Sour, Juicy , Sweet and Chewy
Handmade Starburst Candy
Ingredients :
1 tbsp gelatin powder dissolves in
1 tbsp hot water
½ tsp gum arabic dissolves in
1 tbsp water
Combine
50 g butter
1 tbsp powder sugar
Combine
¼ tsp citric acid
1.5 ml lemon oil ( flavouring )
For another flavor
Combine
¼ tsp citric acid
1.5 ml orange oil
Combine
½ cup granulated sugar
½ cup light corn syrup
¼ cup Water
Food colouring depending on the food flavouring of your choice.

Thanks I needed this recipe for reasons of war. There is a child who demanded I buy him Starburst because I made cupcakes, brownies and cookies for his class. So he will get home made Starburst... because I'm petty.

Could you possibly make a keto version? I’ve literally been all over the internet with no luck. That video would go viral if someone could make a starburst or hi-chew keto recipe! There is none available!

sugar is unfortunately absolutely required for taffy of any sort. This makes it impossible to make keto. =( (chef ting, sous chef 25 years)

In my experience, oils like the ones used in this video give the best results flavor wise. I’ve used strawberry extract that I had on hand and it WORKED but it just wasn’t the same

Gum arabic is used as a stabiliser, emulsifying agent, and thickening agent.

The ingredient list in the video says 2tbsp gelatin but only one is used in the video. Was it just a typo? At the same time, the video says 1tsp gum arabic but the description says 1/2tsp?? Just trying to figure out where I went wrong that my candy turned too hard to chew
