Wow!...i would make an amazing apprentice to this guy...i thought i had a engineering mind...man...he is a beast! He would bring to life my many concepts that i have not had the space or shop to explore for years and because he has endless experience in hands on and training and fine-tuning the engineering talent..it looks like any of my ideas i would be a beginner...months to get done by the time i am done researching...he will see it and finish it in a week! 😂😂 a guy like this is a dream to be around with people like me...just mind blowing and refreshing to watch...wow!!!

Super stout and beefy! A router table build is in my future and I really like this design. Sadly, I just got rid of the old shocks from my truck. They were totally shot. But the metal scrap yard has plenty of old ones laying around. :)

Very nice, clean build. I was confused by the title. I was wondering how a router was going to work as a milling machine. Was stuck on metal vs wood. Technically it is a wood "milling machine". Love the lift.

This is one of the best diy router lift ideas I've seen, without any expensive parts, and very well made. Well done! I was looking for some old shock-based router lift ideas and found this. I didn't know until a few minutes that it was going to be a router lift. If you mentioned it in the title ("router lift") you might help more people who are really interesting in building one find it and get more views.
@Pauken11

Neat idea. One thing I noticed at the end is that it looked like maybe you let the router bit bottom out in the collet. If so, that’s not a good practice because a bottomed-out router bit can loose in use. It’s better to lift it up a bit so it’s not touching bottom for a better hold and safer operation.

Most impressive using struts like that as well as your raising/lowering screw! Well Thought OUT! The Only thing I might ad is a bearing for the Lift screw at the top. This one made me subscribe! Reuse, Repurpose, Recycle....most excellent. Thanks for the great ideas you bring forth.

@court2379
@court2379 3 жыл бұрын
@@peterrivney552 First find me a table under $90. Second a table under $100 isn't slightly as substantial as this one. Third getting the setup that allows you to adjust the cutter depth from the top side instead of under the table are much more expensive. Around $200-300.

Amazing idea my friend! You are very talented and have an eye for making "nothing" into "something"! Just please PLEASE be very careful when grinding and or cutting around gas charged shock absorbers, those things can and will explode! Im sure you are aware of the dangers they pose as you were constantly cooling them with water, the danger is still there. I just dont want this to be the last HandCraft video. Once again great job and very impressive!

Nicely done interesting use of different materials from different trades 😁 Iv a collection of various sized chrome plated rods iv cut from various shocks iv scraped over the years these are Extremely Useful for lathe projects where the I.D. can be bored to suit the chrome rod in its natural state as it’s far better finished and corrosion resistant than can be achieved in the home metal shop. Your use of the whole shock was very good I liked it and will keep the idea up my sleeve going forward 👍🏻
