Very interesting Steph and also helpful. You have given me a lot to think about. One thing though, I would not be without my Chanel classic flap (lambskin). It is indispensable for me when I'm travelling about but boy am I happy that I bought it when I did! It is now double the price and I could not justify spending that much on a bag no matter how fabulous it might be!

Great video, thank you. But I find it hard to be reasonable when it comes to bags, I could not pick one only for the purpose. These bags are all so iconic ond once you fall in love you can’t get it out of your mind. You can buy the more reasonable alternative but you are still going to want the original. So it is a bit like comparing apples and pears 😅

I'm so tickled that you mentioned Poléne- I just LOVE that brand! At this point I have narrowed my collection to only brands that I love- so for me, that means Loewe, Bottega, & Poléne! (And my Poléne bags are every bit as luxe as the other two brands!) 😁

Thanks for your ideas on alternatives. I can’t swap the LV NF for a leather tote as the canvas is lighter weight and more durable. That’s the draw for me to LV because I prefer not to carry heavy bags or worry about leather getting scuffed.

Isn't LV a bit of a cult? I'm falling out from the believer status and see it as a colossal marketing tool, and they churn out so many bags not many are truly great design. The prices are eyewatering for what you get.

Thanks for all the insight Steph! I agree that there are so many bags that we many have and love but for one reason or another they are not the most practical or easiest to use. So if you’re not in love with a very particular bag, am alternative may be better. The more I love a bag, the more impractical features I will put up with haha. My most favorite bags are my prettiest and sometimes most delicate bags because I adore lambskin. My only rule is that it must fit my phone.

I’ve been searching for the mini BA and it’s definitely not half the price of an old medium Boy bag here. Both go around $5k and I can’t seem to find one in amazing shape currently 😢. This will need to stay on the wishlist for now. If they ever bring the BA’s to the boutiques again I may have to make a trip a bigger city that I can purchase one at.

I love the Capucines bag. The mini is a waste for me it can’t hold a cell phone. I bought the bb it’s perfect for me. The lock me bag is a gorgeous alternative.

I'd rather buy coach for tote bag than LV never full. For LV capucines alternative, i think strathberry will be the best option as their quality is also high but much cheaper, the bag is also very light yet elegant

I think it’s important to remember that these are personal feelings about a bag. Take advice as the person your listening to has the ability to give you personal perspective that you perhaps would not have otherwise. Is it heavy? Can you get all of your belongings in? Is it leather? Lots of info that you are not going to get on your own and as always stated get what YOU love, I am sure these videos are not the end all be all but helpful information that you can use as a consumer to make a education decision. I appreciate Steph’s opinion ( as well as others) and set that against my own esthetic and make an informed decision based on multiple pieces of information. This is like having a chat with your besties … xoxoxo

It took me nearly two years to find black Trendy CC (I even wrote to you about it when I was in London), so an alternative is a no no for me 🤣 I even bought another Trendy in bright gray. Same about Pochette Metis. It took me a lot of time to find it and this is my most favorite bag for daily use. I bought a second one in black and white, and even my hubby said it is a beautiful bag 🤣 I also bought the Mini Lockme ever because of you 😊 I wanted it in pink but they don't have it in stock, so I bought the pink and white version in Harrods. And I want the business affinity, but I never see this bag in London stores 😢 The Oxford bag looks so good too, but my next bag is going to be the royalty bag - Launer's Traviata. Such a beautiful bag! 🥰

I do think the trendy is one of the most classic / fabulous looking bags! You did :D I have no plans to get rid of mine, I am just finding the Celine 16 more useful with the bigger compartments. How are you getting on with your LockMe bag? I've never owned any Launer but from what I've seen in store the quality looks great so keep me updated on that one

I do like the celine small or mini bag better than the Chanel. I like the leather Woody Chloe Tote more than the common Neverfull. The Prada Tote is my favourite.

That GO14 LV caramel bag is really ugly I have to say. They're complicating it with all the puffiness. It is practical compared to the overthought Capucine. A friend has the Capucine and I've never been impressed. It's just unmanageable. There is no need for liners in that accordion Trendi bag. The only reasons for liners is to keep the shape, or protect and it's got quite enough shape and strength with so many layers, also you can protect the lining by using a pen case and that's the most damage you will do. Try ditching the liners on this bag and you'll enjoy it more. The Alexander McQueen is truly ugly! The Prada is far more classic and versatile. All JIMO.

I do not like the Cappucine either, to me it's over-engineered on aesthetics and fails the practical exam. In time, people will wonder what they saw in these bags, they're hardly timeless.

@@deborahcurtis1385 fantastic description. I also totally agree on the capucine. I have it also but in crocodile ( it was the first one they designed ) and it’s very very heavy. Although extraordinary craftsmanship (far better )than Hermes bags I rarely take it out. Weirdly when I do I have always many people especially in Harrods complimenting it.

I think you’re missing the point I made at the start - this is from a practicality point of view. Bags I think are easier to use. Like anything in life, there will likely be beautiful pieces we want but they won’t be perfect. I’m sharing my insight

I like the idea of adding a strap to the YSL Envelope Bag but the pouch is only 1.1 inches deep versus the shoulder bag being 2.3 inches deep. That makes it really narrow and difficult to use as an every day bag.

yes you're right the pouch is alot thinner so that would need to be considered.

The larger YSL woc has a central divider which really reduces the thickness of items you can fit in. I have both and I would say that it is comparable with the pouch. I bought mine before the pouches came out. If doing over I would get the pouch as it gives much more bang for buck.

I agree i got the LV neverfull the same one as it’s but it’s just a canvas bag .. not worth the thousands of dollars .. I like muted luxury now I think
