One of the greatest P4P boxers of all time! Ezzard Charles has one of the best resume's in history along with one of the top overall skill sets I've ever seen. In addition to all of his other great assets, his counter-punching was superb so that's what I wanted to focus this highlight on. The Cincinnati Cobra at his best! www.patreon.com/haNZAgod

Scariest thing Charles counter punching abilities is that it's he can counter to head or body with either hand at any given time and both do damage. I'm not surprised that from Middleweight to Light Heavyweight he was ducked by the champions.

Well, he did win a non-title fight against Archie Moore. So I consider Charles an unofficial 3 weight division champ. He was the Amatuer Middleweight Champion, beat the Light Heavyweight Champion and a 2 time Heavyweight Champion. Even in his losses,Charles gave tough, competitive fights. I really think some of his losses came from fighting too often and weight cutting to Light Heavyweight sometimes on short notice. I think that alone added some losses on his record that could have been wins. Still, with victories against Joe Louis, Archie Moore, Joe Walcott, Jimmy Bivins, Rex Layne and Joey Maxim, as well as going the distance with Rocky Marciano 1 fight and nearly getting a TKO on Rocky the 2nd fight, I truly believe Charles is an underrated legend that should be talked about more.

@@surveying482 Yeah, but a punching bag that moved awkwardly, was always looking for a way inside and threw an incredible number of punches, most of them power shots (an average of 67 per round against Charles). Rocky was a boxer who got hit a lot, sure, a bum he was not! I feel all those great boxers (Charles, Walcott, Moore) will never get the credit they deserve, if we don't start admitting to ourselves how good Marciano was. And God knows that can be difficult for a fan of the sweet science.

One of the few guys to go 15 rounds with rocky and he nearly beat him in both their fights In the first he got a close decision loss and on the second he caused a huge cut by spotting rockys nose in half and if they had made it to the next round rocky might’ve been retired in his corner and Charles would’ve been the first man to beat rocky

@miguelyarturo oh no Sir I really don't know any. They just said they remember he would run a lot and be jabbing and swinging his fists. He was a teenager then I guess. They said he was very polite and nice whenever they talked to him. But I thought it was pretty awesome that they just acted like " OH Ezzard? " of course we knew him. Lol

Here's a thought. Bring back same day weigh ins. You think GGG could beat this man because he'd have to fight him with same day weighins? What about Bob Foster or the Mongoose? These modern-day fighters have no idea what it was like. So many more fights against such elite competition. Less weight classes, one belt per division = real world champions. Not the crap we see today. Match up Spence and Crawford with Carlos Monzon, Ray Robinson, Fullmer etc. I just don't see them doing so great.

How do you see prime Charles canelo going at 175?
@antoniomosley9410
@antoniomosley9410 7 ай бұрын
@kingdomofanimaria That would be a interesting fight. Canelo would try to walk down Ezzard Charles but since Ezzard Charles faced men with similar styles he wouldn't be easy to tag.

Charles takes his head off. Too big too strong. Canelo has no experience dealing with that kind of fighter. None at all. Bivol beat him. Bivol would get trashed by Charles.@@antoniomosley9410

Everyone's too terrified of having a loss on their record and they only fight once a year as well. Far cry from previous eras where they were hungry. An example is how many non title bouts Roberto Duran had during his reign as lightweight champion. He defended his title on average twice a year over the six years but also had another 22 non title bouts in that time as well.

Yes Golovkin Beats him. He was tough but Charles does not have the physical atributes that a modern elite athlete possesses. Prime G is way too fast & powerful. An over the hill Golovkin bullied two young light heavyweights (fight night) in Jacobs and Murata.

Ezzard Charles fought on too long and lost a lot of fights near the end of his boxing career. In his prime he was excellent. He defeated Archie Moore 3 times when he was a light heavyweight.

@@treacheroustrouser4652 he fought way past his prime, way past, and the competition was MUCH MUCH tougher in his era. And a zero loss was not as important as the Mayweather era. The fighters of that are did not pick their opponent, the ref and the judges. Ezzard was a blown up MW where he was at his best. These days young fans have been indoctrinated by the mediocre fighters of today who inexplicably call themselves GOAT. The case is strong for Ezzars and Robinson as the best pound for pound.
