What a patient Airedale boy! I've had three Airedale girls and just let them in puppy cuts. Although they had papers, I did not show or breed them. They were our child substitutes and indeed part of the family.

Great vid! I have a Welsh Terrier with a coat that I have been doing some handstripping or at least trying. It's hot and I have been trying to shorten it with a medium stripping comb to keep him cool. I get very little hair out and his coat is rich shiny and black along the back and sides. Legs and head are wiry and dull. I trimmed him with scissors very lightly when he was 4 months old. I also used electric clippers for his ears and private parts. Will I ever be able to strip him properly?

What is the alternative coat style you say at the beginning, oblong? How do I know the difference? I’m trying to learn how to hand strip my Airedale pet. I’ve had a few lessons from professionals but really struggling with hide manipulation in awkward areas, controlling him, and pulling evenly. His top line does look wavy like the one in this video. What tools do you recommend for grooming your airedale?

i have four months wire fox terrier...when should i do the first hand stripping or when will be a good time?

I have a 10 month old Airedale and I want to try stripping her coat as my family has always had Airedales that we have shown and I like the look. I haven't ever had her clipped and I brush her 3-4 times a week with a Bass medium oval wire and boar brush. My questions are as follows: (1) her coat is very long at this point, if I strip her will she be balled or will her regular brushing make it possible that she has the different lengths of wire hair required to leave a coat behind. Her coat pulls out very easily which makes me think she has a very healthy fully functioning wire coat at this point, it's just too long; (2) Once she has been stripped does she require any brushing or should I just do weekly rolling to maintain healthy skin and coat; (3) If stripping her will leave her more or less balled, how long will it take for her to grow back enough fur to be protected from getting a sunburn since we run outside every other day for a few miles; (4) If I give up on doing the stripping on my own, what is a reasonable price to have a groomer do the work? Great videos! Most others really lack detail and instruction. Thank you in advance for any response!
