Hinterher ist man immer gescheiter. Mich freut es, dass du uns zeigst was alles passieren kann. Es kommen hier gewaltige Zugkräfte auf die Bruchleiste. Zum Glück ist sie auf der richtigen Seite gerissen und der Baum zur Seite gefallen. Wäre die Bruchleiste auf beiden Seiten gleichzeitig gerissen wäre der Baum möglicherweise über den Stock heruntergerasselt. Ich glaube, du hast gute Schutzengel und die braucht man auch bei der Waldarbeit.

Links die Bruchleiste zu dünn gehalten und rechte Seite das Gewicht der Äste und schon reist die Bruchleiste links zu früh, rechts führt die stärkere Bruchleiste den Baum und das Gewicht der Äste hangabwärts tun ihr übriges dazu. Every climber and tree man I know has at least one off day when they don't get their cuts right. We are all entitled to at least one of those days. Looks like this was yours. All in all though the tree came down no on was hurt and no damage done. I got 40 years experience behind me and I'd say that was not too bad a job.

Wow! Glück im Unglück.Er ist ja noch Schadenfrei gefallen. Fehler passieren. Trotzdem ein tollen Video! Ich hab jetzt vor ein paar Wochen meinen Brennholzschein gemacht. Der Ausbilder sagte, dass Wurzelanläufe abzuschneiden sind. Hab ich gemacht, ums zu üben und direkt einzuprägen, obwohl das Schwert lang genug war. Jetzt hab ich aber an allen 4 Seiten die Anläufe abgeschnitten. Gab mecker, war aber nicht schlimm. Er hatte ja nicht erwähnt, dass bei ausreichender Schwerlänge die Fällschnittseite nicht mit Kastig geschnitten wird. Nunja; kleiner Fehler von ihm, ich hab daraufhin auch einen gemacht, weil ich nach Anleitung gearbeitet habe. Es wurde keiner verletzt und der Baum graziös gefällt :D

Je sehr gutes Video....endlich mal jemand der die Reallität hier rein stellt wo nicht alles perfekt läuft. Respekt. Also ich denke der Fehler lag an der zu kleinen Fällkerbe und der Schnitt dann unter der Fällkerbe(weiss net wie des Fachmännisch heisst). Trotzdem wunderbar...NIEMAND kam zu SCHADEN. Fehler passieren aber die hauptsache ist, dass dir und niemand anderes etwas passiert ist. Trotzdem gutes video! ;-)

This is a refinement to my first comment. The two wedges should be stacked on top of each other. Alternate jacking with tapping the two wedges. When the tree starts to lean in the correct direction and the tear out begins cut only on the back of the tear out portion which will help in the falling process and leave the most amount of holding wood to keep the tree directed toward the fall line.

If u had sat your backcut alittle higher (maybe 5 cm higher on a tree like this) it can bent before snatching, what happens here in this video is you have your back cut in same level as the buttom of your front cut, when u do it this way the tree will snatch nearly in and instant when falling, (when the tree start to go down your "holding-wood" snatches alot faster) if u had sat the backcut higher the "holding-wood" would be able to bent, so the tree will be closer to the ground before it breaks, this give you more control. You have some mad skills (: But what were those final two cuts for? Seemed like they were the reason for the failure, no? At times, I'll make a small incision in the bark under both sides of the hinge to prevent a misdirection, but nowhere near that deep

Seems like the crown on the tree had too much weight on one side (the down slop side). I'm not the taking chances kind of guy. So that being said, i guess i would of climb up the tree to about half of it's height and i would of tied a rigging rope towards an other tree going up the slop ( + puting tension on the rope with a locking pulley ). But hey ... Shit happens !!! We all have our working styles. Take care man !

Heute ist mir auch ne Rück-, Seithänger Eiche abgehaun. Also Fehler können passieren und man lernt daraus.

Beim Arbeiten passieren mal Fehler Kleiner Tipp beim nächsten mal auf der linken seite mehr hängen lassen MFG der Forstprofi

Only Me! You don't wanna do it like that! Now I do not believe you wanted to do that, did you?

Looks like you needed a bigger hinge with the jack located a little more on the down hill side, (counter-clockwise) no wedge on the upper side, two wedges (eventually) on the lower side where they will provide lift and a pivot point that will direct the tree in the desired direction of fall. Make sure the tree is vertical or slightly past vertical,(leaning to the uphill side) and don't cut the upper side until the tree is actually leaning the way you want it to go. Cutting the upper side may or may not be required. Cutting on the upper side could possibly be needed when the tree starts it's tear out and that is the only part holding the tree from falling the way you want it to go. There were a lot of limbs on the lower side not to mention the correction you needed to make for natural lean of the tree. Those are my observations. Hope that helps to analyse your next challenge.

Ich denke mal, die beiden Schnitte am Schluss waren der Fehler. Vor Allem der linke. Dort hast du die Bruchleiste durchtrennt, denn die setzt sich ja nach oben und unten im Faserverlauf fort. Man sieht das sehr schön, als der Baum fiel, wie dieses linke Stück der Bruchleiste herausgezogen wird. Welche Funktion sollten diese Schnitte denn haben? Ich habe das noch nirgendwo gesehen.
