Another thing to keep in mind as far as smoothness on the signing goes is the actual tooth of the paper that you’re working with. A lot of papers out there will just eat your marker tips for breakfast (especially felt tips like permanent, sharpie-adjacent markers) and will drastically cut down on the longevity of the marker. Not saying this to Hank specifically because I’m pretty sure by looking at my copy of An Absolutely Remarkable Thing that the paper he’s signing on is relatively smooth, but for other market buyers in the future, this is something to keep in mind. Sincerely, a pen addict and lettering artist

I was curious about the pocket shark, and it turns out it's made by (or for) Cold Steel, a company that makes basically any sort of sharpened steel implements (knives, swords, axes, machetes and spears). This makes the pen even more of a curiosity: why does it exist? Did someone accidentally cut a pen with an axe, got splattered with ink, and decided that this was a problem that needed to be fixed?
@kim3salls4 жыл бұрын
Daan Wilmer it was created with two purposes: writing and “persuading”. There is a whole Every Day Carry industry around pens that can be used as fighting tools. It would be used with a knowledge of pressure points to stop someone from holding you or persuading them to move in the direction you want them to.

What about the Hanglerfish, how would drawing that interfere with the full amount of ink? Did you do more Hanglerfish with more comfortable pens?
@newcreation194 жыл бұрын
I think he said in a previous video that he draws hanklerfish on signatures that he just feels do not look that great, and assuming a constant effectiveness of Hank signatures there would be about the same hanklerfish to signature ratio per pen, so it shouldn't actually impact the results
@Nerdnotwashere4 жыл бұрын
@@newcreation19 I don't know about that. There has to be a quality difference between the pens. So one pen may just produce terrible signatures so he adds more Hanklerfish which in turns decreases the life of the pen screwing with the above results. Probably not, but it is something to take into consideration.
@newcreation194 жыл бұрын
STTNGfan15 I understood him to mean he adds them on signatures that he affected the quality of with his hand motion, and not that the marker affected the quality of the signature. If he stopped using each pen when he felt the effectiveness had worn off I don’t expect that there’d be a huge quality variation from the pen, but who knows.
@tuttamarie484 жыл бұрын
Katherine Nally I also thought he meant “bad hand motion” when he said “bad signature”. I just think that a pen that is really uncomfortable to hold (like the shark one) would affect his hand motions and produce terrible signatures that he needs to add hanklerfish to

In case it matters (an not for this experiment): Sharpies ink leaches through plastic wrap. Something in the chemicals goes through (not the colour). So if you're going to use it on something containing food (just in case we ever go back to work and you have to mark your name on your lunch in a communal fridge) be aware that the smell/taste of the Sharpie will be on your food. Or you could just not use plastic wrap.

omg... I need some grafs. Nut just the number of paper signed. I need weights before and after, diameter at the grip location, with of first and last line. And probably much more that you had time to think of while signing. Also.... We need you to repeat all pins at least 15 times. Maybe you use more ink. when you are angry and push harder, maybe you say to yourself what when the ink runs out you be done signing for today, there for you use more ink. Maybe when you are happy you add more anglerfish and therefor use more ink. Maybe the humidity makes the paper more or less dry and there sucks more ink from the pen. Maybe the pin with a nice grips makes you make more anglerfish.... And yes we also need data for the colors.... I think this is a good prestudy that shows that different pens might have different endurance. But now it is time the the real study.

Roberto Fontiglia how did Hank make TFIOS a bestseller?
@auroraourania71614 жыл бұрын
@@jackevans3609 I think he meant the channel's notoriety. Starting with Paper Towns, John's three most recent books have all become bestsellers well before releasing, and at least for Paper Towns, that was largely due to the audience of Vlogbrothers. TFioS probably had a decent number of people get into it due to having read Paper Towns, and I'm sure more people got into TatWD from having read TFioS than from watching Vlogbrothers, but John had only reached a fairly small audience through his books when Paper Towns was released.
