Reminds me of why I tell kids, "if you ever need help, run to a biker!" looks like good times. I was a little surfer kid then, but 2 friends had biker neighbors, sure we took a lot of gruff from them but it was all good, mutual respect from them we eventually earned, they already had ours. . But the one friends neighbor, an ol lady had her man's chopper stored until he got out of prison, a rightious lime metalflake, John Harman girder forks, panhead of course. she'd let us in and we could sit on it. Loved it. I now, still surf, but own a panhead and 3 flatheads..... awesome and thank you for sharing

There's still a lot of smaller clubs around, the problem is most of them are support clubs for the larger clubs. The politics have gotten out of hand. I live in Texas and grew up in Southern California Ventura to be exact, I've been around a lot of Patches. When I was coming up late 70s early 80s in California it was okay to still belong to a RC or even an MC, now it seems like you have to take sides. I ride with a group of vets in Texas, we ride with respect to the larger clubs, and still follow protocol. But the beauty is we can ride anywhere in the United States and not be bothered or shot off our motorcycles.

Brings back some great memories for me. As a little kid in the early 60's I always admired the biker culture. The sounds of the bikes and the freedom to do as you wanted was aways inside me but I was just a kid. But still I had the desire to live in that culture.Seeing these guys in there leathers and jeans and tats and boots and long hair not giving a damn what the public thought of them but as a community on their own free to live life as they wanted really struck a cord in me. So in the mid 70's when I turned 18 I got my first bike, it was a Kawasake kz 1000. Not the harley I could'nt afford but it was mine. So I bought my boots a big pair of used harness boots and wore some old dirty levi's and found a leather jacket at a yard sale.I was so excited that I litterally slept in my gear next to my bike. Road it every day in the rain and sun and dirt but I came to realize that the old school bikers of the 60's had missed me by. Eventualy I got a Harley and full leathers and engineer boots but never joined a club.Yes I still ride and I am in my mid 60's now but to this day I wish I was born back in those days of the old school bikers cause these days it's spit shined boots and clean leathers and clean shaved guys out there. So your vids and testimonials about those old better days are awesome and don't let these memories go away!!!

Bikes were the tool of the masses, got us away from hell on earth. 40 odd years later, I find myself a member of the oldest CMC on earth, and it is a balm to my soul. Don't compare someone else's highlight reel with your life. I rode then and still ride. Motorcycles are drastically improved since those days, the motorcycle aftermarket is incredible by comparison, and access to info is incredible compared to waiting for dead tree magazines and mailing off to a company who might send you a mimeographed sheet for you to guesstimate if their parts fit and don't suck! In the past if you weren't buddies with a good independent shop owner the few local dealers and shops had you by the balls and charged accordingly. That's also where the asshole custom of letting your ride sit until the owner felt like getting to it came from! I still ride my Shovelheads and Nortons, but my FXRs get a lot more miles. There was no magic time when everyone was a genuine brother either. Genuine brothers existed then and now, but they were never very common. Find righteous folk to ride with, or just GO RIDE. All you need is a bike and the wind. The social shit is great but it's secondary.

Would really like to see this without the pulsating pictures. Maybe set to Nazareth's "Miss Misery" or Al Green's "Ride Sally Ride". But thanks for posting the pics, the 70's were great (if you lived through them)

@@hangmen71 Thanks for the reply, even though I didn’t realize I asked that 7 years ago. I was still riding until August’23, when I sold my ‘15 Breakout. My health is starting to get worse aka both of my shoulders have osteoarthritis and it just got too painful to ride. But I started riding in ‘70 when I came home from Nam. Not bad for a 75 year old.

@@philbrown9764 , Hi Phil, sorry to hear of your health problems. I'm almost right there with you. Started riding in '66 and still going at 73, but can't know how long I will be able to. I just did a five day ride to California. Painful, but still doable so far. Hang in there brother.

Yup, them was the 70's. Scary to think of all the freedoms we have lost. Who would have thunk we would live to see the day that Americans would become subservient to Mexicans in our own country?

I was fortunate enough to have been a biker in the 1960's and 70's. It was all about riding, sleeping rough, drinking and the odd rumble. Now it is all organized crime..PERIOD!
