Roxy’s Journal of Stitchery Volume 5 - Prompt 5
I made a custom sized box out of cardboard and covered it in fabric. The lid is slow stitched with a landscape scene.
I made this box to hold my little stitched landscape pictures. They fit perfectly inside!
I love stitching fabric pictures. This is my favourite way to spend my free time.
I usually make fabric books with my stitched art but when I saw the prompt I decided to give it a try. I’m really happy with the way it turned out!
I have a few videos showing how to make a fabric book using different methods. Here’s my playlist on fabric book assembly • Fabric Book Assembly

I hope you all enjoy this video where I assemble a box out of cardboard and fabric. I then slow stitched a landscape design on the lid because I made this box to hold my little stitched landscape pictures from past videos. Normally I put my pictures in fabric books but I was inspired to make this box from the latest #Roxysjournalofstitchery prompt.

I just love your videos. I wish I knew where you got all your little scraps because those are just so perfect for the landscapes and all I have is quilting cotton. This one is so cute. I’m gonna have to try it. I think one of these days thank you so much.

Thank you! You can buy scrap packs or fabric squares online. Also thrift clothing/ fabric items and cut them up. I have also found pieces of fabric and a jelly roll type thing at the vintage market and I have a lot of fabric from when I used to make cloth dolls. But if you don’t have access to any of those, just rip pieces off of whatever fabric you do have. And whenever you trim those edges, keep the scraps for something else. ☺️

Not in bulk, just small packs from Etsy or other online sources. I also cut up clothing and fabric items from the thrift store and buy small cuts of fabric from the fabric store. Ask how small they can cut for you. Also check out the vintage markets.

So interesting that I literally just repaired a box made exactly like the one you made. It was an older woman I met and she had it from a friend that made it for her over 50 years ago!!!! The edges, and where the lid was attached, needed to be re-sewn (it was used as a sewing box). I find it so amazing how these beautiful, handmade works of art are still handed down generation by generation. I wonder who will be repairing yours in 50 years in order to get more life out of it? ❤🪡
