This is version 12.4.1, software 2024.15.5 in a Tesla Model Y with HW4. Here is the uncut video: • 12.4 uncut drive . I ended up going 22 miles with 2 disengagements and 1 intervention, but the 1 intervention was on the highway, so not really V12, but I'm putting it in the chart which I'll upload to X x.com/DirtyTesLa/status/17995...

Thanks for being so quick! My vote is to not count hands on the wheel as an intervention. To me, that's more of an imperfection with the cabin camera and driver attentiveness monitoring, not an issue of FSD capabilities. It will be a non-issue if/when FSD reaches level 4/5. Just my two cents. 🤓

I think “hand on the wheel” should be its own category on your charts now, you are not disagreeing with a decision car made for the “driving” action, and figuring out the reason for it is much harder than an actual intervention.

I assume you already know FSD accepts voice for your destination. Normally you don't have to even say "drive to" or "navigate to". Typically just say a destination and FSD will automatically start routing. If you just say McDonalds without a street or town FSD will display a list of area McDonalds with the closet one to you at the top of the list. Works pretty well. I've never actually tried saying take me to the nearest McDonalds. I'll have to try that.

@gvmd-jr8bs Ай бұрын
I agree with the others who believe that you should not count as an intervention those times when you’re forced to put your hands on the wheel. That would really obscure how FSD is performing its job of guiding and controlling the movement of the car. What would be useful is counting the number of times that attention monitoring gives you a strike when it shouldn’t (like when it gave you a strike not far from your house at the beginning of this video). That was very troubling because you said that you were watching the road when it did that. False positives for lack of attention could make FSD difficult or very frustrating to use. I’ve had a similar problem ever since v12.3.1 where my car now interprets many route markers (e.g., Route 15) as speed limit signs. FSD will be doing 60 and suddenly drops its speed. When I look down, I can see that the car thinks the posted limit is 15mph because I’ve passed a route marker on highway 15. This has almost gotten me rear ended more than once - to the point where I no longer use FSD on route 15 or route 40. Interestingly, the root of the problem does not appear to be FSD itself. Even when I’m not using FSD, I can see the car’s speed limit display react to route number signs. Of course, if I’m not using FSD at the time, the car doesn’t slow. This problem has made FSD unusable on some roads. My service center tells me that Tesla is aware of the problem. I wish they’d give it some priority.

What is your basic speed setting? I have mine at 3% above. If you set to posted speed, does your car still exceed the limit? I am not satisfied with the natural driver setting, or whatever it's called, since the speed ranges are too wide for me. I have also noted that the car posts the speed limit based on the signage, but the FSD continues its speed when it should be slowing down. (12.3).

Im sure Tesla will make Automax better in the future. Traffic sign recognition doesn’t work great sometimes, there are certain roads that are 35-mph and it thinks its 50-mph. I have a 19 Model 3 and im really impressed that a car this old can run such advanced software. Clearly they were thinking ahead. It had a interior camera that did nothing for years, now i can pull up live video of my interior on the Tesla app, but it also is now used for driving monitoring.

I did 2 test drives so far with 12.4.1 and one thing that you did not encounter is "Truck speed limit" signs. As I was traveling on a 55 mph main road at ~ 57 mph, there was a long steep hill on my route. The car read the "Truck speed limit" sign which was 35 mph and slowed to 35 mph. I had to disengage & reengage FSD but even then it would not go 55. As a last resort I had to drive manually until the car saw a "normal" speed limit sign at which time I reengaged FSD and everything functioned normally.

Can't wait to get my FSD upgrade to 12.4.1. I wear eye glasses while driving that are clear and not too thick. I wonder at what point the system will get mad about those glasses that change to a slight tint or extra blind person thickness like my dad has. Looking forward to all of the 12.4.1 videos. Already saw Omars' video early this morning. Great content.

I like the larger green turn signal arrows. I often couldn't differentiate the smaller ones.
@Nochannel00
@Nochannel00 26 күн бұрын
Yes, even with 20/14 vision, the old UI rendered both turn signals in a small region at the top of the screen. The alternating colors made them even harder to distinguish at a glance. That was annoying given the frequent lane issues. Ideally they should be larger (or more “pointy” if legally allowed) and with clear horizontal separation on the screen. Or render a subtle vertical bar in the middle whenever the signals are active. That’d made it 100% clear at a glance if the signal were on the right or left of the bar-perhaps even with peripheral vision
@eugeniustheodidactus8890
@eugeniustheodidactus8890 26 күн бұрын
@@Nochannel00 Another change is necessary: The right and left blind spot camera views shouldn't occupy the exact same spot on the UI. If you mistakenly use the wrong signal, you will have the wrong camera view.

The autopilot expanded visual is the default view, when you put the car in FSD. If you turn it off it will just be traditional view from the start and you have to expand it yourself manually.

Some people take the TSLA SFD for granted, for example... but Waymo can do this already and now so what? Failing to realise this is 'unlimited' not geo fenced, its stuff of Science Fiction, pure AI, freaking BONKERS! I never thought I'd see something like this in my life time. Go TSLA!

@@Geromino555 Nobody cares how Mercedes self driving works, or does not work. The topic at hand is Tesla FSD: Elon promised years ago that it would be Level 5. Today, it is a simple minded Level 2 assistant that makes frequent mistakes. Nobody wants to *supervise* a buggy beta FSD software .

@@DerekDavis213 I used the Mercedes FSD as a comparison b/c that is supposed to be a superior system according to the FUD machine and how long have they been at it? Nobody else on the planet can do what the TSLA FSD can do, credit where it's due. As for the timeframe, 8th August! And it will continue to evolve thereafter as part of the AI PDCA cycle. @@Geromino555 _Nobody else on the planet can do what the TSLA FSD can do_ FSD is maybe 97 percent capable. Very impressive indeed. But that is still *not* *good* *enough* . A human driver is 99.99 percent capable. If FSD is ever going to reach Level 5 Full Autonomy it has a long way to go.

The Expanded Visual function only forces AP into full screen mode until you either manually pull it back over, park, or go into reverse (but will return if going back to drive). I got this function with my 12.3.1 on my 2018 M3 (upgraded from 2.5 to 3.0 computer)

Looks like it hesitated that tiny bit at the green light for the left turn because a car was coming up on the left pretty fast before showing that it was going to make a right. I didn't see if that car was signaling or if Ego saw a signal at the last moment but it was being cautious in case that car was just going to go straight and run its red light.
