Yellow Jacket isn't just a cool costume, it's his most versatile. He can shrink, grow and communicate/control insects just like his other identities, and it also allows him to fly and shoot stinger blasts. I can understand why Ant-Man/Giant-Man are considered his most iconic roles, but I really do think that Yellow Jacket is his best identity, not to mention that isn't always written as mentally unstable as Yellow Jacket. Plus, he was really fun to watch in "Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes" after he became Yellow Jacket.

So essentially, it goes : antman/giant man, then he retired, then came back as goliath (giant man with a new costume and name), then he got that lab accident, got schitzo, then became yellow jacket? Correct me if im wrong i just want to understand the many identities pym had.

Ya I loved the character since I was 6 in 1968. I was pissed when they decided to for no reason turn him into a total ass hole. I thought OK in a few issues they'll reveal he wasa skrull or a android built by Ultron. They could of easily erased and fix this royal screw up by Jim Shooter.

Hank Pym isn't a bad man, have you seen what happened to him, he practically went insane, faked his death to become yellowjacket, made the avengers biggest threat, Pym particle insanity, almost lost his wife, his life's work stolen, and his friends abandoning him, but apparently that one scene lives in infamy.
@Calzaki
@Calzaki 8 жыл бұрын
Also Mr Fantastic hit Sue Storm a number of times and in classic 60's logic its defended as "She was a woman and just hysterical so it was ok to hit her" and yet THAT never get mentions. I think the big thing for Pym is that in the Ultinate universe (ugh) they took the active decision to go from the acidental strike in a moment of madness and in their adolescent scribbles blow it up so that in their new edgy take on Marvel he didn't just slap her... No, he had to beat her into a coma, almost choke her with bug spray and attack her with ants. Which is all so over the top and has bled over into Hank Pym's rep in general. Ultimate universe damaged the reps of a lot of characters

The story of hank is basically the embodiment of marvel general. Here you have one of the smartest men if not THE smartest man in the marvel universe and yet he feels under appreciated in the science community. He craves for the credit he deserves. It's one of his down. He's tried countless times to be appreciate amongst those around him and he fails countless times. He's truly an inspiring character.

I wouldn't really call Hank the possibly smartest man in the Marvel universe, I mean he is smart, but he screws up to much which is a sign of more ignorance then other geniuses. For example let's say someone created the first hover board, but that someone miscalculated a lot and the hover board just knocks off the user. Now someone else created the first working laser gun, and it actually works. The creator of the hover board did have a advanced idea so did the creator of the laser gun, and the creator of the laser figured out how to actually work his invention, proving him smarter. Now the creator of the hover board is trying to fight back with more advance inventions, but he's in a endless loop of failing.

Both Reed Richards and Spiderman have slapped their wives and no one brings it up yet in another video talking about Hank Pym, there were tons of comments claiming that Hank was just an asshole wife beater undeserving of sympathy, despite the fact that outside sources caused him to get into such a state where he actually hit her and he regrets it to this day. Both the slap as well as Ultron were accidents, he did not intend for these things to happen. He was just trying to create AI and Ultron became sentient and attacked Hank Pym, how was Hank supposed to expect that? He gets too much flak for two accidental things while Spiderman and Reed Richards skirt on by with no real repercussions for hitting their wives. Honestly, I can relate to Hank with the low self esteem and anger and emotional problems. He's a great character, but sadly it seems he only really shows up in Avengers and a few other things and doesn't have any solo stuff, at least not any notable stuff. I'd love to see a new solo series for him, one where he is back to being Hank Pym and not Ultron.

Hank has been given a lot of shit for this ONE time he slapped his wife out of his emotional tantrum; heck it was supposed to be an accident. It sucks that comic writers later kept this aspect like as if it was his only defining character; he's done a lot of things to make up for that and the whole Ultron dilemma. Pym is a very complex and interesting character... but he's admittedly a big jerk at times.

I applaud you for your speech on the "hank is a wife beater" matter: not only did it enlighten me further on the infamous panel and it's history/reasoning, but your argument is logical and reasonable. Plus, it also adds to the one-sided view on domestic violence, especially when a certain group gets offended when someone says "men are stronger than women" but pull the weakness card when the opposite case of domestic violence happens.

It was just shocking, and that's what made marvel awesome. We have a founding member of the avengers, the rest seem to have decent lives, but Pym just falls apart. He goes insane, creates ultron, and feels abandoned. That is heartbreaking and shocking for such a profound hero in marvel. Now that doesn't excuse him of taking control when he did, he had moments to ask for help, but when heros fall down that far, it just becomes disturbing because that happens to us to. But it provides a good story, what hank does afterwards make him a better man and makes us realize we can come back. Those scars are still around but he at least saved himself. Imagine what would happen if hank plunged deeper.

One of the most important Marvel superheroes, Marvel's "Giant Man" par excellence for me. Incredibly underrated. How much I would have liked to see the original version of Edgar Wright in the UCM of Ant-Man, with Hank Pym played by Simon Pegg, it would have been fantastic as an adaptation, just to see that little masterpiece of Scott Pilgrim vs the world, to realize the immense talent of he. I have nothing against Scott Lang, and Paul Rudd (whom I love and find very funny), but I would have preferred a live action adaptation with Hank Pym, rather than Scott. Yeah, Edgar Wright decided that Hank Pym should be an old man, and instead gave the spotlight to B-list character Scott Lang, the second Ant-Man. In his defence, this decision came before the MCU. The movie just took so long to get made that they adapted it into the MCU. As a consequence of aging Hank's character, they also killed off his partner Wasp, and created a daughter character specifically so she could be Wasp, instead. Her name, Hope, was taken from a forgettable villain in a parallel future of the comics, who was also the daughter of the Pyms. Having Scott Lang as the main Ant-Man also meant that Scott "inherited" the Giant-Man powers in Civil War. While I'm glad that someone has them, that someone really should have been Hank Pym. Hank Pym is a FOUNDING Avenger in the comics, and now he won't even get to be on the team in the MCU. And neither will Wasp, who was also a founder.

People need to read the comics to actually know what's going on. Original hank was just in a two way abusive relationship, and he just made it worst. Ultimate Pym had no excuse as he was just abusive, and had no real reason. He didn't have some downfall, he was just abusive until after Janet's death, and probably Cap nearly beating him to death. 616 is flawed, ultimate is just someone I would just work with but keep an eye on.

Hank Pym is a good guy. When it comes to starring in comics, he also had a few good years after he came back from being kidnapped during Secret Invasion. In the Mighty Avengers he led his own Avengers team with confidence, and in Avengers Academy he was shown to be a really nice person. It high-lighted his protective side as a teacher and his desire to redeem himself from his past mistakes. It also showed that a big part of Hank's character is a willingness to forgive others and give second chances, since he knows that he needs forgiveness from others. And it had a great speech from him, about the positive impact the Avengers have had on his life.

The great thing about this character 2 me is, u never know whether it'll go micro-macro or just wait until it 💡 gets the idea, "it might be a good idea to pitch in !" . . .

so question if hank shrunk down to the size of an atom went to doom's mask or tony's armor and split an atom in it and cause an explosion that killed doom or tony and some of new York he would be marvel's deadlylist super hero or villain if it was tony that would be a crazy blank kills the marvel universe the explosion would also kill him self crazy right?

Reed's science is based mostly around physics, though he can create AI and robots. Tony is the opposite. Hank has both.
@ahlpym

+Sjono It was explained at the time that Reed Richards uses science for exploration and Tony Stark uses it to build, while Hank uses it to specifically try to make the impossible possible. He was the "mage" of science. This happened when Hank met Eternity after growing so big that he grew out of the universe (during an experiment where he was trying to grow into a higher plane, similar to how he can shrink into the microverse). If you don't like it, the writers did give themselves an out: A little while after the event, Hank captured Loki and neutralised his magic (with science! Take that "magic"!). Here, Hank told Loki about his meeting with Eternity, and Loki then claimed that he had disguised himself as Eternity to mess with Hank. No further evidence was given by Loki, and Loki could have simply lied to make Hank doubt himself, but it's there.

I think when you boil down everything into one concise version like the earths mightiest heroes cartoon did Hank is an awesome complex character. But with over 80 years of comics you are bound to get some dumb story’s and ideas that just stick around.

these comics are too emotional compared to the movie! I understood why Hank Pym in the film couldnt wear the suit anymore. It took an emotional "toll" on him he says. Wow, i didnt expect that! Need to read the comics first after all lol.

I kinda tired saying this: 1) Peter Parker. It's an accident, because MJ is getting on his way while choking Ben Reilly for ruining his life. BIG TIME. And..., peter felt so much guilt afterwards. (Btw, this scene is created because Marvel want to replace Peter with Ben. Permanently. Its kinda dirty move by Marvel). Back to subject, the scene is recreated in Sam Raimi Spider-Man 3. How you guys saw it? Be honest. Don't lie and be an asshole. Like I said, its an accident. how many of you ignoring this fact on purpose. That's a new down level of low.. 2) Reed Richards. i don't know how many times he beat Sue, but, that because Reed warning Sue for what she said. 3) I kinda have sympathy for Hank Pym. He needs help at that time. Btw, do not attack me personally for what I said.
