draw off the rail. I would’ve attempted what she did instead of going rail first. Better percentage of running out if she successfully hit the shot right. Also , going rail first with that traffic, she would more than likely hit another ball and tie something up.
