Ladywood Green Watch responded to a house fire in Handsworth, the fire, which was mostly extinguished by passers-by, was started by faulty electrics in the television and spread to closely packed furniture and the window blinds. The bedroom sustained 95% smoke damage.
The property, which is a home to twelve people, had no smoke alarms fitted and the fire was only noticed out of chance by the occupier. West Midlands Fire Service installed two smoke alarms in the ground and first floor hallways after the fire.
