The sad fact is, if the YTMA were not open to global voting and it was just American, or even American and European voting, GG would not have even been in the running. You are wrong that Brad Pitt would not be famous if he went elsewhere in the world. American media is viewed world wide. That is a fact, and Brad Pitt is one of the faces of the American movies. If you told somebody in a foreign country to name an American actor that they know, there is a good change Brad Pit will come up. Just because some people may know that GG is from Korea, does not make them the representatives of South Korea, or its music. I can 100% guarantee if you took a poll of Americans and you asked what do they think of when you say South Korea, that they would not say GG. If you asked them directly about kpop, they would say Psy, because Gangnam Style is the only kpop song the American public is familiar with.
