Love your intro! Looking expensive is not necessary (and like you said, “tacky“), having your space look comfortable and inviting and a reflection of you and your style is what is really important. 😊👍

100%%% I personally think wanting your home look expensive is decorating for the wrong reason. You should love every item you put into your home. You shouldn't be buying to impress or make your home look a certain way. That's just my take on it! Thanks for watching! XOXOXO

Love this! I often think about what I love about the homes that really stand out to me when I've gone into them and try to bring that vibe into my home. Not a copy paste, but the energy of it usually being warm, comfy, collected, and it usually says something about the people who live there. Going into just an expensive home doesn't make me feel the same way.

100% I also feel anymore striving for their home to feel "expensive" is decorating for the wrong reason. Makes me feel like they are trying to be something they are not and it just doesn't sit well with me. Decorate your space based on what you love... not cause it's gonna make your place look "expensive" Your home should be a feeling... and that is cozy, warm and inviting! ❤️❤️❤️

100%%% I think if people are "trying" to make their homes look "expensive" they are decorating for the wrong reasons! It gives me the vibe of trying too hard. Just decorate how you love and with items you love! No one should strive for an expensive looking home.. but a comfortable, cozy and inviting one! ❤️

At first I was “what?Wait? math?” Haha. Love the tricks and I use the lux curtain trick also I’m so into juxtaposition. It feels like a home (a well traveled home).great content keep it up.❤️

Love that ... "well traveled home" such a great description of what a home should be. I don't think anyone should strive for their home to feel "expensive" but lived-in, cozy, warm and inviting. We are in the process of building a built in bookcase. The 1/3, 2/3 rule is going to be very helpful. Thank you. I love the math formulas for me because I am not creative and so what “feels right” does not work for me.

Hey Hannah! I always hated that saying that I am hearing a lot on KZfaq, “How to make your home look more expensive than it really is”. It is what it is. I think most people will go with some high end, middle and low end pieces in their homes anyways. And besides that, your low end may be another person’s high end. But anyways I have went totally the other way…..lol! Awesome tips! I learned something new today and it’s always welcomed. Thanks for sharing!

I think if you are decorating for that reason... you are decorating for the wrong reason! Decorating your space should be fun, enjoyable and a curated space of different items that make YOU happy! Question: I'm looking to put together a nice coffee/tea bar vignette in my kitchen that looks luxe but is functional. I have a combined coffee maker/keurig and a bean grinder... I am imagining having something to the side of those with is raised up, something maybe marble or something not too basic, that is literally elevated maybe 6-9"? Not sure... with the keurig k-cups sitting on top as a display and some of the tea bag options on display as well for guests to choose as they like... any thoughts there..??

I love the juxtaposition of the old and the new as well I used to watch HGTV back in the late 90s early 2000's and there was a woman I forget her name elderly Caucasian woman she used to have a show where that's all she did yes but none of this copy and paste complete sets in my home type of stuff

Love how you called out the copy and paste we’re all falling victim to…including me lol. Everyone’s living room is starting to look like the TARGET catalog… nice but non imaginative.

This is very true ... and I think we are all guilty of picking up items from Target (which is ok) and implenting it into our home. I think it's being intentional with our purchasing as well as grabbing inspiration but showcasing it in YOUR own way! My whole IG feed literally looks like the same home over and over. You showed up on my KZfaq feed as a recommendation I love the videos that I’ve seen so far. My question is on the bookcase when you say one third and 2/3 and you’re doing groupings I don’t understand if I look at the third shelf and it says one third but there’s three items? can you go into that one a little bit more detailed

Thank you for watching!!!!! Start by measuring the width of your shelves. Then take that number and divide it by 1/2 & 2/3 to get the decor A width and decor B width. With these measurements it will give you the optimal decor groupings width. Alternate between your 1/3 groupings (more minimal) with your 2/3 groupings (a little more going on). That way your shelves are well balanced. Also stick no more than 3 objects per shelf so it's not too busy! Hopefully this makes a little more sense!

Great Information, however, the visual went by too fast. Should hold camera on item while you're describing just a bit longer. It all went by too fast.
