What a GREAT VIDEO and GREAT EXPERIENCE!! Good for you guys!! Congrats! :D Great kicks and board-breaking and defense techniques during the competition. And the 720 dura-chagi!!! OMG, I wish I could learn and do that too! It's such an AMAZING combo-kick, because it's like 2 or 3 feints and then the delivering blow. So very deadly, this one!! And I know EXACTLY what he means by "like a light switch" that turns on; when you are trained by the BEST, they show you that ONE LITTLE THING that gives you awareness, understanding, and a push where suddenly you FEEL IT!! Right? It's amazing when you learn something new and your mind is awakened -- but doubly so when your BODY learns something new and is awakened. :) Happy Hapkido, guys!

Tbh though, this wouldn't really work like this irl. People just spin into things etc or don't resist. I hear a lot of people saying, it's because you don't resist a lock or it hurts more etc, but even getting someone into one wouldn't really work well unless you're physically stronger than them and heaps quicker already. I respect this martial art but against someone throwing serious punches, you're not going to catch that hand.That being said, I really admire the athleticism and don't deny these guys and girls have some great skills. Also I'm talking about the demos not Master Han or whomever.

@bluehornet197

Exactly the very reason why I won't do hapkido and you don't need to be physically stronger then someone to get them into a lock or to isolate an arm lol your body just has to be stronger then that limb I DO NOT care how big you are 7ft 7.5ft I don't care its the exact same principle a master of Hapkido would be able to handle that larger opponent but someone that isn't even a black belt is definitely gonna have a hard time

Finding instructor in Hap Ki Do will vary in approach base on its Martial Art principles. The range of techniques of the instruct and how will can he explain how to do it in order to transfer as much force into movement and contact. Very refine art if want to go against larger opponent. Its not base on strength alone but on finding the most effective technique and doing it will. Techniques over come size in Hap KI DO

@@Qitrainer only problem is you have to do hapkido for many many year before you can apply that knowledge to a real life situation that's one of the many issues i personally have with Hapkido I'm not saying this is a shit style or anything just that it has its complications but that doesn't mean that the moves in hapkido can't be applied in a real life situation it depends on how you train as well if you train for the real thing your better prepared then a martial artist in a dojo who hasn't trained for real life

Hap-ki-do is a refinement of Martial Arts from Japan mixed with Koran style of Kicking and weapons. The blending of Hand, punching techniques mixed together with kicking ranges all together in attacks or defenses. Hap Ki Do came after world war two when a Koran that lived in Japan came back to Korea and started to teach what he learned and students add kicking range and blend weapons into this form of Martial art and then called it Hap Ki DO. The definition of Hap-ki-do explains the range of possible physical and energy techniques and kicking form uses the whole body in circle action and straight line at the same time. Hap Ki do founders blended and tested to form this Martial Art range of abilities and each Master created his approach to what foundation stands for. The core breathing and power techniques that exist in Hap Ki Do makes range to learn very large and changes with aging in focus which makes your physical conditioning within movements. It is NOT ease Art to learn given all the Techniques you learn and condition your body and mind and breath to do it. It takes TIME to bring about Hap ki do state like over 3 years to integrate the range of it. Fighting attitude come last into techniques. Hap KI DO techniques and style made Martial art movies today. It start back in the 1970's and look at Bill Jack was Hap Ki Do and Bruce Lee. Bruce Lee started with Chinese forms but it was not good enough for him so he looked to integrate and Hap Ki Do start to show up in his movies.

This is great but unfortunately it seems to be a young persons martial art. As we get older it will no longer be possible to do any of the more impressive moves like the flips and high kicks. This is why the traditional Karate is perhaps better if you want to continue to practice into your old age. I was young once. Now I am 62 and there are some things that we just can not keep doing well. When this happens many old practitioners fade away because they feel they can no longer perform at a high enough level to represent their art. Show me a 78 year old Haikido master that can still do most of this. I can show you several Traditional Karate masters in their 70's that are still effective.
@EngineerMK2004

Most of the techniques are practicable at older age. You don't have to flip all around to be effective. Ji Han Jae was old when he did some of his final instructional videos. Check him out.
