3/3/2023 Received a call from work calling me in for the next day to relieve the current shift. One of our officers was down. This brings me to tears every single time. I’m a dispatcher and the officers are all MY officers. The same goes for my firefighters and medics. I’ve heard “shots fired” and I’ve heard the sound of an officer in a physical fight when his radio was bumped. I’ve also heard a “mayday” from my firefighters and the sound of my medics screaming for police due to a combative patient. Thankfully they’ve all made it home.

These men are the true hero’s.. every day they get up put that badge on knowing they will be ridiculed hated, sometimes loved. But also putting their lives on the line for people they don’t know. Think about if you an officer in that situation... you probably would have shot also. You don't know how it feels to be a police officer, to go through the harsh training, and how worried their families might be about whether or not they will come home or not. I am so sorry. I was a volunteer first responser (medical), so I understand what can happen to the people who respond when someone calls 911. I know what it's like to lose someone like that, and there's just no way to wrap your head around it. It's just a heavy pain you're given unexpectedly, and there's no answers, no solace, no absolution.
