If you tell the woman who was assaulted by her guru that she was born into her circumstances for karmic reasons, you can't then tell her you aren't blaming her or saying it's her fault. *Of course* you're saying it's her fault. That's what karma is - blaming the victim. I regard it as a mindset we should be dispensing with at this stage of human development, but even if you believe it, to tell someone who's suffering they've done it to themselves is unhelpful at best. It would be better to refrain from attempts at explanation and simply to offer empathy.

You're focussed on the pragmatic, practical, and material outcomes. Try seeing beyond disasters and ascribing evil to individuals, instead see that there are harmful actions. Each person is capable of harmful actions, each person causes harm in one way or another. Does this then mean that each person is evil? No of course not. How much blame towards anyone can be placed? Blame it's self is part of a cycle that perpetuates evil actions. It creates further divisions, further separations, further shame, further hatetred, further vegence. Look the other direction. A victim of harmful actions no doubt suffers a great deal, and must have the necessary care and empathy to overcome those shocks. But if we look at the perpetrator. What causes them to be so? How much lack of love, neglect, or hardship in life causes them to be so callous? So then suffering and abuse is a cyclical, as are cycles of blame and shame. Karma isn't a method of ascribing blame. Not when viewed metaphysically, or when embedded in the material outcomes. It's an outside view of phenomena. We innour ego see the suffering in the world and cannot place it contextually, it evokes anger, and grief within us. But who suffers from this anger and grief? We do. And the outcomes of that anger and grief? Do they result in actions from us? Yes! And a release of those energies into actions, how they are chanelled then can create further negative outcomes. From the point of soul outside of time, these energy experiences take it further from oneness, and the ego loses vital powers and remains caught in the material view of life. Over many rebirths each soul has it's moments to wake up from these stuck points until a more awakened view occurs. Consider that an abuser in this life will likely suffer the fate of being harmed in the same way in another life. If that helps with your need to see blame and justice ascribed. But in that malice you then create further harm to your own soul, and likewise play a part in the cycles of blame and shame. It's not that right and wrong don't exist. They do in a dualistic sense. But to be caught up in them it clouds the mind in a sense of righteousness and of ego, the "I" that wants to say how everything should be and how it should work. But we simply do not know and cannot see what cause leads on to what over time. Consider that a doctor curing a deadly disease might go on to save the life of a brutal dicatator that might take the lives of millions out of cruelty. Or likewise a war mongerer facilitating the wars that kill millions might in their evil actions infact take the life of someone who would have destroyed the entire planet or created a disease which wipes out all life. Would you then wish this was not so? Suffering is difficult to observe, and hard to understand. It evokes so many emotions and further outcomes. And we simply do not know it's purpose. In an ideal golden age, we would be able to raise our awareness collectively so that each person has the means to wake up out of the cycles of suffering, out of their harmful actions, out of their wounds, and out of the need to ascribe blame and shame. The interconnectedness of phenomena is still part of the oneness of the universe. And it is very difficult for victims to find the context and healing that they need following the trauma they experience. And it is likewise difficult for perpetrators of harmful actions to gain context as to why they were so and to heal from the trauma they inflicted on others and their own soul. If one or the other cannot integrate these experiences and are left with confusions, anger, sorrow, or fear then these confusions and energies move with them when leaving the body in this life. Not out of the universe seeking blame, but so that each soul can finally heal and come to union with the oneness of soul. And no one says that anyone HAS to view life this way. It's each person's choice how they decide to understand suffering, trauma, harmful actions, and tragic outcomes. If righteousness, rage, and revenge become your means of seeking balance, then that avarice for justice becomes part of your experience. And this too is then something for you to be conscious of or unconcious of in your life. And where that avarice to see the wicked burn and the victim rescued takes you is where it takes you. But do ask yourself; What wickedness has each victim done in this life, what wickedness might they go on to do? Is the status of a victim then an excuse for any harmful actions they commit? Would you then have to mete out righteous justice upon a victim you once found justice for? Hooefully from this dialogue you might see the complexities involved with the questions you're posing and the frustrations you have on this issue. This is why compassion for all who suffer is essential, and why forgiveness for all who are lost is also essential. Only through understanding can forgiveness and compassion arise. In that way we can then see what actions to take in response to such things in order to prevent them from recurring. But whilst we are lost in our emotions, seeing all the trauma and drama of the world, the mind is clouded and will only create further turmoil. The heart has to feel the pain. But the mind has to see how to heal it. If the mind reacts viscerally from the pain of the heart, then it goes on to cause more violence and the heart closes down. To be a healer in the world is to keep the heart open in hell, and the mind open in heaven. If the heart closes off from the pain of others, the mind chooses blisfull ignorance, if the mind closes off from the connection to heaven, then it acts only from Hell. This is why the Buddha placed an emphasis on one's own conduct and one's own self-awarwness and prescribed the eightfold path as the means to overcoming suffering in the world: Conducive thoughts, Conducive speech, Conducive action, Conducive livelihood, Conducive Understanding, Conducive iIntention, Conducive Effort. The western translation of the eightfold path is usually written as "right view, right speech, right effort..." etc. However the word "right" in the western mind invokes the sense of justice. The aim of the Buddha was to help people see as clearly as possible what was needed in each moment in order to bring about the most healing or to not worsen a situation further. Hence the word "conducive" is more appropriate. Well wishes to yourself and all who are struggling through the confusions that suffering creates. May we all wake out of our trappings of shame and blame, trauma and drama when we are ready, and may we all find love and understanding on our journey towards oneness with life, the universe, and the divine. Namaste! 💚🙏

@@angryherbalgerbil Firstly, I have no intention of reading all of that. I got about a third of the way through. Secondly, kama *absolutely* is about blame. It represents the culmination of the human tendency to blame the victim. It is one of our oldest collective responses to suffering.
