►WHAT IS SAKUGA? // WHAT IS A SAKUGA MAD
Sakuga (作画) literally means drawing in Japanese. But Sakuga also means "artistically impressive animation".
MAD stands for Music Anime Douga (Douga means video in Japanese). It's the same as an AMV. Sakuga MADs are compilations of great animation made to collect, celebrate and appreciate the work of animators.

The problem is, Spike is a dodge and strike fighter, of a lighter weight. Ed's dad was basically a wall. @@ThatCrazyKid0007 actually you’d be wrong on that. While regular animation is done by a team, sakuga specifically tends to be a one or two man job for all mainline animation. The most Impressive part of Spikes fight was that the guy he was fighting was high on red eye and it made his reflexes so fast that a bullet was less than 6 inches from his face and he was still able to dodge it. Yet Spike could Punch him in the face 10 out of 10 times still. Just shows how Superhuman Spike really is. Most Anime protagonists are insane though and make that look silly. Bebop will always be one of my favorites though.

this is what i love about anime so much, you cannot replicate that fast paced combat and those moves in real life (or filmed movies to be exact) and cartoons either don't focus on fighting as much as the story or they are trying to appeal to a younger audience. the closest thing to anime i've seen in regular cartoons is ATLA which is an amazing cartoon btw. anime is that middle ground between cartoon and action movies (as well as mature content *ahem*) that merges that smooth movement of animation and the fast paced action scenes in filmed movies and amplifying it using the power of animation

Elijah Paulk No problem dude but i have listed animators who are linked to Naruto mostly so maybe i need to give you new names lol since you have seen it. Now first i am going to give you some popular names and you can try them for fun. Norio Matsumoto (already mentioned), Shinya Ohira, Shinji hashimoto, Hiroyuki Okiura, Mitsuo Iso, Osamu tanabe, Takeshi Honda, Hidetsugu Ito, Masashi Ando (not to be confused with Masahiro Ando), Toshiyuki Inuoe, Akihiko Yamashita, Hideaki Anno, Shingo Yamashita (although young compared to above mentioned legends but still talents nonetheless) etc. Moreover check Animator expo. Shows like Tetsuwan Birdy Decide, Canaan, Yozakura quartet Ova and tv series, maybe Noein should be good for action i suppose.

As much as I bloody love this compilation, it really drives the feeling that there's two types of fight animation. There's the stuff that is driven by the characters, where their styles are put front and center and the action is built on very specific choreography, and then the sakuga stuff that's driven by the action itself and uses a weirdly similar set of attacks and action beats. Feels like shows like Naruto, FMA and a few of the ones I'm not familiar with all bleed together and doesn't really tell me anything about how the characters fight, whereas stuff like Bebop, Blade Runner and Boy and the Beast tells you exactly who these people are by their choreography.

We have the anime that have the fighters use their brain in battle, like HxH and JJBA. Those are without a doubt great anime, and their action always manages to surprise me. We also have the crazy nuclear galactic level surreal anime, like DBZ and One Punch Man. But then we have the anime that just has action, nothing less and nothing more. Just pure, simple fighting with nothing extra in it.
