The leading figure behind Italy joining the entente was a prime minister they had, he was anti-Austrian pretty much. Italy had factions each wanting to be on either side, but many wanted neutrality to keep trading like the Dutch or Spain did.

Yeah the ai peace deals suck. İn general peace deals suck. Oh i won a war now ur entire nation is mine! Like in normal wars its more like: After countless deaths and unimaginable suffering i am so happy to recieve reperations and a few bit of colonies! ( tbh this reperation stuff is alr in the game why not make it make more sense ). I always want to roleplay in the game by taking a few states creating indipendent countries and also getting repeations and ships ( they are still indipendent ). But that just feels bad to do since you know why roleplay and act like the war is a real war while you can just annex the whole thing. Ruins the game for me tbh. Its meant to be a realistic war game. Was Germany a full puppet after WW1? It took 2 WORLD WARS for them to be puppets. And they still got indipendence. Thats realistic. Sad but true. Unless you are an empire with the idea to unite a race annexing everything is not realistic at all. The game lacks in peace conferences. Why not make the reperation/demilitarization things more useful than Annex All? Just WHY

Yeah but u should get a few mods that help ur peace not turn to ash. Plus u cant use some mods. Also u cant play till later dates. U cant continue after a while. Just dont get hoi4. The dlcs are costly and u could probably buy a new PC with that money if you save enough.

There was actually a massive debate in parliament, with a significant part argueing against war with Germany, the majority infact. until the invasion of Belgim was used as an excuse for the king and cabinet to by-pass parliament (citing old treaties over Belgian neutrality). Russia was also seen as a big threat, and the British did not want a french dominated Europe either (infact there was a massive fear of France controlling antwerp in particular). They didn't just have a rivalry with Germany. And germany was Britian's biggest European trading partner. Furthermore the British had told the french in 1912 that they were uncompromising on Belgium neutrality even if the french were the invaders. Implieing that atleast in 1912 the British would have gone to war with France over Belgium. If Germany had not invaded Belgium then Britian would likely remain neutral, atleast intially (depending on how long the war go's and how it goes would depend on who they join), parliament and general civilian attitudes was against getting involved. In such a scenario the germans would have had to have a plan of defending against France and trying to knotch out Russia before they fully mobilize. Which means Germany probably doesn't even declare war on France and also has more fortifications on the french border. And France is the one haveing to declarewar to support Russia. We know from french plans that they intended to delay this as long as possible in order to try and help paint the germans as agresssors. This means they Likely don't even declare war in the first month or 2 and only do so when it's clear the germans are taking a defensive stance with them and are pumling Russia (for the sake of the scenario we'll say the Russians are convinced not to take any mild peace deals offered by the germans and the french declare war) and the french try and invade through Lorraine at first, but this should quickly bog down due to German defences and the narrow front, at most ehy get to the rhine, but it's likely they are bogged down before that. Italy would have to declare war on France due to treaty (they got around that in the OTL due to Germany being the owns declaring war on France) and probably would not try and weasel out of it as britian is neutral (the italians had territorial claims on both sides, and it was fear of the British navy that tipped the scales OTL) but this probably doesn't go any better than the italian attack on Austria. The stalemate continues on the french borders, if Germany continues to focus down Russia then the french might act in desperation and invade Belgium to get to Germany (we know they had plans to do so, but wanted to try and get Germany to do it first, so would only do so after dirrect attacks failed and Germany does not do so for long periods) desperation to avoid Russian separate peace. Whether britian joins against France at this point is also unlikely (although not impossible) as the Franco-russian side is clealry at the disadvantage and the british would be unlikely to intervene on the side of the dominant forces, they are unlikely to side against the central powers either, especially if the germans use them as neutral mediators or spectators in their peace offerings to Russia (which OTL were all mild even at the begining of 1917 and so would likely stay mild) and thus would not see Germany as 2nd napoleon but as 2nd Franco-prussian war, combined with germany not starting the western front. The us and uk would lilely stay neutral the whole war and the central powers would likely win in the end. Although probably closer to the orginal mild peace deals the germans planned (as the germans are not pushed to starvation by blockades). The Russians probably agree to mild peace after the french Belgium gambit fails, and the french then end the war with their own negotiation shortly afterwoulds (probably after the germans have their own offensive in the west)
