I did not know what this song was about at first! We went from an up pace - up beat performance into a slow, trance like song followed with a steady drum beat. I now understand what this song is about and kudos to U2 for bringing awareness. This is U2 with Sunday, Bloody Sunday, performed Live at Slane Castle. Do enjoy the reaction. Thank you.

I'm John Hume's nephew, John sadly died there not long back, it was him who got Catholics equal rights in the north and if you ask U2 who their hero's are, John is one of them, a truly great man.

That song stirred so many memories and emotions. Tragic incidents like that one need to be kept in our memories. We need reminders every now and then. The lyrics AND the performance were both moving. Thank you, Phoebe and thank you, KP, for delving into the meaning of the song. 👏👏 to Phoebe and 👏👏 to our boy. 💞

That music reminds me of Something that hurt my heart. I was 30 years old, trying to resolve my time in an unpopular war. Their music is so true, sorry with that history. Thanks for reacting it.

Bono has many of those songs with great political commentary. If not about trouble in Ireland than about America. He was certainly raising awareness with his style and lyrics Angel of Harlem, Bullet the blue sky, Pride are just few of those or better to say- the most famous ones. The Joshua Tree is my favourite album, “Where the streets have no name” with the video on a Los Angeles rooftop is 🔝. Great request and reaction 👏

AGREED! The best ever live performance of this song by Bono and U2. The brute rawness yet so addictive to the ears no matter how many times I've listened to it. Absolute shivers down my spine.

This song has always affected me with the subject matter but in October I went on a tour of Ireland with one and half in Northern Ireland. They had murals done of the victims of Sunday Bloody Sunday. That really brought it home to me how awful it was

Great reaction HAP!! I’ve heard this song before but never with all of the components like this performance. I think they performed it all because they were in Dublin. I felt like Bono was definitely promoting peace during the song. Especially as he told the crowd to “wipe their tears away”. I also have always admired the musicality of this song as well! At times the drum beats sound so in sync with everything and almost a drum roll. And it was great to see “Edge” singing backup (the main guitarist’s name is Edge). When listing the fallen at the end, that gave me goosebumps. So, definitely a historical song. 💗💗💗💗

@@HAP3SPEAKZ Edge's name is Dave Evans, but his face was so thin and angled, people said he looked like the edge of something. Some say the name came from him rarely committing to things, saying on the "edge" before jumping in. Bono was given the nickname Bono Vox, shortened to Bono, by his friends. Dublin had a hearing aid store named Bonavox, which roughly translates from Latin as "great or strong voice." His birth name is Paul Hewson, as reflected in the names of his wife (Ali Hewson) and kids (Eve Hewson is now an actor of some note, and Eli Hewson is the front man for the band Inhaler, which are making a lot of noise in the UK and all over). While Edge is still called Dave by family and friends, Bono is rarely, if ever, called Paul...Bono has become his name.

This is one of my favs of theirs. They are from Ireland if I'm not mistaken. Some of the most beautiful songs comes from tragic events. I recommend you check out the official video for this song, the visuals really hits home more than live version. It's hard to hear what he is saying in parts of this, but finally got that he was stating their names.. Thanks Hap for this one.

I can say this about Shane Castle because Bono and Bruce Springsteen are great friends. The first concert Bruce done in Ireland was there and Bruce tried to stop it because there were 80-90 thousand drunk fan’s falling over and Bruce was worried someone was going too get hurt or killed. At a break he told his manager Jon Landau he wanted to stop it because it was just too dangerous.Anyway a long story short Jon talked him into going back on and the rest of the show although nerve wrecking, he felt more comfortable as he watch how the Audience were looking after each other, if someone went down the one person next to them would pull them up again and this song is a great U2 song and the other guy playing lead Guitar is called Edge and he has got the edge.🎼❤️🇦🇺❤️🇬🇧🕺🏻💃🎸☘️

Hmmm...this is the first time I'm hearing this live version. I think I much prefer the Red Rocks video. Maybe because it's so ingrained in my brain from the 80s...but I think it sounds much better. Even thought it's live too, it's clearer & faster. This one is slowed down a lot. I also like the whole visual of the Red Rocks & the flames & Bono's outfit...the boots, the flag.. You should take a look at that one. I always loved early U2. A lot of their songs had a very marchy feel. Check out the studio version too.

This one is closer to the original version in tempo. I think the Under a Blood Red Sky version was the entry point for a lot of fans, especially in the US, of U2. I would put the Rattle & Hum version, with the speech about the Irish in America taking sides related to "the Troubles" without having any skin in the game, above all of them, but the Red Rocks/Under a Blood Red Sky version is a moment of greatness

There are a few songs that have been done about different events that people always remember. "The Wreck of the Edmond Fitzgerald" is another such by Canadian Gordon Lightfoot and "4 Dead in Ohio" in the USA by Crosby, Stiles, Nash & Young is yet another. Things can get violent particularly in those years. "Abraham, Martin and John" is another one in the USA and after the bridge a 4th name is added Bobbie.

Another request from pointed problems in our world as this from U2 with blood in protest. This one is of racism in America. I would like you to do a reaction to a old song, written by Paul McCartney in 1968. This singer is a true bass, Geoff Castellucci, in this song he is harmonies himself. This is his cover of “BlackBird” directed towards the raciest problems in the USA, its still appropriate today. Thank you for your reactions as I appreciate your work.

The people listed at the end lost their lives in the worst atrocity of The Troubles. That was in a Saturday afternoon in August 1998, in Omagh, County Tyrone. The song, though, is a reaction to the events in Derry. It still reverberates today.
