oh god this brings back so many memories when i was raising my first baby cockatiels, although the first time hand feeding mine got a little messy. i greatly miss that little growl they did when they wanted to be fed

+Lisa T K yes this is a late reply but I have a baby tiel and I used to think the hand feeding job was so fun to watch and I wanted to try. Now I know that this ain't a fun job. It can be stressful because you don't want the babies to choke.

Hilda AYBAR my Dad raised a baby Cockatiel the year I was born. His name was tipper and he was the bestest friend I ever had :') I was born when he was just 3 months old. He died the day after my 16th birthday. It's like he was holding out to spend that last special day with me. We fell asleep that night cuddling on the couch. When I woke up, he was laying on my chest. He was gone. I miss him so much I think about him every day and I'm 30 years old. He was a talker. The one real sentance we ever got him to say was " I love you". RIP Tipper you were the best and sissy loves you and will never forget. 💖

Rebekah Alex aw, how sad 😢 I missed my cookie too ,he was my daughter’s best friend too, he used sing 🎶 and dance 💃 and he favorite words were I love ❤️ you, i would never forget Cookie,i have 2 cockatiels,but they are not like cookie,they don’t like to get out of the cage or touch.

i have bottlefed many litters of abandoned kittens, incubated chicks, etc and love taking care of baby animals (though I only have as a pet a parakeet and one chicken!) and would love to hand raise a baby cockatiel so it will bond with me deeply, but where would I get such a young bird?

tempurature of the food is critical, must be be 105 degrees (102 to 110), the water mixed with the food should be 120 degrees, mix and cooled down to 105 in the siringe, also the siringe should be put in a cup of water higher than 105 to keep it warm with a meat/oven thermometer in the cup of water to keep checking tempurature, this way you can take your time feeding and put seringe in the water between birds and while checking their crops, get analog thermometer. if not food spoils in crop

These cockatiels look very young for 4 weaks, they are suposed to be almost "grown up" at this time with a lot of feathers.

I have just got a baby cockatiel, looks about same age as these, but it is difficult to get him to eat in the same way as these in the video. I have the right food and everything exactly as the video, I am afriad he might not eat enough and die, but I don't like the idea of force feeding him. He is otherwise happy and alert. Any advise would be appreciated.

@djbigsoft he is good at it but you have to be carefull because the get air bubbles and you have to make them burp it up till you can feed them again you also have to watch there crop its under there head when it becomes round and it looks full dont give them more wait till it looks empty then feed them ever 6 to 9 hours not only because they hiss no every 6 to 9 hours as told by the doctor

@Imstunnin910 let the parents feed the babies for two weeks then take them out and hand feed them.. Search the net look for hand feeding schedule's. First week hand feeding happens every 4-5 hours

That video was so awesome to watch! How many mls per bird did you feed them each? I was told that if you overfil the crops (stomachs) of the chicks, it would die. Also the food has to be a little bit warm, otherwise the chicks crops would become 'cropbound' and that can cause problems... Thankyou for letting us watch that! :)
