Today we are in Hanley and Stoke-on-Trent and this week there’s been a very bad bad fire in Hanley in the old nightclub region so we’re gonna see if we can have a look at that. Its not just Hanley either, its all through the city from Longton to Stoke. The city is a dreadfull mess from north to south. Its not a city to be proud of anymore in its present condition.

What a dump this place has become, I used to go there on a Saturday, in the early to mid 80s, it was a thriving town then, lots of shops, and I remember when the potteries centre opened, thanks for the videos, to show what a mess these towns are now

It’s very sad and shocking when I see the state of Hanley today, no Lewis, no Marks, no BHS, no Bratt and Dyke, no Webberlys , just to name a few, shopped there every Saturday, retired to North Wales , so thank you for bringing me up to date on the town where I spent 60 years of my life. The tall building by B and M was the tax office, wilcos was C and A. The night life up from the Gp tower was the old theatre Royal. Ken Dodd did the last show there which finished at 1 am. Stafford street was thriving, with buses going to Stafford and people shopping. It’s all very sad. I noticed a picture in one of the shop windows showing the open air swimming pool at Trentham Gardens. Trentham Gardens was the place to be, even new pottery people on holiday in Blackpool booking a mystery trip and ending up in Trentham Gardens, Stoke station operated mystery trips by train, ended up in Brighton, Weston Super Mayer, they were the days

Am a born and bred Stokie but not lived or worked there for 20 years. Hanley used to be bustling and so it's sad to see so many boarded up/closed businesses. Is the Festival Park taking punters away from Haney - or is Hanley another victim of online shopping and extortionate business rates? Tragic 😢

So what you’re saying is. Hanley has a McDonald’s KFC B and M, Albion Pub, Pound land Paddypower and Primark. Excellent. Can’t wait to visit.

No the guy is a hate monger deliberately only showing the bad things and not showing the good. There is most shops you can think of there, you would be best looking up other peoples videos for the best impression.

Hanley has sadly become one depressing place. We have a disgrace of a council who have just let Stoke On Trent rot. 😥

Nothing to do with that. Nothing lasts and consumerism is fading and people shop online. If anything people are offloading things to charity shops than buying more junk from town now.

Above B&M was the tax Office but they are renovating at the moment for flats mike lloyds music was the premises you mentioned

Hi i heard they sold the old tax office in November yet when i spoke to Jane Ashworth she said she had no idea what it was going to be turned into. Could you tell me please where did you here it was being turned into flats?

In the 1750's Hanley, Burslem and Stoke, along with Birmingham helped to start the industrial revolution, which led to the technological world we live in today. However, the days of the British Empire are long since gone and will never return. I am so happy that I brought my family to Western Australia from Stoke in the early 1980's. Send us your young and technically smart, and we will show them how to have a life. Let the refugees have Stoke on Trent, possibly they will rejuvenate it.
