COMPLIMENTS!!! Fantastic production work you two! Great vids on this whole trip, so KUDOS. You're PROS mastering and always improving at the top of your profession! Aside from stellar production like this one, the biggest thing that amazes me is how you never seem weary from the elements of channel work - planning, photography and post-production dips into your fun and time together. But it must, and I appreciate that! I've enjoyed your channel for years and never sensed it encroached your personal enjoyment time during these experiences, so I guess KUDOS for that too. Amazing! While it's clear you both have the flair, looks, skills and temperament to bear through the work while fun, giving up that extra time, prep, privacy and freedom while holidaying vs. those traveling without a channel to support never appears to take it's toll on you. Just have to commend you both. Fare thee well and we look forward - as always, to your next adventures!

I absolutely agree with you! The cost of RV living in Alaska may be high, but the experience and memories you gain are truly priceless. And when it comes to outdoor adventures and family time, having reliable gear and power backup is essential. I highly recommend checking out the Segway Portable PowerStation Cube Series. It's a versatile and powerful solution that can keep your devices and appliances running for extended periods, ensuring uninterrupted enjoyment of your outdoor experiences. No regrets, just pure joy!

I lived in Kodiak, AK for three years courtesy of the US Coast Guard, had it not been for living on base and buying groceries on base it would have been a heart ache. I was a Load Master on HC-130 aircraft and would often shop at CostCo for multiple families while we were in Anchorage on flights where we spent all day on the ground and flew back at night.

thats why my transfer tank in the rear bed is the best on long haul adventures, when i went to alaska for the mining adventure with a group of other miners i filled up the main tank 45gals, and the transfer tank 100 gals in the states before ai left alaska, . the different in prices range was 1.50 more in alaska then in washington state,. plus another 55 gals drum of gas , for the mining machine as well. i plan a little diferent then most rv ers, , i prepare breakfast, lunch and dinners in vaccumed seal bags , i made over 200 meals and freezed it, which lasted me the whole trip , the only items i bought in alaska was milk, juice, the liquids. everything else was in the sealed bags, . made simply for 2 people each night,. steaks, baby back ribs, chicken parts, lettuce , fruits, etc.

Thanks for the video - Very informative. We were also in Alaska during the summer of 2023 and took the other end of the approach to paying for campgrounds. Our total trip from the time we left Indiana was 120 nights - 53 of those were in Alaska. We spent $963.00 on campsites in Alaska for a per night average of $18.17. The average for the entire 120 nights was $19.17 per night. We decided not to track groceries when we're out - about 7 - 8 months per year - because we're going to eat at home or on the road. But you are correct everything is more expensive on this trip. Again, thanks for the report!

A great summary of expenses, especially since you included the excursions. I must admit that even after living in Alaska for forty years, you went on more adventures than we have. I’ve rarely used RVs in Alaska. They were for use on the 37 trips up and down to the lower 48. In Alaska, it was mostly tent camping.

Thanks, for your details of the cost break down. That's about 30% more, if I just through of a $ number. We did a amazing trip 11-years ago. $18k for 25-days for our 25th Anniversary. (No RV) 3-days Lodge trip by Bush Plane, 10-days hicking, rafting, kayaking, staying in motels & cabins, van guided tour, then a 7-day cruse, few days of traveling and few play days. We remember this great trip...♥️♥️♥️🥰

I think you guys did a super job managing your expenses. While I’m sure Alaska is more expensive, your grocery and restaurant bills weren’t a whole lot more than we spend here in Michigan (just a couple, no kids or other mouths to feed.) Inflation has costs up everywhere-hopefully if things level off, Alaska will become within reach of more budgets. BTW, I’ve really enjoyed following your travels. Keep up the great videos!

There is a brand new RV park being built just outside of Cartersville, GA along I-75. Along the Etowah river. Still being built, I think might be done by spring or early summer 2024. Looks really nice. There are 3 museums here that are tied to the Smithsonian. Booth Western Arts museum, Tellis Science museum and the Savoy Auto museum. A lot to see here. Stop by and give us a shot. Etowah Indian Mounds is here also.

I keep track of our expenses and write down every dollar we spend as well. Sadly, our beer & wine category can get kind of high sometimes - ha ha! We don't eat out much, but if there is a good brewery nearby... We are set up pretty well for boondocking - have solar, generator & composting head, so hopefully if / when we get to Alaska, our daily campground fees will average out less. We are in Florida right now & met a guy today who said you stayed on their property way back at the beginning of your travels. Thanks for a great idea of expenses in Alaska!

Drove 10,500 miles in a Chevy 3/4 ton gasoline truck. Had a blast. I’d hate to know what it’d cost now in our travel trailer!!

Good info, but one tip is (as of 2023) don't fill up in Anchorage - they have higher gas taxes. If you fill up in Palmer it can be noticeably cheaper. Costco is in a number of places - Anchorage, Fairbanks, etc (and usually has the cheapest gas but doesn't usually have diesel) but 3 Bears is a local equivalent that is very similar and can be decently cheaper for bulk items, their fuel is decently priced, and they're in more remote areas (suck as Tok - the first place you'll find entering Alaska). Kudos for mentioning the Milepost - you'll want that for the maps and info on all the places along the way, and every trip Outside I make I buy a new one.

WOW 😮, CAN'T BELIEVE THE COST, ESPECIALLY THE GROCERY AND THE RV CAMP SITE COST, BUT, when you broke down the average daily RV site it's better than staying In a hotel each night. The grocery cost seemed high (for you guys) especially since you mentioned you went out to dinner 2-3 nights a week so no grocery usage those nights. You gave very good information in this for those wanting to make this trip in the RV.

You guys are so incredible! One question I have that is somewhat unrelated to this video… You both are so positive & jubilant despite being ER nurses, which is a career that arguably encounters some of the darkest moments of life!😢 how do you both stay so positive and grounded while juggling a career that encounters heavy moments so regularly? Thank you very much for saying this Sabrina. It definitely could be a challenge at times balancing positivity and real life struggles. 15 years ago I spent 15,000 on a 7 day cruise for 2 people. Princess Cruise line in a balcony cabin (not a suite, just a balcony). Airfare from Atlanta to Vancouver and Anchorage to Atlanta, a 2 night hotel stay at the Pan Pacific hotel (around 500 per night) before the cruise. We did all the cool excursions. Misty fjords float plane, Juno whale watching, Glacier Trek, rented a car for the day and went to a dog sled farm on the full day in Skagway. So your grand total is very inexpensive.

We've been trying to go to AK from NC since 2014 and something happens every summer. My mom and dad took their truck camper from NC to AK and back the summer of 1997 and we've wanted to go since then. We're counting on 2024 being the year! I'm a numbers girl and like having everything budgeted as closely as possible to know what to expect. Then if we go sideways and do something we didn't plan and drop a bunch of cash, I can handle the overage. I love that ya'll did everything fun and stayed where you wanted. You took the same route we're planning with the exception of the Top of the World Hwy. Thank you for all the work it took to get all this info to us and for the great graphics on this video particularly. You're the best! Plus I really appreciate your appreciation of your audience and your humility. I like the kind of people you are and hope to meet you on the road someday. I'll come over and babble and make you crazy, LOL!

Hi Paula! Thank you very much for your amazing support and for watching our videos multiple times. We can't express to you how much this means to us! 🤗 I hope that you guys can make it back to Alaska one day soon. It sounds like your mom and dad made some amazing memories in that truck camper. We really enjoyed the top of the world highway. We also traveled on other highways up to Alaska, and we made other videos about that as well. If you are interested, we have a whole playlist with our breakdown through Canada and Alaska (in case you haven't seen that already). Much love to you from the Hanks family ❤️

Lots of memories for $175 a day. Great deal in my mind. The distance is something. I've done Northern Cal to Miami and Key West... 3300 miles is not fun. However, your views were so much better. Wonder what is next for you two???

Either way the cost is ridiculous. But you can’t put a price on a wonderful life experience if your able to do it. Following your channel we were able to use a lot of yours advice while traveling. When I moved here in 1979 the state campgrounds were free. For years most of our camping was backcountry trips on rivers, lakes or hikes. Many of the trips were fly out and dropped off. Now there are a lot more people than back then. We are going to start camping in the lower 48. We will go down October and November, come back for the holidays and then back down in January and February. We will leave a small motorhome in storage down there when not using it.

One way to reduce the sticker shock of the Alaska trip is to figure out what your cost for 78 days in the lower 48 and subtract to see the difference. I bet the difference isnt worth more than the memories ! And this coming from a cheap skate lol !

You also have to remember Alaska is expensive because it costs a lot to get everything up to Alaska. Food & supplies have to be trucked, flown or barged up.

Being a True Alaskan - I can say there is definitely great cost saving that can be achieved thru Boondocking! Alaska is one of the friendliest and most accommodating states for Boondocking. “Snowbirding” now in the lower 48 - grocery and dining-out costs match Alaska’s prices everyday now! 😮😮😮

Boondocking is a key money-saver. RVs are self-contained for a reason. They were designed to function without hookups, for a reasonable period of time. Staying in campgrounds and RV parks all the time will quickly drain the bank.

Our Alaska trip of a lifetime was in 2012 and we went by cruise ship up and back and took the Alaska Railway from Seward to Fairbanks and back to Anchorage with stops in Denali going up and Talkeetna going back. We took the returning cruise ship from Whittier after the final loop of our Railroad trip. All of that, sans food, was about $16K and I'm guessing another $2K for food. But we stayed in hotels along the way so having your own "bed and breakfast" did save you a lot. Amazingly enough, the cruise ships were only about $300 per person so that cost was negligible, and stopped in Ketchikan, Juneau, Skagway, and Icy Point going both up and back. Had we been in our 30s and not mid-60s we would have loved to do what you have done. Thanks for sharing your adventure and encouraging others to go, as well.
