WindUp Watch Fair brings the best in microbrand and affordable watchmaking to New York City. There were many misses at the fair, but we found the top hits among the hundreds of watches on view.
We went hands-on with watches from brands like Baltic, Furlan Marri, Christopher Ward, Bulova, Citizen, Benrus, G-SHOCK, and more. Our main question: Which of these watches do we actually want to buy?

I own a few of the brands and model shown (Xeric, Yema, Furlan Marri, Baltic..) but the BelCanto definitely takes the crown: "green" dial LE... A shame this particular model didn't get any press, because on top of being a BelCanto, that dial is just the funkiest I have ever seen and that is saying something!

Im very much looking forward to Yema's new inhouse line of movements. I wont be a early supporter tho, have had too many iffy experiences with Yema.

Agree with all your picks. Was Seiko, Fortis and Oris at Wind-Up? Would be good brands to cover at the next show.

nivada grenchen displaid their upcoming 35mm Antarctic. That is a beautiful watch. It's a dressier looking watch but I hope it'll have good water resistance to make it an easy to wear every day sports watch especially on the beads of rice bracelet. And the benrus 36mm compressor diver was another highlight for me. And finally it was nice to see and hold a fears watch. They feel and look so nice. The cushion shape. White dial. The story behind the brand. Overall great watches that if I had the money I would like to buy. Looking forward to next year

I’m probably getting the bel canto. But also, if you stopped by the furlan marri desk, they might’ve shown you something with a green dial and green leather strap with a little special symbol? That might be coming out in December. That’s all I’m saying 😉That one I would definitely get.

I ordered a Bel Canto as soon as they became available in colors, i got the Nero, originally it was supposed to be delivered about now, but it has been delayed till early next year 😢 , I kind of just have to forget it for now, it’ll be a nice surprise when it’s finally ready

I’m leaning towards Chris Ward and a new company run by a serving British Soldier, Stirling Watches. Small but efficient and very tool watchy. Brilliant video guys and totally agree with the comment about the Apple Watch. It’s not a watch and there are far cheaper methods of monitoring your health!

I think you're a bit hard on homage watches, but that said, I don't own one at present. Never say never tho. Does anyone really sport their 10k++ Rolly when diving, except maybe the filthy rich. I know I wouldn't.

1:26 No you won't, because you can't buy Rolex at an AD. So I'm not sure how you're going to "just buy the original". Hence what all these microbrands are doing.
