Quite inspiring. How many bales did you use to put up all four walls?

It is beautiful to see, that everybody can be happy with his own truth. To be creative must not mean, that you can have everything just ready by thought. Some things in life grow very slowly and might last very long, some things get up quick as they end - who knows? Last month I went back to this beautiful place and could make some more pictures of the finished building. They show, that all worked out very well. Hans van Dam and all those many and beautiful people, who followed this idea, just to try out something like this, without any template and experience. So I have already started to make a final video from the finished straw bale house - which is called today "Yogahouse" and you will see then - a beautiful temple and place for retreat. Hope to get the video ready before easter as good things have time.

How do you compute for lateral loads? Are the nylon straps the only means for the exterior walls to resist rotation?

The editing and the music made this a real pain to watch. My eyes are literally in tears trying to keep things in focus and being repeatedly frustrated.

Dear visitors, MANY questions - hear some answers: there is plenti of steel grate barrier under the plaster, as wells gravel sacks between the foundation and the straw balesand wherever else needed. so no rats inside or even ouside. for t he rats we have got cats andfor the cats maybe tigers... No wood wall framing? That things gonna sag like hell over time.

Are you sure you staked the straw bales the right way? You want the straw to not lay flat because it will compress over time. You want the straw to be on end so it doesn’t compress so much. The bales still lay flat but the straw has to be vertical.
