Hank's a legend. The man can play every instrument on Jamey Johnson's stage and you'd think it was his. He sung a song about being born at a party in a barn. Said he can pick it with his teeth and pick it with his toes. He didn't lie. Some people say he mocked his daddy. I think he fell from the mountain, during his recovery he reconstructed his self and came back stronger, and way louder. My 2 and 3 year old daughters can hear a Hank song and tell you who it is. They live Hank.

the actual begining of the "outlaw" phase of country began in the early 70's with Waylon and Willie. The term "outlaw music" was first coined by a female writer in Nashville to describe these two artists bucking the sytem Nashville had of using their own session musicians when cutting an album. Waylon was one of the first to insist on using his own band and having total control in the studio. "Wanted, The Outlaws" released in early '75 was the first Platinum country album at the time..

+Kari Shimits I beg you; please enlighten me as to what amazing things Shooter (I’m a famous musician cause my last name is) Jennings has done???!!! I was horrified when I watched a video of one of his, ideas of music, and that he was going by Shooter Jennings. I could see, hear, and feel Waylon rolling over in his grave with his ears bleeding just as my ears were!!!! I loved Waylon Jennings music all of my life, I nearly lost my lunch hearing Shooter’s version of music!!!

To all the people saying Shooter isn't his dad. Damn straight he's not he is his own man with his own music walking his own path. Waylon was one of the best to ever make music and has a hell of a name to live up to. Shooter has made some damn good music. His first album is still one of my favorites. He may not be his dad, but his dad would be proud. Ain't none of us our dad, but none of you that had a dad worth a shit would want to hear that every day of your life.

Shooter is ok as musician, just not lead singer material. I’ve seen him live and he’s average with no stage presence whatsoever. I like some songs he’s written and I think that’s what he’s best at. With that said, it’d hard for anybody to live up to Waylon! Just my opinion, but if his last name wasn’t Jennings, he’d have to work a real job and play guitar or piano in a bar band on the weekends.

I came back for another visit. This is like an old fashioned "guitar pull" that Waylon used to talk about. Seems to be spontaneous--like just pick one great and familiar Waylon song and let it rip. Just so glad they came together to try to keep Waylon's music alive. Jamey Johnson is sure one and to reawaken people to it. Hank is the patriarch now.

Yeah you do need to say more! Jamey is really Nashville's last hope to put soul back into country. He doesn't use fancy light shows, or fill his songs with country clichés ( pick up trucks, front porches, and that other crap) he just sings about life with great feeling. No mistake he has at least one Waylon cover on all his albums. If he gets a breakout single, Nashville will tremble.
