I show the 24 projects I worked on during my May-nia activity in the month of May.
May-nia Projects
1. Primavera in Citta, by Crocette a gogo. 1 over 2 on 46ct Natural linen. Called for DMC
2. R-Kade by Long Dog Samplers. 1 over 2 on 40ct Conifer linen by Picture This Plus. Two colors of Silks4U silks (PR114).
3. Mystery Marquoir by Isabelle Haccourt Vatier. 1 over 2 on 46ct Antique White linen. Glorianna "In The Navy" and Dinky Dyes "Ocean Blue" and a DMC tan and a kreinik metallic white.
4. Patchwork Sampler by Jan Houtman. 1 over 2 on 46ct Antique White linen. Various silks from my stash.
5. Faery Square by Carolyn Manning Designs. 1 over 2 on 46ct "Frost" by BeStitchMe. DMC floss, I changed about half of the colors.
6. Stitching Shelf by Heaven and Earth Designs. Artwork by Aimee Stewart. 1 over 1 on 25ct white lugana, full cross. Called for DMC.
7. Seaside Tiny Town by Heart in Hand. 1 over 2 on 46 ct Natural, called for flosses, a few subbed from my collection.
8. Churchyard Christmas by Praiseworthy Stitches. 2 over 2 on 32ct "Mirage" by Picture This Plus. Called for flosses.
9. Sleeping Princess by Mirabilia. 2 over 2 on 32 ct Water Lily. Called for DMC.
10. Whitman Tin by Ellen Chester. Special pattern charted by Ellen for the Swan Sampler Guild in 2001. 1 over 1 on 32ct linen. silks from my collection.
11. Summer Fruit, Mill Hill Buttons & Beads Kit.
12. Christmas Village Ornaments by Dimensions, kit floss on 36ct cream linen, 2 over 2.
13. Serenity Harbor by By The Bay Needleart. 1 over 2 on 40ct Vintage Lentil by Lakeside Linens. Called for DMC except I changed all the large blocks of color to a similar overdyed color of either cotton or silk. Water colors are Dinky Dyes "Gum Leaves" and Dinky Dyes "Ocean Pines".
14. Thankful Bag by Shepherd's Bush. Called for perle cotton on an "it's Sew Emma" bag.
15. Stitching Summer by Twin Peak Primitives. 1 over 2 on 46ct "Flan" by Be Stitch Me. Called for DMC.
16. Paint Box by Betsy Morgan. Part of her Toy Box Etui collection.
17. Keeping Watch by Blackberry Lane Designs. 1 over 1 on 25 ct potato evenweave.
18. Home Is Where My Stitching Is by The Primitive Hare. 1 over 2 on 36ct Agave linen. Using Sulky 12wt thread and Blanc DMC Floche.
19. Black Vintage Sampler by Owl Forest Embroidery. 1 over 1 on 20ct opalescent white aida. 12wt Sulky thread in black (1005).
20. Baby Jesus, Mill Hill Kit.
21. A-B-C by Prairie Schooler. 1 over 1 on 28ct Cream Linen. Called for DMC except I changed the dark red to a slightly lighter red (918).
22. Peppermint Candy by Blackberry Lane Designs. 2 over 2 on 32ct Gingerbread linen by Picture this Plus. Called for floss.
23. Village Canal, Dimensions Kit. 2 over 2 on 32ct "Blue Dreams" by Fabric Flair. Kit floss.
24. Sweet Summertime by Counting Puddles. 2 over 2 on 32ct white evenweave, called for DMC.

I marvel at your beautiful color sense on the one where you are using left over silks, starting with the lavenders and blues and changing to different colors as you go.

Happy Retirement! 👏🏻 I really enjoyed seeing your WIPS and new starts this morning! It would be hard to choose a favourite as so many are wonderful! But I have always liked the Black Vintage Sampler and the Serenity Harbour. The tiny Seaside Town is really sweet! Have a great Stitchy week ahead! Cheers! 🧑🏻‍🦰🇨🇦🌺

Oh Brenda - thanks for the idea of 25ct lugana for the Blackberry decorations becasue I had to put the shepherds in time out trying 1 over 1 tent on 40 ct :/ love your Maynia so much - happy retirement :)

Do you have a suggestion for a tutorial/or flosstube that addresses the "parking" of threads, like you have done on your May 6th "Stitching Shelf" piece? Would love to learn tips on successfully executing full coverage pieces like this. Thanks so much!

Thank You!! I am still figuring out what my stitching schedule will be now that I am retired. But in general, it will be similar to what I have done for the last few years. You can see an example of that in video #30.

First of all, congratulations on your retirement! I am there too as of the first of June! House and Garden focus for the next couple of months, but I'm hoping to get plenty of stitching done as well. I love your Maynia projects. Between that last still life and the Mill Hill Fruit, you have summer's bounty covered.

Thank You Mary! I will try and explain it a little better in my next video :) The "gum leaves" Dinky Dyes thread varies quite a bit from light to dark. So I just stitched in kind of wavy strips, crossing each x as I went.

For your Village Canal project, I love the fabric you are using and I would like to use it for the same project, but when I looked up blue dreams on fabric flair it was not there. Could you be wrong about the dyer.

Do you stitch with 2 hands or do stab and poke stitching?

Hi Jeanette! I am a one handed stitcher and I do stab and poke stitching :) But I do keep my left hand on the back of my work to help guide my right hand and the needle a little bit.
